It was a long cold night. Frightened gold eyes lifted from the rock crag they had been hiding behind. Chill bumps formed on the small girls arms and legs as she wrapped her into a ball. It had been days since she had been separated from her older sister, days since she had had any real sense of security. She didn’t know why they had to leave to begin with. She wanted to be back, she wanted to be with Lsorir and Alaois, she wanted to be someplace where she would be cuddled and held safe. She even missed Tenar and Beetle, and even though the red beast was the last one on her mind, she would have given anything to hear Cloelia’s or her bonded’s voice in her head. However, it was all amiss, here she was in the mountain pass, cold and alone.

A sigh came from Dahne’s lips as she pulled a bag over from the corner of the hollow rock. She shifted through it until she found a lump of bread to eat. It was getting stale and crunched against her teeth as it slid down her throat, but she was so thankful for the substance she hardly noticed that it tasted rather bad. She’ll find me… she has to. She frowned at the thought that her sister might never find her. Was she even looking? Dahne shook the notion from her head. She had to be. Ahla would never leave her alone, she swore it.

Slowly curling up in a ball on the hard stone floor, she used the pack as a blanket and her hands as a pillow. Her eyes shifted under the sleepy weight, lulling herself into an uncomfortable sleep.

Days had turned into weeks in that mountain. Dahne had run out of food and had to learn how to move from her spot. In doing so she found a pond in the valley below and taught herself to fish and how to make a fire to cook. She refused to leave the rocky area, convinced that Ahla would soon find her, but as time passed her hope began to fade and the normally optimistic girl began to fade in the rustics of a dreary world. If Ahla couldn't find her, perhaps it was time to go look for Ahla. However, just how she was going to do that was beyond her.

Thankfully, today was a warm day. Warm enough to bathe in the pond. Dahne reveled in this. The water felt so good as it ran between her toes and over her body. As Dahne allowed herself to relax in the liquid she let her mind wander, was her sister alright? Could something have happened and was that why Ahla hadn't found her yet? She wouldn't have it. She wouldn't think about it. Ahlasania was a strong individual, stronger than even she and if she could survive this long on her own so could Ahla.

Tredes' eyes closed as he stepped from the enclosure into the faded light cast by a crescent moon. His head was held high as a passing wind caressed his scaly hide. He heard faint footsteps as a man walked out beside him. The man's dark brown hair shifted in a passing wind, his faded crystal eyes glanced over the horizon. "It's getting late." He replied as he glanced at his dragon companion.

Tredes gave a nod, his tail flicking behind him. It is indeed. His brown eyes never left the scenery.

"You worry too much Brother." The man stated, a small smile pulling at his pale lips. "If anyone knows Arei the way that I do she is perfectly fine."

Tredes mused but gave a rather slow nod. He slowly let himself relax as his mind drifted from the halfling. You're right Farrow. The shadow turned and smiled lightly at the humanoid. Farrow was one of only a handful of two-leggers to ever be admitted into the clan. The man had proven himself many times to be useful to their rights and was able to possess items that would otherwise be difficult for the league of dragons to obtain. A neccessity, but one of the only Tredes would ever admit to needing.

Farrow knew that Tredes worried about the light halfling more than he'd ever admit. Tredes had become close to her while she was apart of the clan even if he had pleaded her to leave multiple times.

Arei was one of an anamoly. The daughter of a light wyrmess who was raped by a shadow. Heir to the Dralimon Clan. But after the death of her father Tredes pushed her to flee. She had become so consumed by the death and hatred in the clan that he worried for her, but she had held enough of an innocence that he hoped part of it resurfaced. As much as Tredes found himself living for the clan he wasn't a mindless killing machine. Nor had he ever wanted the girl to become one either.

Farrow let out a light smirk. Sometimes he almost wondered if Tredes had a human heart. A cold, shriveled human heart, but one nonetheless. He then let out an inward chuckle, maybe that was what had happened to his heart.

Tredes' head was cast to the floor before his eyes glanced at the man. I'm going for a night hike. Don't wait up.

Farrow chuckled. "Wait up for you old man? You're comical."

Tredes slowly gave into a smile of his own before jumping off the cliff into the night.

As Tredes left a figure emerged out of the darkness, stepping near Farrow. As the light hit the face a plait of pale hair could be made out, belonging to a soft face with brown eyes. The woman crossed arms over her chest as she stared out at the traveling wyrm who seemed to be consumed in the shadows overlapping him from the mountainside. "Should I be surprised in his interest of the impureling?" Her voice was as steady as a flowing river and yet as deadly as a crashing waterfall.

Farrow stared out at the horizon, not even making eye contact with the only other humanoid in the establishment. He had never trusted her and it was really no secret about his dislike for the woman. "He took a very special interest in Arei from the beginning. I think he saw himself in her."

"I'd rather he hadn't. That wyrm can be nothing but trouble for us." She stated rather cooly, returning the non-gaze between the two.

"Rather you like it or not Ambrosia, that wyrm was our future at one point."

The blonde woman shifted her eye sight just a little though she still didn't look at Farrow. "Was being quite the lucritive term, if you ask me. I believe her father made a huge mistake by bringing her here. She's still her mother's child and she has proven that many times." Her eyes finally caught the much taller man's. "And I will not let her destroy what we have built, not after all these years."

Lady Rose, if you pardon me. A muffled voice came from behind the pair causing the woman to turn to see a fire wyrm holding a small girl with black hair in his mouth. We caught this thing near the cliffs. We couldn't find Tredes so we thought you might know what to do with it.

The human's eyes widened just a bit as she stepped forward. She grabbed the girl's chin roughly in her hands so she could see into the golden orbs that stared back at her. "Take her to the holding cells, Tredes will deal with her when he returns."

Yes Milady. The wyrm nodded as he trotted off with the specimen.
