Ok, in Brawl (since that seems to be the topic of the.... well month) I have to ask, are there any characters you just don't like already? Personally, I'm not loving Olimar... and as much as I hate to say it... Pokemon Trainer... I know, I know, I love pokemon, but the trainer just looks kinda weird... (not the character design, the fighting style)
Also, I don't see myself playing as sonic, but I have nothing against sonic, he's just not my style.

yeah I know what you mean about that becuse I have nothing against sonic but I might never play as him.

The Wii is the console of changes, so new players like Olimar and the Pokemon Trainer are welcome in fact. Plus, SOnic and Snake's presence reveal an open mind frm Nintendo. If you don't like chnage you can go and play PS3, you know? I'm not agressive, I'm just sayingthat playing the Wii also is adapting to ways of gaming, and above all, not criticizing beofre playing. I bet you Olimar will be uber powerful and open several new ways of fighting, and the STamina system the Pkmn Trainer has will make the fights more rythmed.

Yes, I don't like the pokemon trainer dude either. sweatdrop
Sonic might be ok though. I see him being kind of a jerky character.

No need to get defensive of the Wii man, I'm just commenting on my own style here, I know what I like, and Olimar just isn't it, I like medium speed (or high speed) characters with a longer reach, usually with a sword, thats just me.

How can you judge without playing? Olimar throws the Pikmins too, and he should have the same basic speed as Mario (that's just a guess but it seems realistic). So he can have a long reach, we don't know if he attacks by hitting poeple with Pikmins or not.

Excuse me if I seem agressive, it's just that I have some difficulties with poeple criticsizing new stuff without ever trying it. And it's not just about the Wii.

Well, I'm just going to speak for Don in that he just likes what he likes and if he see's something that he will probably like, then he'll use it. But everyone is entitled to their own style and likes and if he doesn't want to use them (even though neither of us even have a Wii, so there's really no point in this arguement in the first place) then he won't. That's the beauty of the Smash series, the different characters offer different styles for different players.

See, I like using different characters just for the sheer fun of it (probably similar to you), but there are also people like my brother who only uses characters he thinks are cool or he just likes to play as. And besides, opinions can change over both time and experience, so for now, lets just chill.

You're totally right, it just bugs me. See, I have a friend that only plays as ganondorf in mellee because he thinks he is the only cool character. I think that when you have the chance of having a casting like Brawl's or even mellee, you HAVE to try other charas, or else go and play Dead or Alive or tekken or other CLASSICAL fighting games (I do NOT critisize them, I just say they are classic).

By the way, Olimar's Final Smash is AWESOME!!!!!!!

Yes it is, and why would you play any other classic fighting game when there is Street Fighter? Seriously.

Well, a character such as Sora for instance would have been too much of a stretch as Hideo Kojima, the creater of Snake, has close ties to Nintendo and he had wanted Snake in Melee so it was easy for him to be in there. And with Sonic, well, everyone can tell that Sega and Nintendo have become much closer now so it was coming.

However, Sora is with Square Enix and though they get along with Nintendo, they aren't buddy-buddies. That, and Disney technically owns Kingdom Hearts so it's not Square Enix's decision anyway.
