Hey, I am currently without a religion. I am actually thinking about converting to Wiccan. My Boyfreind is Wiccan. Um, Well anyways, I study many religions, such as paganish, druidism, Wiccan, Vampirism and more. I have books on them and such.
Since all you guys I am assuming are Wiccan/Pagan, or know a lot about it, can you tell me some things about it, and its advantages? I would really appreciate that.
Thank You Very Much!

Laws You may know the Wiccan Rede - 'An if it harm none, so mote it be.' All Wiccans must follow this law.
Sects There are many different sects of Wicca. This means that Wiccans are open minded to new ideas and beliefs.
Nature Wiccans love nature and animals. We do not harm anyone or thing.
Disadvantage I think the only disadvantage is that there is a lot of bad press about Wicca and WitchCraft. Some people who do not understand the religion make fun of its followers. I've lost count of the number of times I have said "No, We do NOT believe in Satan..."

Yeah, Im not Wiccan and I argue to people about Wiccans supposedly Satan worshipers, which is funny because they don't believe in satan period.
Question... I Have read and been told this, so forgive me if I am wrong. But I have been told that there is no such thing as black or white Magik. Which makes sense if their laws saw spells cannot be made if they harm or make someone go against their will type thing. But I have had people who have been wiccan for years argue with me that it is real. That black and white magick does indeed exist. Can you help me with this then?

There is, in a sense, black and white magic. Black hurts, white helps. Then there's grey areas. I don't think you can really smack a "black/white" label on every spell, so, it doesn't exist like you'd see on Charmed (*gag*)... anyway... A witch can practice black, white, or somewhere in between, but it'd be very distasteful for a Wiccan witch to practice black magic because of the three-fold law. sweatdrop

You can't smack a label on many things. But I also disagree in some ways. I think energy is energy. It's all the same, and not black or white- UNTIL you put a force behind it. It's only energy until you direct it to a specific thing or purpose, then it become positive or negative.

However, even that is relative, so.... If you want to put it into black/white terms, then yeah.

I'm not even going to pretend like I know what I'm talking about, but let me just throw my two cents in.
I think magick can be like anything else, good or bad. Something that would usually be considered good if done for the wrong reasons can be bad, and something that is usually considered bad if done for the right reasons can be considered good.
I think it has a lot to do with the intentions of the person, and you cant really classify anything until you know the intent.
But like I said, I really don't have a clue.

After all, describing black as bad and white as good isn't quite right. Black is sometimes seen as a protective color (hence "book of shadows"). 3nodding But people who don't know much about Wicca seem to understand black/white better sometimes...

Really again I agree Energy is Energy its neutral, you cannot label it however you can label the witch. I mean, a spell is directing enery to a certain thing to get a result like a chemical equation Energy -> Spell -> Result. You can't say a spell is black magick because you wrote it to be, it is you who his putting negative energy into the equation so its not the spell who is negative it is you.

That's why I chose this path, it's free minded and open instead of restrictions imposed in print by penalty of your immortal soul. The thing is, you can be a Pagan and not a Wiccan. You can be a witch and not a Wiccan. There's threads about that, I'd suggest, Ina, that you look over every sticky thread and many of the discussion threads. That's the best education you can get on the matter. If you're talked into joining a religion, it's not your religion. 3nodding
