[this is my very first into thread thing.. so if I suck at this.. Mods! Feel free to change ANYTHING! ^^]
WARNING: Settings below use my journal. You do NOT need to make your journal like mine. Be creative! ^^

- Step 0: In order to get to your journal, go to Profile, then click, Journal. In the picture, you will see where Profile and Journals are located!
Step 1: Create a name for your journal and post and entry. That way, you can edit all the pictures and colors later!
Step 2: Now that you have created and posted a little something, time for the silly editing of the colors and pictures! Click Preferences!
Step 3: Now, for the Journal Title, you have it typed in already, but here, you can change it again if you like! In the Journal Description, you may type in stuff about you, or what your journal is about. I'm boring so I left it blank. XD As for the header.. this part gets a bit confusing. I wanted a picture as my header, so I have what I put in that slot. Replace the link with a link of your picture.
The picture below tells you what you can add in your header! ^^
Step 4: Now, you will see where you choose how to display your blog and how others will see it! ^^ For journal type, you may choose Daily Journal or Weblog. If you intend to update it everyday, make it a daily journal.. it shows one post per day. If you want to leave a page with a week of your posts, turn it into a weblog! Click Yes if you want a title for every entry you make. Click Yes for allowing comments if you want everyone to add a comment. Click Only Friends if you want only your friends to leave comments. Click yes for Public View if you want ALL of Gaia to see your journal. Check Only Friends for your friends only.
Step 5: Now comes the fun part.. choosy fun and wacky colors! Or clean and refined dark colors! ^^ For the Template, below is a list of what you can choose. Read it and choose what you think is best for yours! ^^
Step 6: Now, it's color choosing time! Title BG Color is the color of the background with the title. Headline is what color you want as a headline color. Pst BG is the place where your entry is. Post Alt BG is different colors for every other post. Sidebar BG is where it houses your archives and avi. Comment BG and alt bg is your comments background color! ^^
