Radiant Garden/Hollow Bastion
Hollow Bastion is an original world created for the Kingdom Hearts series which serves as the home to many Final Fantasy characters in the series. It is featured in all three of the main Kingdom Hearts games, and served as the hub world of Kingdom Hearts II, similar to how Traverse Town did in the first. The gathering of the various Final Fantasy characters and the overall look of Hollow Bastion was changed for the third installment in order to help with the progression of the story.

Hollow Bastion is dominated by a castle which, now derelict, once was the world's seat of power. Underneath the castle entrance are the Waterways which provide plumbing throughout the castle. A library is here, containing knowledge collected by its former scientists. Aside from the castle itself, there is a town at its foot which is the base of operations for the Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee in Kingdom Hearts II. A previously unknown entrance here leads to Ansem's Study and his computer room.

Hollow Bastion was once a peaceful kingdom called the Radiant Garden, ruled by Ansem the Wise. In his thirst for knowledge, he began studying the darkness in people's hearts, with six apprentices, including Xehanort. Ansem grew wary of the experiments and stopped them. Unknown to him, his apprentices continued his work, producing the Heartless from hearts that were overwhelmed by darkness. A chain of events led to Ansem the Wise being banished, Xehanort splitting into two beings, and the world overwhelmed by darkness. Empty, the castle was later adopted by Maleficent as a headquarters.

Among the many monuments and markers dotting the great canyon leading down to the Villainous Vale, one stands alone in the minds of the people of Radiant Garden. Five years ago, it simply appeared in the dead of night, unnoticed until dawn and made by no hand known among their number. It sits near the precipice of the Dark Depths, in a spot always in shadow even at full noon.

Carved in great detail from a block of solid obsidian, it depicts a man, a warrior of visible skill, sitting wearily and nursing his wounds. His face is lined beyond his age, with a small sarcastic grin frozen across it. He holds a flask in one hand, a roll of bandages in the other, half-wound around his calf. Streaks in the stone seem to mimic the scars and wounds dotting the nameless man's body, and two crimson flecks make his eyes seem ever more piercing.

The square pedestal of white marble upon which the statue rests bears an inscription on each side, carved deeply by a skilled, elegant hand.

To his left, where his wounds seem the most grievous:

"There is nothing the universe can throw at me that hurts enough to get my attention anymore, nor any pain that even surprises me. From my own memories alone, I have endured every torture, every suffering I can imagine and some that were new to me once upon a time. By all I have suffered, I am made stronger than steel, harder than stone, and tired as all hell. And you know what? It was all worth it."

To his right, the hand that holds the mysterious flask:

"I don't know if I'm even real anymore. I don't know if I ever was to begin with. But the consequences of my actions are quite real, as are the goals for which I continue to fight. Even a dream can win a very real battle, if it hopes strongly enough. It doesn't matter if I cease to exist when my task is complete, because the outcome will be very, very real, even if I'm not."

At his back, facing toward the ancient castle of Ansem the Wise:

"That I have chosen to fight alone is no mistake, no matter what anyone may say of my plight. The things I have done, and must yet do, I would not wish on any living soul, not even my worst enemy. But these things must be done, no matter what it may cost me, for an end more noble than my fate shall ever be. I regret nothing, apologize never, and in the end I shall accept with joy my well-deserved doom."

At his feet, where his eyes burn down upon the reader:

"If I must be remembered at all- and by my broken heart, I should hope never to be- let it be only that I did what I knew I had to do, that I gave all I possibly could, and that I would do it all again just as gladly, for I did it for the sake of the one most precious to me above all others. I pray, to whatever gods may listen, that she never learns the full truth of what I did for her..."

The Dark Depths hold a particular terror by night for those who draw near this statue. Many nights, those who watch may see strange lights within the castle of Ansem the Wise far below, and hear the haunting melody of a distant, ghostly flute. By the light of a full moon, the statue's smile seems to fade, the eyes to narrow in pain, as if the soul of the nameless warrior were in grieving. But on dark, moonless nights, the eyes of the statue seem to burn with hate, the smile contorting into a demonic snarl, and whispers can be heard throughout the canyon that drive even the most cynical or courageous investigator back to the safety of the city above.

Cid found her at the statue. He didn't even have to look for her, he knew she'd be there.

"You sure about this, kid? You said it yourself, she's nothing like the one-man jobs you flew before."

She didn't look up- she never did. Going to that accursed statue was as close as she came to praying, and today she'd need all the help she could pray for.

"I know, Uncle Cid. I'm not worried about that anymore."

"The little ones?"

"Staying with Merlin, of course. You didn't think I'd drag them along, did you?"

Cid gave a shrug that could have meant anything, but didn't- a habit he'd picked up from her. "More like you couldn't get them off you with a wrecking ball."

"They're stronger than they look. Connor's already a fair match for Yuffie in a straight bout, and Abigail's picked up more magic than she knows what to do with. They'll manage without their nanny for a while."

Cid put his hand on her shoulder, just as she started to stand up. "You're more than that to them anymore, you're all they've got left. And if you think we'll be mad if you don't make it back, imagine how THEY'LL feel."

She turned and there was that look- tired, sore, determined. "I'll come back. And, winds willing, I'll bring him back to meet them."

She wasn't one for hugs, but she let him put his arm around her for just a moment, for his own sake. "Okay, c'mon, quit smushing me, Uncle Cid." She batted him away like a kitten, and he found himself once again amazed at how young she could seem despite being aged well beyond her years inside.

"You could wait a little longer, see if anyone comes here first."

She shook her head quickly, her long indigo ponytail whipping around her shoulders. "I've already waited twelve years, I CAN'T wait any longer. Not while the skies are open again. I owe him this, and you owe me this. Is she ready to go?"

"Whenever you are, she's up in the bailey. Walk with an old man one more time?" Cid offered his arm like a gentleman, despite the generous grease stains that came with the arm, and she draped her arm around it with deceptive delicacy.

A few minutes later, a blue streak took off from the Radiant Garden and vanished into the horizon, carrying with it one tiny, desperate wish...

A figure crouches, perched atop a pointed roof near the Residential area of Radiant Garden, his red coat flowing in the wind, a smile hidden under his high collar as he jumps down and kicks off the building, soaring down towards the ground before causing a gust of wind to slow him down, before crashing down through an open skylight in his Garage, landing with a loud crash and smoke rising from the aforementioned skylight "gotta work on that landing" he says, rubbing the back of his head and checking his tall head of blond hair "good, it wasn't damaged in the crash" he says, chuckling as he unstraps his two katana from his back and sets them gently on a desk before sitting down and scribbling something on a piece of paper "jeez, it's been five years.........wonder what everyone's up to." he says, turning around and looking at his Gummi Ship shining in the large light that hangs over it "I know you want to fly again, but we can't, not yet, not until I find out if it's true" he says, hearing a shout come from outside and across the street from him

"Oy, you still alive, Kisurgi? that was one heck of a crash landing!" says his neighbor across the street

"yeah, I'm still alive" Vice says, after standing and opening the nearby door , still looking back at the gummi ship in his garage "that had to be the worst landing I've ever had" he says, smiling

"good, wouldn't want our protector laid up in bed, now would we?" the man says, chuckling and heading back inside his house

"man, life sure is dull around here" he says, going back inside the garage and laying on his ship "don't worry, baby, we'll fly soon, I know it"

A ripple in space opened above the castle as a small tiny bird flew through. It circled around the castle twice before heading towards a garage. The bird saw two people enter into it.The bird flew faster as it reached the door it dropped a letter in front it and flew away through another ripple that opened up.The letter read "To Vice Kisurgi,From your Friend in the Shadows Ryosuke R. Rusogo"

Vice gets up and yawns, stretching his arms and walking over to his desk, picking up both his blades and placing them on his back in a cross fashion, before opening the door and walking out, noticing the letter on the ground "what's this?" he says, picking it up and looking at the writing on the letter "Ryosuke......." he says, walking back inside and placing the letter on his desk before he sits down and thinks "come to think of it, I haven't seen him since the final battle........." he thinks, his arms crossed as he opens the letter and reads it with a smile on his face "glad he found a way of reaching me, I was afraid he had been cut off permanently"

Along with the letter a blue crystal fell from it.It was shining brightly from the looks of it.The letter read:

"Dear Vice,

Been awhile hasn't.Four years since my supposed death.Course I doubt that the townsfolk believe that lie considering the incidents two years ago.My name used in the name of terror, never thought that would happen. If the news hadn't reach there that would be even better. Now,I'm guessing you're thinking I'm goin' a bit crazy,if you don't know what I'm talking about. There's another piece of paper with this letter, once you see it you'll understand.

You're also wondering what that crystal is too,I'm guessing.I found it during my research.Apparently you can put your energy into. The glow of crystal depends on the life of the person who put their energy into it.If the glow begins to fade it means the life of that person's life is also fading away. That crystal has my energy in it.So,now you know how I'm doing. There's also a chance you might also find my location with it too.Who knows?

There's one more thing Vice. For awhile I've had this feeling.Something big is going to happen, soon.I don't know what it is,but I have a feeling it's something bad.

P.S. Can you buy some flowers for me.Place them at my parent's graves for me will ya.Thanks.

Sincerely,
Ryosuke R. Rusogo"

Besides the letter it contained another paper. On the paper it had the words Wanted in big letters, followed by a picture of a man in a hooded cloak with what appeared to be Ryo's face.Next to the man was a Samurai Heartless.Below,it read "Dead or Alive, for the attacks on towns in the Land of Dragons"Of course the Wanted ad came from the Land of Dragons. There were several other wanted papers similar to that one,but for different worlds.

"well, well, looks like Ryo is still alive, even after that fiasco" vice says, holding the crystal in his hand, then setting it on the desk "so.......he's been jumping from planet to planet, very nice" he says, examining the crystal carefully before pocketing it and sliding the wanted poster from Land of Dragons into his other coat pocket "wonder where he is now? ah, forget it, we have work to do, Archangel" he says, setting the letter down and walking over to his ship "but........should I really stop guarding this town and go explore the universe? or stay here and protect my homeworld?" he says, thinking long and hard "forget it, space if too big to search alone" he says, then opens the cockpit and sits down in the seat of his ship, nodding off to sleep

"wait.........I think I might have a clue!" Vice thinks, hopping out of his ship and gathering some things before tossing them into his ship and opening the large garage door "We're leaving, Archangel, and we're going to a place with lots of information" he says, pulling the ship out of the garage and snapping his fingers, then running across the street to his neighbors house "Greg, could you watch the garage for me? I'm going on a journey for a while"

"Okay, Vice, I'll take care of the garage, have fun" the neighbor says through the door

"thanks, I"ll be going then" vice says before hopping into his ship and starting it up "now, let's see if you still have some spunk left in you, girl" he says, taking off from the planet at high speed towards Traverse Town "there's so many people there, I'm sure to find some kind of information about Ryo if I look hard enough"

((Haha! Finally, I'll start my new journey out right))

As Sabishii continued to pack up her shop after a long day of fortune telling, enchanting, cursing, and potion-brewing she couldn't help but notice the relief of pressure the heart of the world she was currently on was feeling. As if...a glass bubble was shattered, allowing it freedom.

Over the past years Sabishii had learned how to contact, not only the power, but the feeling of a world's heart. She did have practice however, after reading so many other people's hearts, a world's heart had become child's play. The knowledge of what her true abilities were from her Grandmother's journal were astoundingly helpful.

She was packing all of her shop/home into her rucksack now, a little trick she had picked up from a certain Wizard. This boring place was somewhere she, most definetly, was not going to miss-she had a feeling it wouldn't miss her either. She would admit, she would miss the world itself, but not its inhabitants, they all seemed so used to being here. She wanted to be free, not having to stay in one place for so long ever again.

Picking up her old, large hat from the hook, and dashing out the door she looked up towards the sky. She hadn't even bothered to lock the door in her hurry...not like there was anything to steal in there anymore anyway.

'I'll find those pages, for sure!' she though to herself, as she headed towards the Gummi-ship hanger. She still had her Grandmother's
Gummi-ship, and now she was finally going see it's true worth.

"Maybe I can finally actually be able to visit my old home, as well..." She whispered this mantra to herself, as she prepared the old ship for take off she wouldn't soon forget.

All that could be seen now was Sabishii's Grandmother's slightly bulky, old Gummi-ship making a blue streack behind it as it headed towards wherever Sabishii's heart led her.

June came strolling down the street, keeping her gunblade hidden from the public's eye. 'No sense in them worrying' she thought to herself, as everyone waved at her...and smiled slightly. June would wave back and grin alittle seeing how it felt better....alittle. "I wonder what the gang's up too" she said to herself running over to Merlin's house. "Hey Merlin are you in?" she asked knocking on the door.

A teen looked out a window. He saw people pass by. He wondered whether some of them were normal citizens or members of the Chasers. He had been looking out the window all day. He looked at his dresser where he kept his daggers. He walked to the dresser and got them. He looked at them. He hadn't practiced using them for a while. He put them in the pouch and went downstairs.

Vincent walked out into the small yard the house had. It had no grass, the ground was the same as the street in front of the house. His parents were inside like they usually were. Sometimes they watched him. He took out his daggers. He threw them into the air where they preformed many loops and switched direction many times. He caught them when they came down. He made his decision. He wanted to leave this world and visit the others he heard of. He looked at the sky. He knew he would need a Gummi-Ship. He sighed and sat on a chair.
