For all the pagans out there or just practitioners please post your spells, techniques, teas, meditations or just anything that you feel should be said.

These are standard in a B.O.S so Here they are

Wiccan Rede

Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust.
Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.

For tread the Circle thrice about to keep unwelcome spirits out.
To bind the spell well every time, let the spell be said in rhyme.

Light of eye and soft of touch, speak you little, listen much.
Honor the Old Ones in deed and name,
let love and light be our guides again.

Deosil go by the waxing moon, chanting out the joyful tune.
Widdershins go when the moon doth wane,
and the werewolf howls by the dread wolfsbane.

When the Lady's moon is new, kiss the hand to Her times two.
When the moon rides at Her peak then your heart's desire seek.

Heed the North winds mighty gale, lock the door and trim the sail.
When the Wind blows from the East, expect the new and set the feast.

When the wind comes from the South, love will kiss you on the mouth.
When the wind whispers from the West, all hearts will find peace and rest.

Nine woods in the Cauldron go, burn them fast and burn them slow.
Birch in the fire goes to represent what the Lady knows.

Oak in the forest towers with might, in the fire it brings the God's
insight. Rowan is a tree of power causing life and magick to flower.

Willows at the waterside stand ready to help us to the Summerland.
Hawthorn is burned to purify and to draw faerie to your eye.

Hazel-the tree of wisdom and learning adds its strength to the bright fire burning.
White are the flowers of Apple tree that brings us fruits of fertility.

Grapes grow upon the vine giving us both joy and wine.
Fir does mark the evergreen to represent immortality seen.

Elder is the Lady's tree burn it not or cursed you'll be.
Four times the Major Sabbats mark in the light and in the dark.

As the old year starts to wane the new begins, it's now Samhain.
When the time for Imbolc shows watch for flowers through the snows.

When the wheel begins to turn soon the Beltane fires will burn.
As the wheel turns to Lamas night power is brought to magick rite.

Four times the Minor Sabbats fall use the Sun to mark them all.
When the wheel has turned to Yule light the log the Horned One rules.

In the spring, when night equals day time for Ostara to come our way.
When the Sun has reached it's height time for Oak and Holly to fight.

Harvesting comes to one and all when the Autumn Equinox does fall.
Heed the flower, bush, and tree by the Lady blessed you'll be.

Where the rippling waters go cast a stone, the truth you'll know.
When you have and hold a need, harken not to others greed.

With a fool no season spend or be counted as his friend.
Merry Meet and Merry Part bright the cheeks and warm the heart.

Mind the Three-fold Laws you should three times bad and three times good.
When misfortune is enow wear the star upon your brow.

Be true in love this you must do unless your love is false to you.

These Eight words the Rede fulfill:

"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

The Witches' Creed

By Doreen Valiente

The Witches Creed
Hear now the word of the Witches,
the secrets we hid in the night,
When dark was our destinys pathway,
That now we bring forth in the light.
Mysterious Water and Fire,
The Earth and the wide-ranging Air,
By hidden Quintessence we know Them,
and we will keep silent and dare.
The birth and rebirth of all Nature,
the passing of Winter and Spring,
We share with the life Universal,
rejoice in the Magical Ring
Four times in the year the Great Sabbat,
returns, and the Witches are seen,
At Lammas and Candelas dancing,
on May Eve and old Halloween
When daytime and nighttime are equal,
when sun is at greatest and least,
The four lesser Sabbats are summoned,
again Witches gather in feast.
Thirteen silver moons in a year are,
thirteen is the Covens array,
Thirteen times at Esbat make merry,
for each golden year and a day.
The power has passed down the ages,
each time between woman and man
Each century unto the other,
ere times and the ages began.
When drawn is the Magickal circle,
by sword or athame of power,
the compass between two worlds lies,
in the land of shades of that hour.
Our world has no right to know it,
and the world beyond will tell naught,
The oldest of Gods are invoked there,
the great work of Magic is wrought.
For two are the mystical pillars,
that stand at the gate of the shrine,
And two are the powers of Nature,
the forms and the forces divine.
And do what thou wilt be the challenge,
so be it in love that harms none,
For this is the only commandment,
By Magick of old be it done.
Eight words the Witches Rede fulfill:
If it Harms none, Do what Thou Will!

The Black Veil

DISCRETION

Respect yourself and present yourself so that others also respect you. Take care in revealing yourself. Explain what you are, not to shock, but to teach and to inform. Do not flaunt what you are, and know that whether you want them to or not, your actions will reflect upon the rest of the community.

Share your nature only with those with the wisdom to understand and accept it, and learn to recognize these people.

DIVERSITY

Among us, there are many different practices and many points of view. No single one of us has all the answers to who and what we are. Respect each person's individual choices and beliefs. Learn about them and share what you know. Our diversity is our strength, and we should not allow misunderstanding to weaken our community.

Find the path that is right for you and uphold this freedom for others.

CONTROL

Do not allow your darkness to consume you. You are more than just your hunger, and you can exercise conscious control. Do not be reckless. Always act with a mind toward safety. Never feed because you think this makes you powerful; feed because this is what you must do.

Be true to your nature, but never use it as an excuse to endanger those around you.

ELDERS

Give respect to those who have earned it. Anyone can claim a title, but a true leader will prove him or herself through dedication, hard work, and great deeds. Even so, leaders should be guides and not dictators. Look to them as examples, but always decide for yourself what you must do.

Respect the person, not the position, and understand that your choices are always your own.

BEHAVIOR

Know that there are repercussions to every action, and that you alone are responsible for your decisions. Educate yourself about risky behaviors, then always act with wisdom and common sense. Do not allow others to abuse you, but also, do not selfishly abuse.

Respect the rights of others and treat them as you would be treated.

DONORS

Feeding should occur between consenting adults. Allow donors to make an informed decision before they give of themselves to you. Do not take rapaciously from others, but seek to have an exchange that is pleasant and beneficial for all.

Respect the life that you feed upon and do not abuse those who provide for you.

COMMUNITY

Reach out to others in your community. Exchange ideas, information, and support. Be hospitable to others, and appreciate hospitality when it is extended to you. Do not engage in illegal activity, for this can endanger us all.

Seek to nurture our community and support all those who do the same.

I would have to disagree that the above is standard for a B.O.S. For instance, if I were to have one, I would not put the wiccan rede and the witch's creed in there, for I don't believe in them. It depends upon the person's belief.

a bos is a wiccan tool... if your not then its just a journal....

It's not just a Wiccan tool. It's for any Neopagan religion according to Wiki, which I don't trust very much...
PostPosted: Thu Jan 10, 2008 6:50 pm

journals are used everywhere but a bos is strictly wiccan but is still a journal. And Wicca is a technically a Neo-pagan religion.

I know its a neopagan religion. Notice how I said any neopagan religion. That includes astratu (sp?) Druid, and others. But I get your point.

Odd that you call it the Book of Shadows and ask all Pagans to post their things here, seeing as the Book of Shadows is more Wicca-oriented and a Pagan is any religious or spiritual faction that is not a part of the Roman Catholic church.

But you had your reasons I suppose.

During meditation, it is not uncommon for me to chant 'Om Mane Padme Hom;, the Buddhist mantra of compassion.

As for teas... well, I am fond of pine needle tea, which is insanely hard to make correctly.

I don't do 'spells' and such, honestly, I avoid them. Spells have been steered toward love and money, and that's not the true purpose of any magic, in my opinion.

If you have the recipe for the tea I would love to see it. and about the "spells".... in my opinion if someone uses them for love or money they are seriously misguided.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 13, 2008 12:59 pm

You take green pine needles and boil them in water for....is it five minutes? I don;t remember. It's a simple recipe. It's hard to make because you have to make sure it doesn't boil too long, or you'll get bitter tea.

Well, I take ganders at the local bookstores magic sections and its a mashpit of love spells and 'get-rich-quick' things. It makes me sick, really, mainly because I see people buy them. My god, how gullible can you get? Just another sign that nobody thinks anymore.

I can agree with that one

I think pagan more involves three things, ritual, honesty on who they are, and grimoires, i think grimoire is the right term, essentially a big book full of magical experiments some working better than others.

Actually it's a pagan tool in general, but it's more likely to be called a Grimoire not just a journal
