Okay, I have a very weird question here. Well, actually, I guess it's a couple questions.
Every once in a while, i come across a very special story. It could be in a book, a movie, or even something like a song or a video game, but the thing that is always the same is that I can't forget it. It's almost like I've literally fallen in love with the story, and sometimes, even one of the characters, be it human or not. I know, it's weird, but there's just something about those stories. I even cry when it's over, just because it is over. Look, the point is, I need to know if this has happened to anyone else, or if I'm just rediculously weird. I would also like to know if you consider my... predicament a blessing, a curse, or just an odd ability like being ambidexterous or double-jointed. But mostly, I just HAVE to know if I'm the only one who's oddly connected to the imaginary world.

I think it's the most natural thing in the world! people write stories, songs, and characters to be lovable. They want you to connect with. It's what makes you so involved in a story. As far as I know, it's the ultimate goal of a writer. And your definitely not the first person to get obsessed with something. Don't worry, you're only as weird as the rest of us.

^^^Well put.
Anyway, yeah. I occaisonally fall so in love with a character or story line that I can't get rid of the thought of it, so i write an add-on story (fanfiction with MAJOR twists) or draw a picture of the character or story. It's actually fun. And, anyway, yeah, I think being so imaginative like that is a gift that all us writers have.

I live in the fantasies I read, and the ones I write... they inspire me. And I think we've all had the unusual experience of falling in love with a fictional charachter...

Thanks, everyone. I just had to know. I didn't think I was too weird, but it's just I guess I'm kind of used to dealing with people who would think I was a freak. Thank you for reassuring me! smile

lol. Thanks again. But all this has got me wondering now, what sorts of stories just really suck you in? Sweet romances that give you hope that love is real? HILARIOUS comedies that make you cry from laughing so hard? Bold tales of true heroism? What does everyone here truely appreciate? neutral

Well, I tend to read pre-teen to young adult fiction, but I'm picky about the books I try. If I'm not hooked with in the first few paragraphs I tend not to bother. I did adore the Harry Potter series, I must admit. I Don't really have a favorite author though, since I read books based on that book, usually not the author. I could give you a better list of the books I like later, if you want. I haven't been reading as much as I should sweatdrop To much Manga. xd

Oh, you don't have to do that. I don't want to bother you. I was just curious. I don't really read based on the author, either, unless I just really like their style and want to study it a bit more, or, slightly more often, they just write several books that were a smash hit with me, and I just look for more. Doesn't happen that often, though.

Okay, I am officially making this the unofficial "question of the week" thread! I figure, things like this can actually be great inspiration as well as just really funny (or thought-provoking, depending on the type of question).
This week's question: If your best friend betrayed you by revealing your deepest, darkest secret, how would you get revenge? twisted

Previous Q: I like love plots and normally adventure for some reason. though I enjoy WRITING a mix of those two and heroic stuff. I have a weird taste. But yeah, I choose a book by the book, not the author. Though, if I find one series good, I look for other stuff by that author just to see if its as good. Though it normally isn't lol.
Q of the week: Oh, it already happened to me. I really just kinda...umm, well, we arent friends anymore...she...ah...well, it depends on the point of view the story is told from, let's just say that. Nowadays, though, I would try to let it go, fail, and tell her secret to one of her guy friends...

Okay, I'm sorry I didn't put out a new question earlier. I was on an unexpected trip across the country. halogal Q of the week: Oh, it already happened to me. I really just kinda...umm, well, we arent friends anymore...she...ah...well, it depends on the point of view the story is told from, let's just say that. Nowadays, though, I would try to let it go, fail, and tell her secret to one of her guy friends... I like that, Halogal. I have a new question! You have been sentenced to an unspecified number of years in prison. What did you do? Armed robbery? Embezelment? MURDER? twisted

Oh, sorry.
I love traveling, and I hardly ever get to go anywhere, so it's fun. I live in the US and I will be going to Africa this or next Summer.
