Ok so I get migraines from time to time when I throw my eating schedule all out a whack. But, I've learned to identify the feeling before I get the migraine so I can prevent them. But not anything will do. I have to choose what I eat to prevent it wisely. I don't know how to explain it but I have to feel out what kind of food my body needs at the time to keep me from suffering.

Anyway this got me to thinking of the different energies put off by different food. Thought it might be a good discussion.

What can you tell about a food just buy feeling it out? What is this food intuition? Am I just crazy? These are the questions that must be answered. xd

But yeah discuss.

This is actually sort of a big part of Ayurveda, a kind of Indian medicine.

According to the practice, what you eat should depend on what doshas (properties) are dormant in your body.

Someone I know has a body type that is called Pitta. In essence, his body's energy is firey. So he tends to gravitate towards cooler foods.

And with me, cold foods aggravate my body, no matter what season it is, so I tend to stick to warmer foods.

Those are just a few examples, it's not just a hot/cold thing.

There's no doubt that food revitalizes our body, and varieties of foods do so in different ways.

The most recent incident regarding food and energy I've had is last week, when I was hungry before boxing class and had some Orange Chicken and Rice. It was too close to the class and the whole time I had cramps from eating and exercising so close together. But what was obviously a tough class, I did with relative ease and boosted performance.

I'll have to look into that Indian medicene.

My friend won't let me eat tacos unless I dance before each bite. ;_;

@Ninjaslayer:
You're body is odd I must say. I've never heard of a body getting pain if it doesn't get the food it wants. I say it's very picky.

I usually eat what I feel like tasting. I'll taste something in my mouth before eating and it usually tells me what I should eat right then, well maybe it could be like your body, next time I'll ignore what it wants and see if I get pain.

But Sugary stuff is how I live. I love sweet things the most. Especially cakes and stuff like that. :3
But then garlic comes in second with salt, especially on some sort of meat.

I can empathize with this, although I don't tend to think of it in a spiritual capacity. I'm hypoglycemic, so I have to eat every three hours. Whatever I ingest has to have the right combination of protein and (certain kinds of) carbohydrates, or I'll wind up having a miserable day. I've developed a bit of an intuition about what foods I need based on how I feel. First thing in the morning, I usually use fruit sugar in some form to get me going followed by protein to keep me stable. It's a bit of a balancing act that centers around keeping my blood sugar in a workable range throughout the day. This may be something like what you're experiencing, or you may have some other need your body is trying to fulfill.

your body will tell you what you need.

WitchyBoy
your body will tell you what you need.
I've always believed this very deeply. Whenever I get cravings, I believe it is because my body is lacking something that is in the food I'm craving. I eat pretty healthy and so the cravings I get are not just sugar or salt but things I truely believe that I need at that moment.
