Which of Beethoven's Sonatas are your favourites?
Mine are numbers 4, 13, 14, 17, 23, 24 and 31. My absolute favourite, however, is no. 31. It's my favourite piece of Beethoven's.

wow can't believe I never saw this.
Piano sonatas - 8, 32, 17, 23, 21.
They're in the order from favorite to least of my top 5

I kind of missed this topic too. XD
I love all of the sonatas! But the ones that come to mind most immediately are 3, 7 (mainly because of the gorgeous second movement), 8, 21, 23, 24, 26, 27 and 30.

Don't you really like the no. 31? @Wings: Yay, another fan of the no. 24! Not that many people I know like it, but I love both of the movements.

I guess people like stormy Beethoven more. The F-sharp major sonata has nothing of that sort, but it's still a joy to listen to. ^^

That's true, but I honestly can't say whether I'd like a sonata like the Appassionata or Op. 90 (which is a love story, really, so I think of it as a happy one) better. It more or less depends on my mood, methinks. :3

Sometimes I love the Appassionata, but other times I want to scream at the repeats in the last movement: "JUST STOP, GOD DAMN YOU!" ...*eerie silence*

I heard a radio host comment once that the 3rd movement is like a demonic dance. Demonic. It's the perfect word for that restless movement! Of course, one probably should avoid that if one is feeling particularly tense that day. XD

By the way, whose Piano Sonatas do you prefer? Mozart's or Beethoven's? It's a question that I find incredibly difficult to answer as I listen to more of their works, and I'd like to know your opinion.

I like both, and they're hard to choose because their styles are so vastly different. I guess it depends on my mood...right now, I'd like Mozart better. XD

Right now I seem to find a lot of Beethoven very crude. The reason that I love the no. 31 is because it is so elegant in comparison. Septomor I can answer whose I like more... I know that you haven't heard many of his Piano Concerti. Listen to the Fantasia and Sonata in C minor. You might like it.

K, I'll give it a shoot, I've played the fantasia (In f Maj? can't remember) but I hate it because it barely made musical sense to me.
