What is it about Elves that we love? Is it Snap, Crackle and Pop from the Rice Krispies commercials? Or what about the Keebler Elves from the cookie ads?

For me, it's not the commercial elves, like Santa's helpers and stuff, but the mysterious elves of Lord of the Rings and Eragon. People love the unpredictablility and magic of an alternative to the human race.
