THIS IS AN URGENT ACTION ALERT:

S 1959 "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007" must be stopped at all costs.

Pick up your phone today and contact your US Senator's office to instruct them to vote "NO" on S.1959.

If this bill is passed, and becomes law, your words and actions could be considered terrorism. S 1959 EVISCERATES FREE SPEECH, and empowers the govt. to declare ANYTHING they deem an "extremist belief system", instantly make you a terrorist, resulting in stripping of US citizenship, torture, and/or execution, with no habeas corpus rights, no ability to challenge even in the US Supreme Court.

Contact your Senator and let them know they will be looking for another job if they vote yes on this bill, which is now introduced into the Senate as S.1959 THIS BILL **MUST NOT** BECOME LAW, PERIOD.

If this becomes law, your words could be considered "promoting an extremist belief system", and all they have to say is that you are using PLANNED OR THREATENED *FORCE* (DOES NOT HAVE TO BE VIOLENCE) --FORCE by exposing CORRUPTION, CRIMINALITY against "THE CIVILIAN POPULATION OF THE UNITED STATES, *****OR ANY SEGMENT THEREOF" READ THE BILL MANY TIMES AND VERY CAREFULLY--YOU ARE THE TERRORIST (WHICH MEANS THEY CAN STRIP YOUR CITIZENSHIP, AND HAVE YOU TORTURED AND EXECUTED).

Senate is back in session today, do not hesitate, call, fax, email your Senator ASAP.

I got this article from Ron Paul Forums. Interestingly, I'd already heard of the Act from my mother, who knew a someone who was pointing out on his website that allowing the govenment to define what constitutes an "extremist belief system" is extremely dangerous to our liberty.

Additionally, this man had found a little gem on (I think) Alabama's state government website, where one of the definitions of a homegrown terrorist was something along the lines of someone who disagrees with the government, or believes that it is doing the wrong thing, or thinks that he has been harmed by it. He pointed out that if the central government chose to include this definition of homegrown terrorism in their list, then technically anyone who disagreed with the government would be a terrorist.

Yep, read about it a few months ago. It needs to be stopped. I don't like it, I don't like it at all. I've even been called a domestic terrorist a few times, indirectly. rolleyes

Yay government trying to limit our free speech! Yea I've emailed my congressman about it, but never got a reply. :/

EDIT: Also I heard from somebody that this bill has already made it through the house of representatives, and will most likely make it through the senate b/c most of them don't ever show up anyway. :/

Emailing a representative or senator is worthless: use a traditional letter, typed and hand signed.

I'm going to read the text of this bill before I leap to any conclusions. I'll let you all know what I think.

Unless I'm missing something this bill establishes an exploratory commission. They simply investigate and recieve evidence. This in and of itself is fairly harmless, as they do not act on this evidence.

However, if any of the people who are appointed to this commission are dismissive of the Constitution, this report could include a lot of harmful details that could be later used to the detriment of legitimate, non-criminal, non-terrorist groups and individuals.

I have no problem with writing a letter to both Senators of Texas and requesting that they vote against this. I'll see if I can't get my friends to do the same. Of course this will have to wait for me to get back to Texas.

As far as I can make out, this bill would be harmful because it would allow them to define what is or is not "violent radicalization". As a state government has already stated that people who mistrust or dislike the government are violent radicals, this could effectively label any dissidence as terrorism.

I need to find the article that I read about this again, though. I'll look it up tomorrow when I'm on.
