As much as I loathe the fact, I can't deny that that is almost unquestionably Vergil... On the upside, at least no one can say he isn't dead now. ^_^

That sword is the Yamato, the angle just sucks a** in that picture, and the demon itself appears to be a hybrid of Vergil's DT and Nelo Angelo forms.

Nelo Angelo horn style? Check.
Scaliness? Check.
Yamato? Check.
Saya in the arm for Yamato? Check.

I don't want this to be Vergil. I wanted Vergil to stay not only dead, but gone. But you know what, not even I can deny the ever mounting evidence that the demon in Nero is good old dead as a doornail Vergil.
And I swear I will ******** cry if Vergil moves back into the world of the living by the end of the game. I will cry, I will find a way to record that, and I will put it somewhere to let the world know my sorrow at them completely dragging that a** back from where he belongs in order to sell out the plot to annoying fanboys and girls around the world.

*Pats on back* I'd feel the same way if I wasn't overwhelmed by fangasms.

On the other hand, it was fairly predictable Vergil was coming back from the fan demand and the producers like of him, so I guess you prepared for the near inevitability in some way right? Right?

*jaw drops to the ground*

They really freaking did it... I'm in shock and disbelief. But the evidence is overwhelming, so its undeniable.

All I can say, is good grief.

I really don't think Nero is Vergil, at least I hope not because that would be lame. Nero is probably some science experiment to create the ultimate demon hunter using Vergil's power. Or maybe he was created as some kind of key embued with Vergil's essance to open the door to the demon world. There is a crazy scientist dude in this game.

It's probable that Nero's just a normal guy who got (un)lucky that Vergil decided to possess his arm.

However, I'd like to put forward an interesting point and theory. The developers intend to keep Nero going as a main character it seems, but if Vergil is possessing him how could they do that and keep Vergil going as they like him too?

The answer is simple: Vergil isn't possessing Nero. At least, not at the beginning. However, Nero's unique state as being possessed in his right arm but keeping his free will means that Vergil found his arm the best vessel to use to create a path for himself to manifest back in the Human World. Thus, it's only when Nero comes into contact with Yamato that he gets Vergil in his arm (and DT to boot) and thus he's able to keep his powers after Vergil leaves his arm, but Vergil's influence means he can manifest the demon that possesses him anyway.

Thus you get Vergil as a seperate character once more and Nero with full powers. That's just conjecture but feh.

What isn't conjecture is the first sentance I said though, that's heavily implied to be true/almost right.

That would be interesting. Has info come out on why Dante is on the Island? I want to know why Dante and Nero fight in the first place. And I wonder who the real bad guy is in this game?

I try not to prepare for anything. Preparation for specific events hype things more than they should and inevitably lead to being let down.... I think that's part of why I enjoy DMC2 while so many other people loathe it; I wasn't expecting anything aside from a few hours of hack&slash fun, and that's what I got and a bit more.
I do however, quickly recover from irritations and the like from things like this by finding the bright side ASAP; In this case, Vergil being the spirit being proof that he died. I'm sure if he does come back to life completely I'll find something to like about the outcome, though the crying will still happen first.

1. It's assumed to be the Yamato. Granted we could be wrong, but this is the most likely case.
2. o.O You're kidding about not knowing that right? A lot of videos have shown why already.
3. My money is on Gloria actually. I find it strange that a guy that's rather reclusive, Agnus, would just go off and do what he's done without some sort of manipulation.
Basically of the three potential villains I see the roles as follows; Gloria is the temptress and overall mastermind, Agnus is the manipulated one who makes things happen, and finally Credo is likely to be the puppet that is completely unaware of what the two of them are up to until it's far too late.

Does it matter what Nero is to Vergil in all honesty? The gameplay looks confusing but it will still kick a**. Worse comes to worse the story can be forgotten like in DMC2 rofl But in all honesty that ghost looks alot like Vergil but then again my friend had a theory that Nero could be a reborn Sparda or actually Sparda. So let's wait until the game comes out before we say anything else. But before that...NERO IS BADASS!!! sweatdrop
