I only just recently started watching this show. The first time I saw it I really enjoyed it, but, since USA isn't a regular channel for me, I only saw that one episode.

Recently, I was sick at home for a couple weeks and realized that there was a Psych marathon on. Thought I might as well watch it. Halfway through the second episode though, I realized that the show was set in Santa Barbara. What? But I live in Santa Barbara!

Well, officially I live in the little strip of no-mans-land between SB and Goleta, but according to the post office I do live in Santa Barbara.

It was a real shocker.

I got my parents to watch it with me, and although some parts of it were a little off, seeing the little shots of State Street and Stern's Wharf were really mind boggling.

I thought the only show we had was that crap little soap opera! It was even weirder though because me and my friend had just been talking about our town having little mentions in books, shows and movies, but very few actual appearances. I always seem to notice the little references, no matter how small and immaterial to the plot. I'm a bit weird like that.

So, I was wondering... are you really attuned to mentions of our own towns name, and do you look out for them? If so, have you seen any mentions?

Discuss.

I'm from the Netherlands, and I live in a teensy tiny little hole village.

Most of what I watch is in English.

So I think I'd be very surprised to see the name of my home-town come by. XD

I do generally notice when they've got government notices up and stuff and they're cutting off the traffic to my town again. But that's an immediate concern, so not sure if that counts, hehe.

Since I live in a hole too, I usually just keep my ears peeled for mentions of Arkansas. Just as rare as a mention of my hometown, really. >_>

The closest anything has ever been set to the town I live in was Point Pleasant, which (A) got cancelled and (B) the setting wasn't accurate. Then there was that James Patterson novel, Cat and Mouse, which incorporated a chase on Point Pleasant beach (or was it some other place? Crap, I haven't read it in awhile!).

Regardless, one of the top five safest towns in America isn't going to make for an intersting setting.
