Okay, my dad's deploying soon and I've been really sad. but I've also been you know, a butt head as my mom puts it 'cause I don't want to tell anyone what's wrong, so I keep everything inside. I was wondering if someone could help me like tell me how to get through it. I mean, I've been trying, I've been writing poems, songs, stuff like that to help. But it really hasn't. If anyone can help I'd be so grateful.
I'm going to put one of my poems up here... I'd also like help from someone to tell me if it would be good to slip into my dad's bags. To like tell him or show him I love him. Sorry. I know I ask for a lot of help
The year is gone, so quick it went,
Now you have to go, I really wish you didn't,
mommy's laughing, her tears fall slow,
Sister's crying, more then you know,
I'm here, you think I don't care,
But I do more then you know,
My emotionless state, is normal for me,
I hide my tears, my fears from you,
Your leaving now, I'm sorry to say,
I never told you, what I wanted to do,
But now I'm afraid, I will never see you,
I'm afraid you'll never know,
That I love you dear,
That I miss you so,
That I was kind of jealous,
Sister spent more time with you,
You never told me why,
Daddy, here we are, the planes lift off,
Now I see you leave,
The tears run down my face,
The smile now long gone,
I never got to tell you,
Your little girl grew up,
Your plane lifts higher and higher,
I no longer know,
how I'm supposed to show,
I'm still the same,
I guess I'll go back,
To that emotionless state.
Until you get back, I'll be hiding here,
Until you get back daddy,
I'll take care of them,
little sister, mommy dear,
I'll be here. I promise.

It really is best to talk about things, especially with those who understand. It never is easy having your loved one deployed.

It's a good poem and I don't see anything wrong with slipping him a poem in one way or another.

the best thing is what you are doing....get it out in any acceptable way possible. Keep busy with sports or lessons, help mom with the chores (she will have it harder than you, but can't show it 'cause she is the adult left to deal with everything!) Poems, letters are great, if they contain a lot of anger, you can even burn them after you write them (in a safe place, like a picnic fire pit!!).... thats kinda cathartic. And keep your chin up!! Its not easy, but you WILL get through it!! Good Luck!!
