It was another hot day in the nearly summer sky. The light shown brilliantly off the water, causing a gust of wind to shift over the surface. The water burst into tiny little droplets acting like glitter as the light reflected off of them before falling back into the pool, the wind being sparatic as it hit yet another area.
The ruby colored wyrm grinned. The water was amazingly beautiful, especially at times like this. He could never understand why anyone could hate the liquid, but there huddled yards away stood a blue haired woman, staring at the water in contempt. It was enough to make Ceonal laugh, he and Ahla certainly did make a very odd pair.
Do you think for once you could actually come out and enjoy life a little? He found Ahla very stuffy. He grew up with the humanoid for a little while before she and her sister left Red-River city. He hadn't liked her then and still wasn't quite sure he liked her now. How she had become his bonded he still wasn't quite sure, but there was something about Ahla that drew him to her. She was magical and so very different from other humanoids he had met, perhaps it was the mystery about her that kept him from ditching her, he considered.
Ahlasania, on the other hand, wasn't quite as enthusiastical about this whole situation. "Why should I be playing with you when Dahne is out there somewhere! We should be looking for her!" She growled at how vain Ceonal could be. She knew he was just trying to get her to loosen up but she didn't want to, she wanted to find Dahne. She couldn't bare to lose another sister.
Ceonal mused as he pulled his tail out of the shimmering substance. His hooves thumped on the ground as he came closer to the woman. Leaning his head down he gently nuzzled her to reassure her. We'll find Dahne, I swear on my life. Don't worry so much. He tried to smile but he knew his bonded was hurting inside, which caused him to hurt. He wished he could take all the pain away that she had but so far Ahla refused to let the wyrm close enough to help her.
As Ahla mumbled a thank you, Ceonal turned his head when he saw two hawks flying above the air drifts. He smirked. You know... flying sounds fun, what do you say?
Finally, a small smile found it's place on Ahla's mouth as she threw her arms around Ceonal's neck and allowed him to help her onto his back. She loved flying and Ceonal knew it. It was the one time they could spend together and actually act like real bonded. "Thank you." She whispered close to his ear as she leaned against his body.
Of course Ahla. Ceonal's signature grin reappeared as he spread his wings out behind him and took off into the air. As he was coasting on an air current, wind rushing over the two of them, he let his mind speak enter her ears. Ahla... are you sure you're ready to go back and face my parents?
Ahla sighed, she had hoped that Dahne would be with them when they went to see the pair. She knew Alaois would be furious with her for losing the girl. She let her eyes drift shut, letting the feel of utter freedom wash over her as there was absolutely nothing tying her down to the ground nor reality. "I suppose if I have to be."

It was another hot day and gold eyes watched clouds scud across the almost summer sky. Cloelia gave a contented sigh and, climbing to her hooves, stepped off the edge of her favorite ledge. As she dropped she spread out her wide golden wings to catch at the warm currents of air that rose from the hot sand below. Buoyed up on their draft, the light female glided gracefully beachwards, landing a few moments later with a soft series of thuds. Folding her pinions back against her flanks, Cloelia trotted towards the gleaming water, and the small figure that lounged just out of its reach.
“ ‘llo Bellie,” she said with a yawn, “Alright today?” though it was far from early she hadn’t spoken to her bonded yet today and despite knowing that nothing was wrong from their link, she wanted to hear from the green woman’s lips how the day had treated her so far.
The olive-green gnome pushed herself into a sitting position and stretched, yawing widely as she did so. “I’m alright,” she said with a nod. “Nothing too spectacular going on; just resting up ready for next week; you do remember you said you’d take me to the carnival even if you don’t hang around?” She was supposed to be meeting Ning there. He was always good about turning up but... well she always half expected him not to be at the appointed place at the appointed time.
Cloelia chuckled and nodded as the small woman flopped back down. “Yes, I remember; don’t you worry on that score. Might hang around with you for a little while, but not for long.” The black-haired woman would no doubt wish to spend as much time with her pretty sorcerer as possible; the pair didn’t see each other as often as the red wyrm knew her bonded would like. Still, if they saw each other as much as Bella probably wanted the grey man would never leave. She couldn’t help but feel sorry for her bonded on that score, she couldn’t imagine not being around Alaois, let alone the water wyrm not feeling for her as she did for him.
The thought of her mate brought a smile to her face a moment later however, driving all half-formed feelings of guilt for having him aside; where was the vivid-eyed serpent today? Sighing contentedly to herself, the gold-marked female dropped down into the sand beside her bonded; no doubt the long-bodied wyrm would turn up to find her before long and until then she might as well enjoy the warmth of the sun on her back and the presence of her bonded at her side. At a mental poke from the gnome, Cloelia chuckled softly and half-spread one wing to act as a sun-shade for the tiny creature.

The blue backed serpent let himself relax as his body shifted between above surface and below surface submerges in the water. His body coiled the moment it touched the water, glancing to and fro as if a water snake. He enjoyed the feel of the rich substance glittering off of every scale that rippled across him.
The water splashed at the giant creature. Every fish scattered at his presence though he didn't seem to care, he wasn't hunting, he was simply swimming, being free in the element that gave him life. Lsorir made his best to keep up with the wyrm at their daily activity but as usual even with Alaois trying to be slow the man was trailing behind.
Ceonal's brow raised when he saw his home coming into view. He let out a smile, circling above in the air a few times with Ahla clung to him. Half of this was to find a good spot to land, the other half was to show off and signal that he was there.
He dropped in and swooped, his wings held out straight to help blunt the ascent. As his hooves touched the ground it was a little rocky and Ahla let out a jerk. He half laughed. Still need to get use to landing with someone on my back I guess... He stated this sheepishly.

Cloelia however hadn’t been concentrating and the first she knew of her son’s arrival were the thuds of his landing. The female wyrm’s long neck twisted about and the frown that had been forming on her face dissolved as she took in the identity of her visitor. “Ceonal!” she exclaimed, clambering to her hooves with a grin. “How are you love I haven’t seen you in...” The gold-eyed female stopped, bemused by the figure on her son’s back. “Ahla?” What was she doing here? Thoroughly confused, the gold-hooved wyrm awaited an explanation of the woman’s presence either by the biped herself or by her son.
Bella sighed internally; great. She didn’t much like Ceoanl, complete man that he was, and she wasn’t exactly fond of Ahla either. Oh well, no help for it. Getting to her feet, the green woman moved over to her wyrm’s side and quickly scaled her dark red mane so as to put herself into the conversation. She had to admit that she was as bemused as Cloelia by the presence of the odd woman on Ceonal’s back and so, for once, she kept her silence and waited for them to speak first, her head tilted slightly in silent question.

Ahla's blank purple eyes lifted to see the stare of Cloelia and her bonded. She swallowed hard, clinging even more to Ceonal's back as she tried to avert her eyes. She hadn't seen either of them since Ceonal was a hatchling and she could tell her return wasn't exactly on good terms. They hate me! I should have stayed, I shouldn't have come here, I-
Ahla, settle down. I'm sure it'll be fine. Ceonal replied privately to his bonded before his pink eyes shifted to glance at his mother. Ignoring the question for the moment he stepped closer to her and gave her a gentle headbutt in affection. I've missed you Mother. He smiled at her before glancing down. You too Bella. He gave a grin, knowing that the gnome didn't like him but he didn't seem to care. It was good to see the scowly woman anyhow.
His eyes glanced back at the woman clinging to him. He shifted his head and gently nosed the top of her head. I found Ahla around the mountains about a month back. I know it seems a strange pairing, but she's my bonded. He lifted his head to look into his mother's eyes, waiting for hers and his father's reaction since he knew that whatever she felt would be carried immediately to Alaois.

Cloelia’s jaw all but dropped at her son’s words. “I ah... I’ve missed you too love,” she managed after a moment, blinking in surprise. Ahla? Alaois was not going to be a happy wyrm, but then when it came to his son he often wasn’t. Oh well, up to her to be positive then. “Well,” the starlight creature said eventually with a lopsided grin, “I’ll admit I’m more than a touch surprised... but if it makes both of you happy it makes me happy too.” She just hoped that her mate would come to feel the same way in time. She didn’t want her son’s choice to put a wedge between the pair.
After a few moments, Bella gave a grudging nod; whoever they were to her she wasn’t going to begrudge them their choice. A bond was a good thing to have, it had changed her for the better or so she felt; maybe it would do the same for this pair of idiots. “Yea, what she said... Missed you too Ceonal.” She sort of had. Sort of. Yes, she didn’t like his stupid manishness but... well his presence made Cloelia happy and he wasn’t that bad when it came down to it; he might even grow out of being a daft git in the end, you never knew. Sighing to herself, the frowny woman offered the gold-maned male a brief smile. “It’s been quite around here without you,” she added, wondering if that quietness was about to be shattered by a displeased creature of the sea. Well, doubtless she would find out one way or the other soon enough.

Ahla?! The rage was enough to send a tremor not only down Cloelia's link but also Lsorir's. Lsorir was in the middle of another dive with the feeling hit him. So wild it was that it made him lose focus and he ended up choking in a lung full of water. It took a moment for Alaois to realize this as he coiled his body down through the water to catch the two-legged's body in his claws to carry him to the shore.
Lsorir coughed heavily when air reached him. Turning his body over to let the liquid spill from his lungs. "Can you watch it next time crab?" Ahla? Was she really here? He picked up a handful of wet sand and threw it at the blue blob as it slithered up the shoreline.
Alaois grinned sheepishly for almost killing his bonded before the guilt melted away at the sight of his son and that thing on his back. He growled inwardly, carrying the emotion to his mate though he dulled it down quite a bit to avoid another fiasco. Are you alright Lsorir? He choose to ignore it for the moment as his giant blue head crouched near the man.
"Yeah, I'll be fine." Lsorir put a hand to his chest as he used Alaois' horn as leverage to stand. As his chocolate eyes turned to see the pair he gave a smile. My, it had been much too long since he had seen her last. He couldn't help but notice that in her shy state she seemed very cute. He had done some growing since they last parted, perhaps she had too. Maybe she had even changed her mind. Well, he could hope anyhow.
Alaois bemused as he glanced at his bonded and saw the flush over his tanned cheeks. He rolled up his eyes, not understanding the man's infatuation with the girl. Hey cherry face, stop straggling. He watched Lsorir blink and blush in embarrassment as he followed Alaois over.
Alaois stopped a little behind Cloelia before leaning his body forward to look at Ceonal. Welcome back. He stated softly, not even glancing at the woman on his back.
Thanks Dad. Well, that went better than he thought it would. He stayed oddly optimistic about the situation though he could feel Ahla's hesitation grow when the blue wyrm ignored her. Don't worry so much. He'll like you in no time. He tried to reassure Ahla but it actually did very little of doing so. Ceonal tilted his head back and tried to get Ahla to loosen and finally pull off him.
Lsorir saw this and stepped even closer, offering Ahla his hand.
I- Ahla hesitated before her eyes caught sight of a very drenched version of the white haired man she knew. Her eyes were a little wide before she hid them in embarrassment. "Hello Lsorir, Alaois" She added the last bit with a fake smile before putting her hand on Lsorir's and letting him lead her down.

Cloelia gave a mental snort of amusement, which she shared only with Bella, at the behavior of the two bipeds. ”Seems somebody still has a little crush,” she commented to her bonded as Lsorir extended his hand. “So,” she said aloud once she had nuzzled her mate in greeting, “not that I’m not glad to see you Ceonal, but what brings you back to us?” Perhaps he’d just come to introduce them to Ahla as his bonded; that was certainly possible. Still, it would be good to know before they settled down to talking and it had been something to say rather than focus on the fake smile the odd-eyed woman had given to her mate.
Bella nodded internally to Cloelia’s words, privately wishing the half elf good luck. It would be nice if at least one of them got their unrequited to love to requite, or whatever the right word was. Obviously she would rather it was her than him, she didn’t deny that bit of selfishness, but she wished Lsorir good luck nonetheless. Perhaps she’d have some luck next week... Well, she was allowed to dream, wasn’t she? Damn stupid bard, why couldn’t he have the decency to either fall in love with her or do something to make her hate him rather than want him? Bloody stupid man, it was all his fault. Sighing quietly to herself, the green-eyed woman dropped to a seat on her wyrm friend’s back and waited for somebody else to speak.

Ceonal chuckled at the question his mother gave him though his eyes were on the two people, one of which being his bonded before he addressed her. Am I not allowed to come home on a whim? When have I ever had a rhyme or reason for what I do? His eyes danced and he gave a prance with his hooves playfully.
Lsorir couldn't help but love Ceonal's fire. It was so much different than Alaois, foreign almost, though he'd admit having a wyrm that was that head driven would eventually drive him up a wall. Though he'd swear it would do the same to Ahla too, but somehow she had survived this long. After helping Ahla to her feet he gave a swift smile and let go of her hand before returning to Alaois' side. "He has a point Cloelia."
Alaois returned his mate's nuzzle as his similarly colored eyes met his son's. Well, in any case, it's good to have you home. Perhaps we can go fishing later and let the ladies leave on their errands. His eyes shifted to glance at Ahla indicating that he meant her too.

The red wyrm chuckled and shook her head. “Of course you are love, and I’m very glad to see you,” she said with a nod. “How’ve you been then?” she went on with a smile to her blue-winged son. He certainly looked well, and he seemed happy but she wanted details, to know where he’d been and what he was doing with his life. Every moment he told her about seemed precious to the gold-eyed wyrm, probably because he almost hadn’t had any freedom at all; she still remembered those frantic few days like it was only yesterday.

Oh, a little bit of this, a little bit of that. He grinned a bit as he stretched out his wings. I explored mountains and caves for a while, before stalking some human villages. Scared a few kids, that was fun. He chuckled, still remembering the look on the kids faces. It had been priceless. Met a few wyrms on my journey, but nothing all that exciting. What about you and Dad?

Cloelia smiled and shrugged her wings. “For my part I’ve been doing much the same as ever; wandering along the coast to look for things to do, helping Bella out with jobs and such.” She’d missed her son, as she’d said, but it had been nice to be without him for a while; to just do what she wanted when she wanted rather than concerning herself with motherly duties. It was... freer without Ceonal but a part of her was missing without him around. All in all, the starlight wyrm felt, to have him sometimes here and sometimes not was just exactly perfect.
Bella, feeling that her input wasn’t needed in the conversation right now, made herself more comfortable on her wyrm friend’s back.

Ceonal smiled toothly at his mother before nearing her and giving a light butt with his head. Pink eyes shifted toward the gnome and he tusseled her hair with his nose before stepping back to look at the longing sky. I hope you don't mind. Our journey's been a bit long and Ahla and I need rest. He looked at his father and Lsorir before motioning for Ahlasania to follow him into the cave (?).
There they laid down until it was morn.
For Ahla, however, it was different. Restlessness had taken over her body and she was unable to think much less sleep properly. Dahne's well being was etched horrifically into her mind and worry had caused her much pain. She knew it wouldn't be long until Alaois patronized her about the girl's whereabouts. Sometimes she had to wonder if Alaois wasn't Dahne's bonded instead of Lsorir's.
And then, there was also the vampire halfling. She'd be lying to say she hadn't thought about him while out on the road with Ceonal. But his mannerisms were edging too far on flirtaous. She had no idea what to do about him.
She let out a sigh and tried to curl up on the stone floor comfortably. Lsorir had offered to let her use his cot but she refused. It was odd enough being here with him muchless using his things.
At that moment she was startled by a rough noise outside the cave. Tap, tap it came until it frustrated her to no end. She stood to her feet, her long black and blue hair waving in curls behind her. Her cotton gown drifted to the floor and swayed by the movements of her legs. She put her hand to a stone and inched her head out to see what could be causing the intrusion but saw nothing. Sighing, she went to retreat back to Ceonal's side when a hand reached out of the darkness and grabbed her.
In the midnight air Ahla had disappeared just as the darkness had when the sun rose over the horizon.

It had been a good day. After Ceonal and Ahla had gone to rest she had spent the day just being with her wyrm. The way the red creature spoke of motherhood, and her own indirect experience of the feelings associated with it, were enough to make her want children of her own on days like that. Then however came evening and night and when she curled up in her comfortable heap of blankets in the shelter of the cave, she remembered all the things that made her not want to reproduce.
First of course there was the matter of men; there were few enough of them that she could even tolerate and the chances of her finding one of her own sort who she loved and who loved her at the same time were slim to none. Then there was the fact that wyrms had hatchlings, already aware and capable of seeing to their own physical needs, and humanoids had babies, which were intolerable.
A result of her late musings had been a rather poor night’s sleep, some odd dream about being chased by a hoard of screaming smelly babies, and had led her to open her eyes earlier than she was accustomed to. She blinked up at the rocky cave roof above her, groaned at the dimness that met her gaze and closed her eyes. It was too early. Sleep, just go back to sleep... But it was no good; she was awake now and might as well make the best of it.
Sighing to herself, the miniature woman sat up and rubbed her eyes before glancing about the cave. Well, at least she wasn’t the first awake; Ahla was already up and about by the looks of it.
Yawing cavernously, the gnome glanced about to make sure all present males were still asleep before slipping out of the over-large shirt she slept in and dressing hurriedly. As she pulled on her boots and hopped down from the raised hollow her bed nestled in to the cave floor, she gave Cloelia’s sleeping mind a poke. ”Wake up lazy hooves,” she sent, ”we have guests to provide breakfast for, remember? Fresh fish, you think, or just some of the smoked stuff from our stores?”
Cloelia, who had slept far better than her bonded, droused awake. ”Humm? Oh, fresh sounds good, fresh fish and fruit. Bread for those that like it if we have any left, too.”
Having communicated her feelings on the matter, the starlight wyrm prized her golden eyes open and lifted her long neck to as to look about. ”Too early,” she commented with a sigh and a shake of her head as she pushed herself to her hooves and stretched her wings out. Then she remembered, remembered properly that was, who their guests were and she turned her eyes onto Ceonal’s sleeping form with a smile. She had missed her boy, it was good to have him home... Humm, his bonded didn’t seem to be about. Well, perhaps she had slipped off to bathe or something; seemed plausible anyway.
Yawning widely, the female dragon settled her wings by her sides once more and moved as quietly as her hooves would allow to the cave’s entrance to look out at the new day with Bella. The gnome reached up absently to pat her knee and Cloelia smiled, sending a mental surge of affection to her green-skinned friend. She was glad that Ceonal had found himself a bonded even if it was one Alaois disliked. There was nothing like it in the world. At Bella’s silent agreement to this sentiment, the gold-marked female chuckled softly and stepped into the crisp morning air to have a proper stretch out where she wouldn’t accidentally kick anybody.

"Where the hell are you taking me?!" Came a raspy sneer from a mouth left carelessly ajar.
"Be still insect! If I had my way I'd be done with you!" The voice belonged to a woman a little older than Ahla, by the appearance ten years older. If Ahla had taken the time to notice the woman's appearance she would have seen that the woman was quite striking. Long thick blonde hair with dark brown highlights. Her brown eyes were marked by a thick charcoal outline. But the appearance of the woman was the last thing on Ahla's mind.
"Take her to the stalks, we'll deal with her later. I have some things to attend to." The woman lifted her hand into the air to tell the two wyrms she brought with her to carry on. Which they did, dragging Ahla with them.
Ambrosia stood there as the wind whipped her blonde hair into her face. A mischievous line pricked at her lips before she turned and began walking far away from the cave.
At the sound of movement Ceonal's body twisted slightly, his leg kicking sleepily at an imaginary fly. His hoof skid against the stone causing a shudder deep in his skin that awoke him with a sudden start. Nostrils raised high in the air with a sudden gasp before he became fully aware of what was going on. Blurringly, he blinked back the sleepiness before his pink eyes landed upon his mother. Mmmm.... Morning Miss Beautiful. Kicking slightly, he raised himself to all fours and stamped over to the fellow red wyrm and nuzzled her in greeting.
Almost immediately he noticed Ahla wasn't around. His head tilted this way and that trying to catch a glimpse of anywhere his bonded might be. What scared him the most was that his link with her had been severed. It happened occasionally when she wanted to be alone but it never stopped him from worrying no matter how many times it happened. Have you seen Ahla?
I wouldn't worry so much. The slithery tone left the water wyrm's mouth, spraying a subtle bit of water in the use. He had been out swimming again just like every morning to keep himself from drying too profusely.
Ceonal turned his head to stare the giant blue wyrm down but in the end thought better of it. It was already shaping up to be a bad morning, in his opinion, and a fight with the old man wouldn't certainly help things. Maybe his father was right and he shouldn't worry so much but he couldn't help it. Dahne was already lost and he wouldn't dare let Ahla disappear as well, not if he could help it.
