Electric Field

The field is completely flat; no bumps or hills can be located. Standing at the four corners and at the exact center of the field on each side are six electrical towers that stand at six feet in height. These create a static discharge across the field and in the air itself for one reason: a metal piping that outlines the edges of the field floats several feet above the towers themselves, held up by the discharge. During the battle, the piping can release lightning at random points on the field due to the amount of buildup them possess. This ensures that your pokemon stay moving during throughout the entire battle.

North fingered Adrenaline's pokeball in her pocket. This was her first battle, and she was excited - but unfortunately, excitement didn't make you not nervous. And North was very nervous.

Her father and her had taken a short trip to Katarina today, and while they were there he had decided to register her, so that she could fight in a stadium. At the time North had thought it unlikely that she would ever fight in a stadium, but they'd managed to find another trainer who was interested in a battle, so... here she was. She didn't know much about the trainer, only that they too were going to send out a Mareep. Which was good; Adrenaline's first "official" fight would be against his own kind. North didn't doubt that he'd fought at least a few Mareeps while wild.

She swallowed as the stadium that the two Mareeps were to be battling on appeared: the Electric Field. She didn't know much about the different Fields - she'd only skimmed through the pamphlet describing each of them - but it didn't look friendly. And the lack of physical obstacles on the field hinted that there might be a few nasty surprises coming midway through the battle.

"Okay- um-" she muttered, unsure how to do this and even more nervous than she had been before. North tossed the pokeball out onto the staduim, lamely calling out, "Adrenaline!" as she did so, not sure what else to say.

Adrenaline had been enjoying the rest time in his pokeball when he felt himself being called out. He looked around: first glancing over everything with his red-orange eye, then with his green one. The setting was... strangely formal, human-type formal. He wondered why North was making him come out into this strange place. She'd better have a good reason.

Once more the trainer stepped onto the assigned spot on the field. Kailana wasn't too familiar with the electric field but she didn't doubt her ability to conform to this strange stage. She began removing the majority of her armor, all except her gauntlet, in case a stray lightning bolt wandered outside of the battle field.

"I hope you're ready to lose," she called out to her newest opponent, looking at her with her single red eye, "We won't go easy on you just 'cause you're a newbie." She couldn't really remember why she had accepted this trainer's challenge, most likely because she wanted to try out Abyss's fighting skills and what better to try out on a fellow mareep. She reached for the pokéball on her belt, hurling it through the opening in the field, "Let's go Abyss!"

The mareep was tossed out from the ball, appearing on the flat surface of the field, twitching anxiously. She made eye contact with the male mareep, keeping her red eyes focused on him as she spoke, "I'll prove my royalty through battling you, you beastly creature!"

"Oh, and by the way, welcome to Katarina."

North's mouth twisted anxiously as she heard her opponent's hope. She was a newbie... and she'd never battled before, and certainly not with Adrenaline. The closest she'd got was watching her father train his Pokemon; usually against each other. Still... Adrenaline (from what she'd seem of him so far) did seem like the sort to work up a fierce temper, which could either help or hinder depending.

Adrenaline surveyed the Mareep before him before meeting her gaze. She certainly was a strangely coloured ewe, nothing like the Mareeps he'd met before he'd found North. At her words, his reddish eye twitched angrily, and he let out a bleat. No matter how much royalty she was, nothing would stop him from battling with all he had (if a battle this was to be) - especially not after such an insult!

Seeing Adrenaline's enthusiasm (well, that was what it had seemed like), his trainer relaxed slightly. She looked up at the other trainer. "Thanks." A smile flickered on, and off again, her face as she regained some spark. It was comforting when your opponent saw you as a person, and not just a thing to beat.

North turned her attention back to the field before her. Her mind quickly jumped to the list of attacks Mareeps knew. A basic attack would be best, she decided, to start off. "Adrenaline - Thundershock!"

So it was a battle, then. Well, fair enough - his wool had been fluffing up the last few weeks, building up electricity and not being able to use it for anything. Sparks of electricity cracked along him as he built up a charge. Finally he let the charge go: a thunderbolt flew across the battlefield, aiming at his opponent.

The thank you accompanied by the smile was not received, Kailana’s disposition remaining focused on only the battle at hand; she wasn’t interested at all in the trainer but more rather in beating her. She didn’t react to quickly when her opponent called her attack, speaking dismally towards Abyss, “Stay perfectly still Abyss.”

The female mareep did nothing in attempts to dodge the oncoming attack, absorbing most of the shock back into her own fur as it crackled and hissed back in retaliation. "Hmph! Is that all you’ve got?" she tossed her head in a cocky manner.

The older trainer snickered, seeing Abyss without a scratch. She wanted to teach this newbie a lesson, and what better to do with a fierce start, “Let’s get this battle really heated up, let’s go all out with a thunder wave!”

Abyss ran towards one of the electric pillars and rubber her fluff against the electrified column, creating a heightened charge around her body before she released a few strong waves of paralyzing static towards the enemy mareep.

[ Ah shoot, I'm really sorry about not replying for ages. D8 ]

Adrenaline tossed his head as well and pawed the ground, anxious for a command from his trainer. And if she didn't give one, well then, he'd just have to do something on his own. He had no problem thinking of how he'd attack if North weren't around to tell him what to do...

North's fists clenched, some of her earlier nervousness returning. Her opponent was clearly not another newbie trainer. She opened her mouth to give Adrenaline a command (A simple Tackle had been her choice, something more physical), but before she could do so, the other Mareep was rubbing up against one of the pillars. This confused North, and she hesitated.

Adrenaline barely had time to begin forming a charge before he was hit by static electricity, sent by the opponent. He didn't feel damaged at all, so the attack must not have been very good. What an easy opponent! The Mareep tried to toss his head again, but found that he couldn't: when he tried to move, he felt a tingling sensation going through him. His muscles refused to work. He grit his teeth, glaring at his enemy.

The girl bit her lip, not realizing what was happening until she remembered her opponent's instruction: Thunder Wave, so Adrenaline was paralyzed. Not good, this was not good. She'd have to wait it out until the paralyzing static wore off, and who knew how long that could take?

Kai smirked as soon as she saw Adrenaline standing perfectly still like a statue. "What's the matter, can't you move?" she mocked. The more experienced train hoped that this would be a good sign for the battle between mareeps.

"(Yeah, can't you move?)" Abyss mimiced her trainer, trotting around the frozen male. Her mouth curled to a grin as she took in her small victory, her fur sizzling with excitement as well as some left over electricity she held onto from her previous encounter with the electric tower.

She chuckled as she watched her pokémon happily prance around, it had been a while since she had seen her even remotely happy. However, the fun had to be put on hold, "Alright Abyss, that's enough poking fun, save your energy. This time we'll try a simple tackle attack; hit him with all you've got!"

Abyss quickly stopped her bouncing and settled down, her body slightly atwitter with excitement. "(Oh, I'm going to enjoy this...GET READY!)" she warned her opponent before she charged straight for him.
