Why does people only know the anime on TV? That really bugs me! Like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, etc. I hate when people say they "LOVE" anime....

Nah. And I am not sure why they say they "love them". I like watching Trigun but I won't cosplay as Vash or Wolfwood. It might be cause they are little kids( the reason why they love the anime). But that is this guys opinion

Honestly, that's how I first got into it. I'd watch whatever was on Midnight Run or Adult Swim. Then I found a store near me that used to rent anime, so I've seen quite a few fantastic series that have never made it to TV. Now Netflix supports my habit 4laugh

youtube let me watch Trigun. Louie the Rune Soilder was alright. But I still don't see how someone could love a cartoon like that.

I don't love anime, but I love animation. For the past three years of my diploma, I was taught the fundamentals of a script, of a character, and of how to mold and animate that character in your story.

Ever since, I can't look at an anime or an animation without noting all those little details and having feelings about it. This being said, I'm the kind that will be pointedly upset over badly done animation, or insanely happy/obssessed in the sight of animation I believe fit for a king.

But I'll say this, though...if an anime takes too long to finish, there's a higher chance of it selling out.

I agree on that.

most anime series are from manga... and i don't think those people read them.
so they don't really "love" anime i don't think.

I think anime is japanese not chinese.

and the japanese cartoon style is a lot different from american style cartoon.

haha... and i don't think american has really big disproportionate eyes on their faces like the ones in anime. =P

Well, many don't have the ability to get anime that doesn't show on television. I know a lot of parents won't buy their kids dvd sets that cost $79.99 for a season when normal tv series cost $39.99 (or something like that.)

I don't see anything wrong with them saying that they "love" anime even if their spectrum is a narrow as a spagetti noodle. However, it has the possiblity of gettting them into more anime later when they can afford it or actually think to look it up. I was "obsessed" with Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, and such and only watched the anime on tv. Until I started high school and earning money was I able to branch out and discover the whole wide world of anime.

On the other hand, a lot of American animated series I've seen emphasize on the whole face instead of just the eye expression...and there's more lip-syncing. XD

After seeing Osamu Tezuka's comics...I've seen Caucasians who look almost exactly like their Japanese neighbors. No argument there.

But just as anime's main characters don't really look all that different despite ethnic differences...the American stuff has a similar problem.

Me: *watching my first episode of X-Men The Animated Series at 10 years old* "...isn't the girl with the raincoat ( Jubilee ) Chinese?"

My brother: *watching it with me at 14* "Says so in the comics."

Me: "And that one...you said he's French, right?"

My brother: *a Gambit fan* "Of course he is!"

Me: *looks from Jubilee to Gambit* "...they...look the same to me."
