Having snuck away from the nurse that had accompanied the two boys outside, Eirlys sat stock-still at the water's edge, wondering if it would be strong enough to hold his weight. The large expanse of looming, dark ice seemed to call to him.. or perhaps that was just the ducks quacking as they curiously glided towards the small blonde haired child. He glanced back at the nursery in doubt and caught his guardian's wrinkled old face currently creased into a smile, sitting on a bench in the distance. She would be preoccupied feeding the birds a while longer, but surely he had to make a decision soon. Turning to the child next to him, he asked with a wicked grin: "Whaddya think? Dya wanna go chase some ducks?" while patting the ice invitingly.

Relner shivered a little from cold, though it didn't really bother him. He had been watching the duckies rather intently until the boy beside him had asked him about them. He swayed in thought a little, it had become a small ritual of his when thinking. He flexed his wing. "Okay." He replied quietly, smiling ever so slightly. He touched the ice with a hand, it sent a shiver down his little spine and through his hollow wing. It was a pleasant crisp feeling of cold, and soon enough Relner stepped out onto the ice bravely. Just a little nervous, he took a more careful next step forward. Looking back at the blond boy to see if he was coming, Relner was a little thrilled at the beginning of the adventure.

When he had first seen the boy now bravely taking small steps on the icy lake that lay ahead, he had been quite surprised, and even after having had some time to think he still wondered why his back had something sticking out from it. Looking over his shoulder at his own back and finding nothing, he frowned slightly but quickly shook it off as he noticed the boy was already halfway to the ducks. "H-hey! Wait up!" he shouted, stumbling to his feet and taking his first wobbly steps on the ice. The slipperiness wasn't so bad once you got used to it, he found, and briskly gained on the black haired one.
Coming as closely to running as a small toddler on ice could, he caught up on the other just as they approached the flock of ducks. Heaving his chest up and down from the effort, he smiled to the boy and began to mimic the soft quacking of the ducks, flapping his arms like he was one of them. "Dya think we can catch one?" he wondered out loud, taking a few steps closer and noticing that caused the ducks to take a few steps back.

Relner paused momentarily as the boy behind him asked him to. Soon enough, they were both going at the same rate and were quickly gaining on the ducks which surprisingly were still around at this time of the year; it was winter after all.
"I don' know..." Relner replied quietly, feeling a little awkward as he imitated the boy's mimicking of the ducks. They did not seemed to be fooled as the two small children preyed closer to their cluster of feathers. He tried flapping his only bone wing like a bird would, hoping that would reassure the ducks that he was similar to them in some very very minimal way in physical looks. "Wha'd we do with one if we did...?" It had just hit him that there was not much one could do with a duck if one happened to catch one... Well, other then petting it a bit. But he guess it would be nice to feel what feathers were like, since he had none. It would hopefully be worth all the trouble.

Totally unaware of all going on around him, the blonde haired child continued his soft quacking and clumsily swayed towards a big oily duck that seemed engrossed in pulling a piece of plant out of the dark ice. The tip of Eirlys' pink tongue slowly made its way between his lips, a sign that the boy was "hunting" with utmost concentration. Arms outstretched and brows furrowed, he made a final dash forward and would have jumped the duck, were it not for someone asking a question. Mid-air he pulled a ridiculous face as he considered the query and at the same time realised the effort that this took made him forget how he was planning to land. Landing chin-first in front of the creature he had been so desperate to catch, the young boy groaned and lifted his head only to see the duck waddle away.
"Ugh..", Eirlys sighed, letting his now throbbing head fall back to the cool ice. "What do you mean, wha'd we do with it?" came his muffled voice, sounding surprisingly calm for someone who had just unwillingly done a very difficult (and painful) ice skating move. Raising himself up, he scrunched his eyes at the other boy. "We'd pet it and name it Duckie and it would lay eggs for us and stuff! And.. and.. maybe I could ask Duckie where he got those wings, because a lot of people have them and I dunno know why I don'" he said, the last part softly murmured, with blue eyes downcast and his hands busily fidgeting at his scarf.
