For those of you all that haven't seen it... SEE IT!
I was definitely a huge fan of the original musical long before the movie came out. I'd have to say that the movie was a perfect adaptation of the musical! It blew my mind and I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. Parts that were left out (which were very few in number) were ok to be left out for none of them were important or some would have the audience figuring out some of the big plot secrets too early so it just made the movie better.
The casting was spectacular. Johnny Depp was the perfect actor to play Sweeny Todd. Not to mention Tim ******** Burton was the best person in the universe to pick up and direct a movie SO dark and perfect of his style! It's so gory but a whimsical and great musical that is a must to listen to.
my brain explodes from happiness!

Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait... So yer telling me that Timmy Burton and Johnny Depp are gonna work together again? That is so cool! I have to see this one then cuz I didn't care much for Charlie and the chocolate factory to tell the truth, it was ok but not great like the scissor hands. So the original was a musical? I don't like musicals much so I'm hoping this movie won't be one. mrgreen

It is though. A musical I mean sweatdrop Hollywood is getting into the habbit of making hit musicals into musical movies now because like remakes, foreign films being westernized, and other conversion movies (VG, book, and comics) you already have a source, all you need to do is slap it with a fresh coat of paint and you have an instant hit. Since there's already an established fanbase of the thing being converted you're pretty much guaranteed to make money on it.

Hmm, that doesn't sound good for me at all! I hope it's nothing like "Rent". I couldn't stand that one! It seemed very boring to me... 3nodding

Well, this one is about a psycho killer if that helps... Rent was about a bunch of people with Aids lol. If you don't like musicals you probably won't like it, pretty simple. I myself kind of hate musicals, so despite being tempted by Tim Burton's involvement, I'm probably gonna pass on this one.

Well, I'm gonna give this one a chance but if it turns out boring I can always change the channel (I'll wait for it to get released on cable). mrgreen

Sorry K but I don't listen to the critics or the award shows (I never watch them actually). I found "The English Patient" to be real boring and that was an academy award winner. I wondered, what kind of people would think this movie deserves an award of any kind anyway? rolleyes

Yeah Golden Globes are hit or miss. But their presence is better than nothing. It at least gives a higher chance for quality. Like you'll never see a Uwe Boll movie with a golden globe (I hope).

Ha-ha! Yeah, let's hope so. rofl
But you know, till about a few months ago, I had no idea who Uwe Boll was till I read about him on EGM in Spanish. Some guy called Sean Baby wanted to punch the guy, ha-ha! mrgreen
