This is kind of embarassing to talk about, but I'm 16 and having issues with acne. It's not really bad and I know it's natural, but I'd like to go to school without hiding my face behind my hair, or go to the swimming pool without leaving my shirt on (back acne). I'm just wondering if there's any natural and cheap way to do this. All these medicines give people cancer and liver diseases. Also, I can't talk to a doctor cuz my little bro is there, so it's sort of embarassing, not that this isn't, but everyone here is countries away. Anyways, I'm just a curious youngster and I'm not as stupid and stuck up as the others, so I won't just throw ideas back in your face. Thanks for reading this.

This isn't exactly a "natural" remedy, but it's the only thing I know about acne...
My brother-in-law had terrible problems with acne, including back acne. His doctor suggested to him that he go "tanning." It cleared up his skin in a few sessions. I know that tanning booths are really bad for you, but if the acne is that bad, it might be worth a try....
Good luck!!

UV radiation DOES help. I'm 22 and STILL have bad acne, so don't feel bad.
Going the natural route, aloe gel works well, especially straight off the plant. It takes a few days to show anything, and you may want to have seval plants, so that clipings don't cause too much damage to one.
Egg whites are suposed to help, but I haven't tried that myself.
www.nosweatsoap.com sells lye soap (she's the lady from whom I learned the recipe I posted) for $3/bar, and they last a long time, and help out TREMENDOUSLY with acne, excema, psorisis, bug bites, posion ivy, and many other conditions.
If you're at your wits' end, and willing to try a modern medicine, acutane is ABSOLUTLY WONDERFUL! It has amazing results, though it's a bit of a biatch when you're on it. It dries out your skin a lot while you're taking it. What it actually does is shrink the oil glands in your skin. Less oil production helps keep your face and body cleaner.
Also, hiding your hair behind your face may be part of the cause. The oils in your hair (or on your hands, if you rest your head on your hands a lot) build up on your face, and causes problems.
Also, washing your face twice a day with ANY natural soap *NOT PETROLIUM BASED* will help to clear it up.
I hope some of this helps!

Wow, that's actually pretty helpful. I never heard of that egg white thing. Are you supposed to eat them or put them on the acne? I know it sounds stupid and slightly disgusting, but you never know. I can't do tanning because my skin just boils in the sun. The hair thing really caught my interest though. It should've been obvious, but I never realized that those oils could be doing it. I'll have to get a haircut soon (My bangs go past my neck). Thanks for the help.

Don't cut your hair! *LOVES long hair* Just wear it back.
The egg whites are suposed to go on your face. I never actually did it, becasue that was just too icky for me. I think they dry your skin a bit as they dry out.
The one that worked best for me *besides accutane* was either the aloe or the lye soap. They did all kinds of things with me. I was on perminant antibiotics for about two years. (NOT healthy at ALL.) I had a collection of cremes and goops that was disturbing.

Not necessarily. Depends on HOW you wear it back. I've seen males with hair half pulled back (just the stuff around the face, like girls sometimes wear) with it braided, and the back left free. Sounds girly, but it looks all ren-fair-ish to me, and is HAWT! And just pulled back at a low ponytail at the base of your neck is one of the least girly ways ANY hair can be worn. smexy guys with hair pulled back

Sunlight is wonderful for acne- and if you burn (I do, I''m irish. I have "fork in a toaster" syndrome- lots of sparks and smoke when I get in the sun. XD) Put on sunscreen and wear no shirt when you mow the lawn, play in the pool more, just let the sun touch your skin. Stay out for short times at first and gradually go longer if you can. As for your hair? Easy. Pull it back at the nape of your neck, braid it, and then tie it off on the end. Jeri''s husband wears his that way and it''s SEXEH beyond reason! heart (No offense, Jeri!)

Have you tried watching your diet? I used to have a terrible acne problem, and nothing seemed to help. After awhile, I started to watch what I ate. I cut back on chocolate, sweets, and caffine. It wasn't too long before I began to notice a difference. Now, I don't have any more out breaks. I only get the occasional, small pimple - but that's it. I find though, that whenever I do suddenly eat a lot of chocolate or drink a lot of dark pop (or soda, whatever you prefer), I usually have a small outbreak within the next day or two. Out of everything I ate, I found dark chocolate and dark pops - such as coca cola or pepsi - to be the worse.
Also, you may want to wash any acne prone areas often. Though not natural, there are plenty of cleansers that can be beneficial - just make sure you do not use them too much because it can dry your skin. If you find your skin does begin to dry, try moisturizers. There are many natural ways to moisturize your skin, but you have to be careful because they may also block pores. You can buy moisturizors though that contain natural ingredients, which do not clog pores. (Sorry, but I can't remember the 'scientific' name for it right now. >.<)

Aloe is very good to help heal the skin. Clean your face well before allpying it, twice per day clean your face with a natural glycerine based "soap" (don't use real soap as it can make acne worse) and use a toner (sorry but for really bad acne isoprople alcohol is helpful also know as rubbing alcohol) one with camphore in it is good. then apply aloe gell and leave it alone. You may find that the break out worsens for about a week (as the cleanseing brings all the stuff beneith the skin to the surface) but after that you should see an improvement.
Getting your hair off your face helps too, and I do like the low pony tail for men as well.
The egg whites used like a mask, you beat them, then apply to the face let dry and then wash off. Once per week a honey almond or oatmeal scrub is good too.
For your back or body try a weekly salt scrub.

Krystlanna Clean your face well before allpying it, twice per day clean your face with a natural glycerine based "soap" (don't use real soap as it can make acne worse) Most modern soap is actually not real soap, but instead is made from petrolium products. It dries out your skin, and then you put on lotion (also made with petrolium byproducts) which will eventualy dry you out more. Nasty cycle. Real soap, by industry definition, HAS to be made with lye. Usually it's composed of lye and some form of fat, which together produce glycerine through chemical reaction. "French Milled" soap is basically the soap reheated and remolded...the reheating causes more glycerine to be produced. ANY soap you have at home can be remelted with heat and allowed to harden again, and will have a higher glycerine content, and therefor be better for you. If you can get pure glycerine soap (often sold in craft stores, actually), that's one of the best things.

I used to have really bad acne and I still get it sometimes even though I'm 24. I usually get it if I touch/rub my face or my back. (Seriously, if you have bad acne don't touch your face except to wash it, or your back.) I also get problems if I eat too much caffeine or fatty food too. And I know when I was younger people always told me that I had acne because my skin was too oily but I think that's a common misconception. Sure some people do have oily skin, but some people (like me) get acne when their skin is too dry. So all that stuff I used when I was younger that dried my skin made it worse. Now I use either a natural skin healing compound I got from this herbal place or I use my absolute favorite kind of lotion which is from neutrogina. It's for sensitive skin and it's oil free, alcohol free, fragrance free and hypoallergenic. I usually use their face wash for sensitive skin in the shower and then put the lotion on my face after I get out or whenever my skin feels really dry, and I put an aloe lotion on the rest of my skin when it's dry. Pay attention to how dry your skin is. I've heard that when your skin is dry sometimes your body tries to like... moisten it I guess, by producing more oil, which actually would make you have more breakouts. If using products that dry out your skin doesn't help then I'd say you have the same problem I had.

Just a washrag and water. Your rag will clean the dead cells off your skin and the water takes some but not all of the oil away. (If you wear makeup, it won't work, but just for normal un-makeupy skin it's great). Then you can put a dot of tea tree oil onto each blemish at night, and wash it off in the morning.

Yeah, make-up does tend to mess things up a bit. I've had ten times better looking skin since I stopped using foundation or powder. It's really not worth trying to cover things up when it just makes it so bad that no amount of covering up can hide it. I know that for people with skin problems, just covering it up is a really attractive solution but it only makes it worse.

Hi, I know a teenager who used to get really bad acne. Sometimes acne isn't caused from oil or hormones but from reactions to food intolerances or even microscopic bacteria. scubbing can irritate the sensitive tissue and make the acne worse, as will harsh soaps. I recommend you get to a naturopath or health food store and buy yourself a bottle of colloidial silver. It's all natural ( silver suspended in distilled water.) the silver acts as an antibiotic. you spray the stuff on your acne several times a day ( painless) and it will go away in a few weeks. At least it worked for my friend. in Canada it's about $15 for a bottle, and one bottle is probably all you will need. Heal acne scars with pure food grade aloe vera gel ( not from a drug store- from a health food store or from a plant. - you want the real stuff, not one of those cheap drug store copy cats with the green color in them ). spread the pure aloe gel on acne scars & areas you want to heal, 2x a day. Hope this helps.
