Simple...but took me forever!
The Doll
Unlike a doll
I will not break
My hearts is real
But hers is fake
A painted smile
For all to see
I wish her smile
Belonged to me
A wooden face
With yarn for hair
Mine is tangled
From lack of care
Her eyes of glass
Sparkling and glad
Make mine seem
So dull and sad
Arms extended
Reaching for you
Mine are folded
You can’t get through
A porcelain body
Of small design
Very delicate
Unlike mine
Long slender legs
Skinny and tall
The toys are all jealous
Of my porcelain doll
All alone
She sits on a shelf
Overprotected
Much like myself
Then someone comes
And drops the doll
No one is there
To break her fall
All that’s left
Is the wooden face
And on her cheek
A tear is placed
