It was three days after the incident at the school that Susan and the twins had their first training session. This time, she had rented an conference room out.
"Good morning, you two!" She smiled brightly at them "So, in football you spend hours watching your opponents' game plan, is that right? And then you decide what your actions will be from there. You train your mind and your body to do the work you need to do. Some famous pro-footballer...that guy who's the youngest something...I don't know, he recently said that the whole game is orchestrated. That's how you become good players, right?" She looked from one to the other. If they'd known her, they knew the pleasant look was the good cop right before the bad was going to slam down.

If the twins had ever dreaded a training session, this was the one. They weren't quite sure how Susan was going to react to their first mission, if one was generous to call it that. So they were wary when they entered the conference room. It was not exactly the best place for training and... there appeared to be a tv.
The twins listened to Susan and decided they did not like the sound of this conversation. "Yeah... we do that a lot before big games..." Keagan admitted.

"Only big games?" Susan's now serious eyes searched theirs, "Is that how you make a good team? Let the little things go by and hope you can do well with the big ones?"

Kaden answered this time. "We do it before all our games, but the most time is spent reviewing for the big games beforehand..."
Where was this going? And why did they get the feeling they didn't want to know the answer to that question?

"Right, so you know your teams that you come against, especially the large ones. You know their best plays and their worst ones, their favorites and the least favorites. You even know some of the personalities of the best players by watching them. You basically know how they're going to play the game and how it's going to go before you set foot out there, because you've studied well. It isn't all about skill and hoping it works, it's not all about practice and training and building muscles and throwing ranges. It's about knowing the opponent as well. Yes?"

"Yeah..." came the hestiant reply. Football was definately more than a game, it was a lifestyle. To be good, you lived football constantly. You watched it on tv, listened to it on the radio, and practiced and played it with your team.

"Well, being a super isn't like that." Susan frowned as she dropped that, "You can't plan for what's going to happen next, you don't even know who you're going to be seeing next. You can't just walk into something and follow an action movie scene and expect it to work. Movies ignore things like laws of human nature and physics and...oh, reality. You have to learn how to think on your feet, and you have to learn how to handle a situation correctly. So, in your position, when you see a evolved threat, what's the first good idea?"

The twins blinked at the sudden change and both stared blankly back at Susan for several long moments. Movies ignored reality? Since when? You could do that kind of stuff with exploding cars and such... Yup, their minds wandered for a few moments before they remembered that Susan was expecting an answer.
"Uh..." was their brillant response.

"How about calling your supierors FIRST?" Susan demanded, "In that situation, it would have been easy! Then assessing the situation. Do you really think that, if those two had been any more dangerous, you could have handled them both? You're lucky they were distracted! And you should consider your surroundings! You started to DRAG those people with you before you realized they were still attached to those dodos! What if that rope would have been acidic when it slapped you? What then? You'd have ended up with half of a face gone, for one thing... And for that matter, what made you THINK that you could take those two on? Do you know how LUCKY you were not to unmerge? You know you have difficulty with that still!"
She paused to get her breath and glare.

The boys cringed as the onslaught of Susan's wrath rained down upon them. All hell had broken loose. The silence hung for a long moment as the twins slowly tried to figure out if they'd done anything RIGHT.
One and one began to click together in Kaden's head and he groaned as he glanced at the tv. She was going to make them watch it, wasn't she?! It was bad enough she was yelling at them and telling them they'd done it all wrong to begin with, but now to make them watch it?! It was pure and simple torture.
Keagan hadn't discovered two yet. "Acidic rope?" His voice was disbelieving as if he thought maybe Susan was going a bit far there on the making it sound bad stuff.

"Yes, acid rope. Like the acidic mud sling that one man in the rally shot out at the governor." She glared. She doubted they knew what she was talking about.
"Come, sit, let's go through this together., It's not the greatest of videos, but...Well, if you sit there and groan, I'll make it longer!" She threatened.

Keagan would just have to take Susan's word for it. If it hadn't involved an athlete, they didn't know about it. However, Susan's next comment almost made both boys groan, though they managed to suppress that somehow. Next time they would just run away from the evolveds!

Susan went through the whole thing with the,, pointing out faults and things she had observed. She mentioned that perhaps it would have better to go a little lighter in this situation, but it was a good thing to jump in when they did. Who knew what they would have done with those teenagers? She wondered out loud about the stupidity of the school officials, and didn't mention the fact that she wondered if that's why the boys were so stupid, if they were being educated by THAT. But then she did praise them on their merge, how they hadn't even winced at the slapping and kicking, albeit childish, she figured that the kick to the shins hurt, and she praised them on not falling apart, but did so with a scold. They'd never managed a merge under pressure for a long time before.
Then she took a breath, "Perhaps next time, you should introduce yourselves as heroes when some wayward souls are trying to be heroic and end up...being idiots." She smiled. "They may have listened better." Yes, the advice Susan was giving now was all intelligence based. "So, now, I know some things that we need to focus on in training."
Hah, things were going to get fiercer.

The boys glanced at each other. It'd been... horrible, but they knew they'd done a pretty pathetic job of it. They defintately were going to need a name if they were going to be stuck being in these sort of situations again. Dreading the answer, Kaden went ahead and asked, "Like what?"

"Spontaneous situations. To make you think on your feet." Susan smiled, "Because life isn't orchestrated. Critical thinking is just as important, or more than, being able to contribute to a situation. Understand?"
