How was band camp?
Long? Hard? Tiring? Awesome?
Let's hear about it!
Personally, mine's halfway over and I am loving it so far.
Except river laps... >.<

FlagTosser Hey - has anyone every heard of pre-band camp? Personally, no. I always though band camp was, like, pre-practice. So wouldn't that make pre-band camp a pre-pre-practice? xp

So wouldn't that make pre-band camp a pre-pre-practice? xp Haha I guess... I dunno. We have pre-band camp for one week (just finished), every day for at least four hours, then we have another week of band camp (starting monday) every day for eight hours (at most) and we practice tenique in both. Well this year we've already started sets, but that is really rare, the band director we have now has never started set in pre or even band camp before.

Yeah, we have a pre-band camp week. We march for 3 hours a day, Monday thru Friday.. Then we have band camp! Do you guys go away for band camp, or just stick at the school? We go away.. March for a good 8 hours a day.. There're also 2 hour sectionals.. Oh, it's a lot of fun. We start setting the field show the 2nd day of band camp, usually..

We just have band camp at good 'ol school.
My wrists are going to die this year, between flag, rifle and sabre. They don't work well in the evenings. xp

Band camp = hell for me. Six hours of marching with 60-ish pounds hanging off my shoulders in 90 degree weather and trying to teach freshmen what the hell is going on.

Yea, we have pre-band camp too. But we have it only for 2 days.
This years band camp has been brutal. We've already set most of our first two songs (we have three) and it's only been a week and a day. Not to mention our guard instructor is insisting that we all take up track this year. She says that since we've gotten slammed for indurance by our past judges, we need to kick it up a notch and get ourselves in shape. Now, I'm all for getting in shape, but does it have to be 90 degrees when we do it? lol
As for the rest of band camp, well, lets just say we have a very... interesting band? lol

homan. marching band is so much harder this year than it was last year. last week, because it was just guard, we got pretty flexible hours....but this week and next week are like torture.....8 hours a day.....marching is so very incredibly super tedious. and *points at sig* my band friends enjoy picking on me because im the youngest....there are FRESHMEN that are older than me (well then again, i was skipped ahead a grade....) the juniors and a few of my fellow soph guys....sometimes i wanna just kill them. there are 2 quads that are making me very paranoid......
but thats not like the begining of my problems.....i have to pass throuhg 2 trombones, dodge a whole line of trumpets, a line of piccolos, and then again through sousaphones. then guard is in the back with the drumline.
and thats only song #2.

I hafta pass through trombones at a 2 step interval while they're playing... I always get hit in the head. And our first set is a pass through with the drumline... I have to dodge the biggest base drum (god help me I probably spelled that wrong xd ) in a backwards march. Note: He can't see me either cause his drum is gi-normus!
