Even when the band branched out into synth pop on its early recordings, they were underpinned by a hard, Stonesy beat and lead singer Michael Hutchence's Jagger-esque strut. Ultimately, these were the very things that made INXS into international superstars in the late '80s. By that time, the group had harnessed their hard rock, dance, and new wave influences into a sleek, stylish groove that made their 1987 album Kick into a multi-million-selling hit. While that sound was their key to stardom, it also proved to be their undoing; the group became boxed in by their Stonesy pop-funk in the early '90s, when their audience became entranced by harder-edged alternative rock. In spite of declining sales, INXS soldiered on, continuing to tour and record for a dedicated fan base into the late '90s until Hutchence's death in 1997. click here to read moreINXS recently auditioned potential replacements for Michael as their lead singer in the reality TV series 'Rock Star: INXS'. YAY! I LOVE INXS!!! heart Awesome band. Michael's missed by all the fans.
I hate the fact that the remaining members are trying to replace him. No one will ever be able to replace him. He was one-of-a-kind.

He was one-of-a-kind. same. i've only seen one episode, and i think that's enough for me. the one episode i watched, the one guy had pants on that looked like the one's that Michael wore in the Elegantly Wasted video...kinda weird for me.

I haven't seen that video! eek Which is stupid because I LOVE that song, it's one of my favourites. I love the Listen Like Thieves video and New Sensation but my favourite's probably Need You Tonight... Michael's little smirk and when he goes "you're one of my kind" *dies* does it for me every time heart I like the bit at the start of Suicide Blond where they're talking about girls hitting each other with fishes too lol blaugh

Mediate is the vid with the cue cards and the sax solo...INXS was my first concert...saw them in '91...still think Michael Hutchence was Jim Morrison reincarnated in 80's new wave....I think I have most of their albums, but my fave song has to be Don't Change off Shabooh Shoobah...anyone else faves? the lyrics below...you'll see why cry
