I was thinking this when I was watching a video about World War II in Language Arts... (don't ask)
If you think about it, Adolf Hitler killed anyone who he judged to be a Jew, disabled, gay, whatever he discriminated against. He also carefully planned his moves so he could win. Eventually, Hitler committed suicide because things weren't going his way. He was about to lose.
Now, I don't know about you, but I think that sounds A LOT like Light Yagami.
Also, put it this way. The Japanese were actually involved in World War II, therefore, they could relate to Hitler, so there is a chance that they based Death Note off of Hitler. The "zaki" from "Ryuzaki" could be a reference to "Nazi" since both "Nazi" and "zaki" rhyme.
What are your opinions? Do you think Death Note is based off the Nazi?

OBJECTION!
your evidence is insufficient. you cant just assume there is a connection because two people discriminate against a group of people(especially since its not even the same group of people). there has been that kind of discrimination for thousands of years.
and since when have childish rhymes ever been an accurate source of information?
(wow, playing pheonix wright really does make you more lawyer-ish) surprised

(wow, playing pheonix wright really does make you more lawyer-ish) surprised I wasn't discriminating, and I never said the so called "childish rhymes" was evidence. I also never said that it was a true statement. I was asking for an opinion. What I was saying above is that Light and Adolf were alike in some ways, meaning, Death Note COULD be based off of the Nazis. Learn your facts before trying to prove me wrong, since I never even said it was true.

What I was saying above is that Light and Adolf were alike in some ways, meaning, Death Note COULD be based off of the Nazis. Learn your facts before trying to prove me wrong, since I never even said it was true. first off, i wasnt saying YOU were discriminating, i said the two people you were comparing did (kira and hitler)
secondly, you said that the rhyming could be a REFERENCE, and i asked if you thought rhymes were a significant source of INFORMATION, not that it was evidence. when i talked about evidence, i was talking about the fact that there needs to be more proof and that your theory didnt have enough facts to convince me.
and yes, i realize you were asking for an opinion, and i gave you mine, but i backed it up with why i think that way.
sorry if you thought i was insulting you or anything, but i didnt mean it that way

Ryuuzaki and Nazi don't rhyme. They just have the same last letter... Being Miles Edgeworth for a day is fun!

i agree with both sides i see how light can be considered another hitler. i actually see a lot of similarities though they're more of a broad comparison such as how each wanted a specific type of person to survive though they both had different types still it was the same, they both passed judgment on people they had no right to judge, they both used force to get what they want, and they both were intelligent people(though i think light is more intelligent!) and the origins of death note are actually from a chinese emperor who would keep a book similar to that of the egyptian book of dead. anyways the note book was passed down from leader to leader.

ChickenCeral I agree with you I too was watching that video in lang. arts (in Mrs.C class)
i think it is to in some ways related to Adolf Hitler....
But then again there are many leader that thought their way was the right way even many of today leader (people in power) think this way.
We still have alot of wrong doing in the world in this day of time and in our past and in our future.
It just shows that this world as always been that way and always will be that pasting judge on other they find diffent or who they think is Bad or evil.
So I guess am for both side of this disagrement ...

I do not think that Death Note is based on the Nazies and Adolf Hitler because the Japanese arent really involved in stuff like that. Plus why would the Japanese make a anime with death gods if it was based on the Nazies and Adolf Hitler? I dk
