Here is where we teach and introduce new people to the SRW saga. Also, you can ask any question which we will probably solve as fast as possible.

Starting the 90's Bandai, thru their subsidiary Banpresto, launched the game Super Robot Wars in the Game Boy. The game was really simple: You had a team made od robots of different icons of the mecha anime like Gundam, Mazinger Z and Getter robo, battling against the forces of the Zeon army, Dr. Hell's monsters and the Dinosaur Empire. The game was a strategic Turn-based RPG, you moved your units on a grid and then the enemy did the same. Simple. No stories, just fights. But the game was a huge success and the fans claimed for more. Since then, ther isn't a year without a new SRW game. It has passed thu NES, SNES, GB Color, PSX, Dreamcast, N64, Gamecube, Wonderswan, GBA, PS2, Nintendo DS and PSP, and every game has a more entangling story than the last one. Besides, there has been all kinds of mechas, like old classics from the 70's (Reideen, Daitarn 3 and Voltes V) and 80's (Like Macross, Dunbine and Dancougar) or new series (Like Nadesico, Evangelion and GaoGaiGar) AND remakes of the original series made by Banpresto themselves (Like Shin Getter Robo and Mazinkaiser). Hope that explans it well.

-ll- A e r i s -ll- i am actually a big fan but i dont know much about SRW early days, so i think this is very educational smile but i was always wondering why Tetsujin the father of all robots isnt in any of SRW games Tetsujin was controlled outside of a cockpit is probably why. You don't really pilot it. If memory serves me correctly, Mazinger-Z was the first to actually have a cockpit, and a very awesome way of entering I might add.

However, Giant Robo, Gigantor's spiritual successor, has been included in SRW rosters before, which compensates quite nicely.

I doubt it. Even if they couldn't obtain the rights to the original, they still had the recent remake they could have tagged a license to.
Honestly, I just think it was due to Giant Robo having all the positive attributes of his predecessor, plus the harder edge to blend into a SRW cocktail without the more goofy bits* showing.
