 "Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"I said NO, Betelgeuse! Learn to use your goddamn ears!" The mare shouted suddenly, stamping her dark-colored hoof in irritation. God, did this guy ever learn when to quit?! Apparently not.
"Butbutbut--!"
"Don't ask again or I'll crush your skull into tiny pieces and never speak to you again!" She snapped, ears pinned to her skull, and straighted her head and set off at a bouncy trot towards the line of trees that marked the beginning of the two-legger's.
"Mistress! Please, can we -- look out for that fallen log right there just two yards ahead of you -- please, please go to the ocean? I haven't seen it in years!"
The paint mare lengthened her strides a bit and jumped easily over the log she could not see, ears still pinned and she scowled to her side. "Why can't you simply go there yourself and stop bothering me about it?"
"For one, I'm bound to you. Two, even if I wasn't, if I went anywhere near there, more likely than not the winds would tear me to shreds in an instant! So will you please go, Mistress?"
"No."

The ghost ichsa walked about the shrines never once breaking a blade of grass as he walked. He was enjoying the new night and hopefully it would be in peace and quiet unlike the other night when he had met a blood sucking bat boy stallion. Not that he didn't mind meeting him. They had at least one thing in common so it made up for it. He just wanted to walk in peace for now.
Walking in the silence lasted perhaps only a few minutes before he heard arguing nearby. He groaned to himself before going invisible where no one could see him. As he neared the arguing couple he noticed that at least one of them was a ghost as well. His invisibility most likely wouldn't work on other ghosts he realized. He stood nearby and waited to see if at least the ghost would notice him.

"BUT MISTRESS!!" Betel shouted in frustration, clenching his clawed hands into fists. "I haven't seen the ocean in ages! Why can't we go? It's not that far, only a few days! Why can't we go? Can't we please go? Please, Mistress Bella?"
But Bella wasn't listening to a word he was saying now as he floated along beside her. She'd slowed to a halt and was in the process of swiveling her ears about slowly. She blinked her milky white eyes, settling her leathery wings comfortably on her back. "There's a ghost here," she said finally, once her companion had shut his beak.
"Huh?" He asked, perking right up. "A ghost? You mean, a visible one?" He quizzed, twirling in circles. "Oh, goody! Where is he?" He asked, flicking his tufted tail.
The paint mare ignored him completely, stretching out tendrils of her powers to find said ghost. She strengthened Betel's soul a bit more, so he would be able to be seen and converse with the ghost as well. After a moment her power touched upon the long dead soul, and all tendrils swiftly spilled to that one beam of invisible energy, and the mare immediately pulled all pieces of this ghost together. It wasn't hard at all, since most of him was already together, just a few spare fragments here and there. It was a great help that the wind was little to none at the moment; that was probably why he was nearly whole. She blinked her white eyes again as she finished piecing him together, and held him whole so that, should the wind pick up again, it wouldn't bother him at all. "Speak, ghost, tell us your name, and what business you have here. It makes my job easier when a soul is in such a complete state as yours."

Staring at the mare he tried to figure out how she had been able to tell that he was there while he was invisible. None could do that save for other ghosts. "My name is Vlad. My business is my own. I will tell you that I was just out for a walk enjoy the peace before being rudely interrupted by you two." He said his voice tainted with anger. He allowed himself to become visible to them not quite noticing that the mare was blind. "Besides how could you tell that I was here? No one should be able to tell that I'm here and I know it wasn't your little friend that told you." Vlad accused glaring at her.

She flicked her ears lazily forward, rustling her leathery wings a bit to a more comfortable position. "I don't rely on sight, Vlad," she explained, a hint of dislike in her voice.
Before she could continue, Betel floated over in front of the ghost, motioning graciously towards the paint mare. "You are now in the presence of my Mistress, Bellatrix. She is--"
"A Speaker," she interrupted, glaring in the direction of her permanent companion. "I speak to ghosts, the dead, and long departed souls like yourself. I can sense when a ghost is near, as well, which was how I knew you were there whether you were invisible or not," she explained with a snort, walking a few paces forward in a half circle. "Betelgeuse doesn't need to tell me when he sees other ghosts, for half the time he doesn't notice them at all. I rely on him strictly for noticing obstacles in my way and the living nequus. He's hardly any help at all with those already dead."

Vlad stared at the one called Betelgeuse as he spoke. "Mistress? Please don't expect you to call you anything fancy. Such a title you are not deserving of if you ask me." He said with a smirk on his face. At the remark of being dead and departed he turned his gaze back at the mare. "Departed? If I was departed then I would not be walking these lands now would I? I made be dead but that does not make me departed." He walked over to the mare intent on getting a closer look as this so called speaker. Not impressed with her after his look he turned towards her companion.
"Betelgeuse is it? A pleasure to meet you. Though why you stay with this annoying mare is one of your more stupid moves you've probably made in your life and death if you ask me." Vlad said to the ghost. "Though maybe you have your reasons. Perhaps you can tell me why you two are in this area and rudely interrupting my peace and quiet."

The paint mare snorted, flicking her ears lazily to the side. "Pfft, please. I don't expect that title from anyone."
A huff issued from the little ghost as he glared at Vlad, crossing his arms and flapping his wings in irritation. He didn't need to to stay in the air; as it was, the flapping did nothing as he continued to float in that same spot. "My Mistress deserves much more for her talents than you could ever understand!" He closed his eyes, shoving his beak into the air as he turned his head off to the side, a picture of obvious, self-important displeasure. "I am most honored to be Mistress Bella's companion, and as it is I did not ask you for your input, so kindly keep your opinions to yourself unless they're asked for."
Bella merely blinked; inwardly, though, she was rather surprised. She knew Betelgeuse was an annoying little irritation, but she had no idea how he viewed his place with her nor how much it meant to him, nor how actually devoted he was. She canted her head to the side, offering the ghost a smirk. "My business is my own," she replied with a non-chalant air, seemingly blowing off the ichsa ghost. "And, silly ghost, you do not have to be in the realm of souls to be departed. You've departed from the realm of the living, you simply refuse to leave that which you have already left, so to speak. In essence, you are caught between the worlds; the realm of the living, and the realm of the dead. If you look at it that way, you are only half-departed."

Vlad glared at the annoying little 'companion' of the speakers when he told him that he should keep his opinions to himself. "Maybe I don't want to keep my opinions to myself. Here's another opinion for ya just to annoy you even further. Shouldn't companions be seen and not heard?" He asked with a smirk on his face before turning to the mare. "Let me ask you this mare. When you die would you rather stay in this dimension or go to the one of the dead where it is as boring as it can be?" His glare now more focused on her. "Besides the land of the living is so much more fun to torment then the land of the dead where everyone is already dead. I have no interest in joining the dead in their land and I never will."

Betel scoffed, flicking his tailtip irritatedly. "Since I cannot be seen by any I make myself heard to some instead. You wouldn't understand, being such a simple creature with a one-track mind."
Bella merely blinked at Vlad, unfazed by his attempt to irritate them both. She merely snorted. "I'd rather join the land of the dead. The wind is a b***h for all ghosts, and the living annoy me far too much," she answered simply, turning around and beginning to plod off, ears pointed lazily forward. "And of course you will. Ghosts don't last for an eternity, you know," she said as she let go of his spirit, allowing him to be subject to the wind's torment.
Betel twitched his wings, then floated quickly over towards Bella. "Mistress Bella, where are we going?"
"To the ocean."

Vlad watched as the pair left him. Perhaps I should have shown a little more respect. He thought as he held his ground against the wind a few minutes longer. Maybe he would see them again and he could make up for his behavior. He would not apologize for today no...but he would show a little more respect to the speaker on the next encounter...maybe. He allowed the wind to rip him to shreds as it blow harder. Ignoring the pain he let himself float on the wind.
