Okay, so today at band camp I got the most gorgeous sabre injury.
I was trying to toss a blade triple (we got new, shiny, $200 sabres... they're a heaven send, I swear) but I overestimated the flick I needed 'cause the old ones took lots of muscle. Anyway, I ended up having the blade come across my thumbnail and I have a hot diagonal bruise thing under my somewhat-broken thumbnail.

So, what kind of injuries have you recieved?

Our intrustor is a tough one. If anyone drops a rifle we have to run one lap for them (luckily we don't have like 20 people on the guard.) Well we running outside instead on inside and I didn't mind looking at where I was running to and it had just rained. I ended up falling in a pothole (spell check, please!) and not being able to do guard for about 6 weeks. That was my first year, so everyone made fun of me, Lol blaugh .

LoFaerie I ended up falling in a pothole (spell check, please!) and not being able to do guard for about 6 weeks. That was my first year, so everyone made fun of me, Lol blaugh . That sounds like it sucked. What season was that in? The grass where we do our floor runs is treacherous (Geez, I spelled that wrong... stare ). There are long, random ditches and holes in the entire lawn taht we practice and I manage to find them whenever we're doing a floor run that includes leaving the ground. And then Ron (an instructor) makes fun of me. xd

Haha ooh thats gotta hurt! Hey, I was wondering... Does anyone have pre band camp? At our school we have one week before band camp thats half the time of band camp... Just wondering, cause it was really funny, we all get drill sheets (that are pretty thick) to show where our marks are in different sets. Sometimes we drop them in the spots we're supposed to land, and me and this other girl watched one of the saxes (we were working with the whole band obvisously) trip over every single sheet that was behind him (they were doing back shifts) and then crash into two people. Haha it was wiked funny (you might have had to be there, blaugh ) Anyway, pre-band camp anyone??

I haven't gotten any serious injuries as of yet.. But I have gotten a funny one.. So, it's band camp my freshman year.. We're having sectionals under a tree.. (Guard.. under a tree.. We've got flags.. What is the instuctor thinking??) We're practicing parallels... (Helicoptor tosses.. Heck of a lot of fun..) I toss the flag up into the air.. And it hits a tree branch.. So of course, the flag falls back to the ground.. But of course, I'm in the way of it's path.. Flag hits me right on the crown of my head and causes me to collapse to the ground.. Didn't hurt too bad.. Everyone was laughing at me the rest of band camp, though..

My injury happened luckily during band camp, so I did not miss any football games or tournaments. (Thank you!!!)

Someone on our guard broke their toe and pinky when she tossed her rifle.. Couldn't twirl for a few weeks.. Kinda sucked, because we had a competition during that time.

Kate, one of the people from last winter, named her rifle "Injury" ... for obvious reasons, lol. She's broken her hand, multiple fingers, toes, ankle, foot, wrist, arm, and bruised and pulled a whole lot of things. Just on that rifle. Good name, lol.
Anyway. I currently have a black eye from a pole toss. Who gives themselves a black eye with a FLAG? Would have been a better story if it were from a rifle or a sabre, but NO. Had to be the pole toss we do in our SHOW. >-<0 Ron (instructor) told me I needed to wear a football helmet on Monday. O-o Hey, but the colors match Squawk's thumb! LOL (Yes ... we have compared the color ... O-o)
PS. @Squawk, yesterday, Max (Zooteens TL, you know) asked me what I did to my face and I used your story about the ninjas.
Me: I was fighting Ninjas in New York City.
Max: No you weren't. The ninjas are in Chicago, not New York.
It was so great.

Alright, I've read some band camp stories. Anyone ever had to finish a show injured?
Last season during our first actual competition, we had a really violent equipment change because we hadn't had ample time to work out a good way to do it. Well, I ended up handing everyones flags out because I was the closest to the pile and some nitwit (I'm not gonna use any harsher words than that stare ) literally CHUCKED her old flag at me. After it hit me in the temple, it fell down and smashed my bad wrist. I've broken my left wrist twice so it gets busted up REALLY easily. So, since that was only halfway through the first song, I had to finish the show with a throbing head and a busted wrist. How fun was that eh? I did manage to finish the show and march off though...
Anyone else have the same problem?

Not as bad, but Dan (only guy on our guard) racked my boob and it hurt the entire winter show. xd

my captain has 3 bruises in a row on her shin.....i really havent been injured yet this season......maybe a few fingers bent back, but nothing too bad.....
im pretty good at parallel tosses which is like mucho weirdo. last summer i attempted one and hit my left eye. didnt try again til last week and i got it the first time i retried it o_O
