Hey folks,

I thought it might be nice to compile a list of restaurants around. I know we're from all over the world, but it might be nice to know the veg-friendly eateries when traveling to unfamiliar places.

Here's my list for Austin, TX - one of the most veg-friendly places there is.

Veggie Heaven
all vegetarian - mostly vegan
all-natural chinese cuisine
recommended dish: Protein 2000

Mother's Cafe
all vegetarian - plenty of vegan
One of Austin's oldest veg restaurants. Pasta, enchiladas, sandwiches, etc.
recommended dish: Pancakes for brunch on Sat/Sun

Tom's Tabooley
mostly vegetarian/vegan
greek wraps - fantastic falafel
recommended dish: Any falafel wrap

Mr. Natural
all vegan
backery and texmex restaurant
recommended dish: tamales

Triumph Cafe
vegetarian/vegan friendly
coffee shop and Vietnamese cafe
recommended dish: Curry Tofu Vermicelli

Kerbey Lane
vegetarian/vegan friendly
all natural home cooking
recommended dish: mocha tofu cheesecake

Madras Pavilion
all vegetarian - vegan friendly
the best Indian food you'll ever eat
recommended dish: lunch buffet

Casa de Luz
all vegan
local macrobiotic restaurant
recommended dish: whatever they give you (you don't get to pick)

Dog Almighty
vegetarian/vegan friendly
hot dog joint
recommended dish: vegan chili dog

There are more, but those are my favorites.

Noodles & Company is currently my favorite place.
It's a chain restaraunt, but the food is really good. You start off with ordering the noodle dishes, most of which are vegetarian/vegan. From there, you can add cheeses, meats, and/or tofu to whatever you order! All the food is made fresh when you order it, and is absolutely delicious.
They also have good soups and salads, too.

I'm having a complete love affair with their Japanese Pan Noodles. Wish they weren't so expensive!

For all of the iPhone/ iPod Touch users out there, I found this great app on iTunes called VeganXpress. It lists all of the vegan menu options for most chain restaurants, and it really comes in handy when you're hanging out with meat-eaters. There is also an app made by PETA called BNB, which lists companies that do or don't test on animals.
