Is anyone else here a fan of HBO's Deadwood? I've been a fan since I saw the first episode, and I have them all on DVD.

If you are a fan, what attracted you to the series? Why do you like it? Who's your favorite character and why? What did you think of the series finale? Are they even working on a movie?

I don't know what attracted me at first, but I just love how raw the show is. It doesn't seem to pull any punches and just has a very human and unclean look at the lives of people who were for all intents and purposes, outlaws. I loved how the "hero" was actually a really stubborn guy who tried to maintain the peace, while the person who was supposed to be the "villian" was in reality the coolest guy the show. Honestly, how could you watch that show and NOT like Al Swearegan?

Speaking of Al, he's definitely my favorite character. He was (Generally) calm, cool, collected, and calculating. Even when he was in a fit of rage he was always in control. Not to mention he had the entire place under his thumb and had the best lines.

I didn't really like the series finale. I thought it just ended as opposed to giving it closure. And I hope they're working on those movies they said they were going to do.

So, are there any other "Hoopleheads" (That's what I call "Deadwood" fans) here?
