This board is to talk about the book New Moon. Please, feel free to discuss favorite scenes or to ask others about a particular section you don't understand, etc. DO NOT SPOIL FUTURE BOOKS!!! You may, however, talk about Twilight here if it pertains to New Moon.

I suppose I'll start out by saying I really enjoyed the first and last chapters of New Moon (I suppose you all know what happens in these chapters). My favorite scene was probably the climax scene, where Bella saves Edward in Italy and what happens after.

I think Stephenie does an amazing job of describing a breakup...it's so vividly accurate, well to my predictions...

but Jacob is amazing and Bella is so indifferent to him.

First post! Hooray!

I'm an Edward fan myself. :3
I love her description of a breakup. Most books skip stuff like that. They're all "happily ever after" books. To find a breakup - a meaningful, powerful breakup - is rare in literature. I had kinda started to wonder if I was the only one that felt that way.

I realized I didn't mention this before. The Italy scene is my favorite scene probably through all her series. That would probably make it my favorite scene ever. So yeah. Anyone want to talk about the Italy scene with me? Or you can always disagree, so long as you're nice (and you don't give away Eclipse or anything).

hmmm...I disliked that part in some ways. It seemed weird.

So how did the vulturi know he was going to do that? how did they have such "impeccable" timing as bella did?

I think mostly because Aro read Edwards thoughts the day before and knew he was planning on trying something at noon in the square. And of course, they have so many vampires, they could get people to follow him around at all times.

yeah, but she doesn't really tell us, we assume it. Can Aro really see everything Edward will ever think too?

No, just everything he's thought about up to that moment.

Which makes me wonder, what exactly do you think Marcus' ability is like? All the books say is he "sees relationships". Do you think he sees a kind of bond around two people? Would he see one-sided relationships (aka crushes) too? I'm curious. I think he sees a sort of bond or aura or something, and that had better apply to one-sided relationships, too. What do you think?

Oooh! Thought provoking!

I would think he would see crushes, as a "half relationship", you know?
I bet he sees a bond, but bonds are emotional, and through your head? so does it work on bella?

Ooo...that's a good question. But I suppose love is also physical (both physical and psychological), so he can see her relationship, too. That leads to the question, does he see the Bella/Jacob relationship? Alice can't see werewolves, but can he? Maybe he wouldn't have said their relationship was that strong if he could have seen Bella and Jake? Hmm...I think there needs to be a book about Marcus' ability.

no kidding! she could write books about tons of details in her twilight series. However, I think she leaves it up to the readers to interpret.

Yeah love is psychological, and physical depending on how er intimate people are. Though most relationships are psychological at this point. So it's hard to say. I guess we'll have to wait and see what he does.
