WELCOME TO THE END.
The end of your search for a perfect roleplay.
The beginning of your descent into the most advanced of literacy.
But even when first gracing the threads of this roleplaying forum as a newly accepted member, one must
take into regard that some rules cannot be broken, such as the rules set up for the proper functioning of the overall
forum, the best experience for its members, and optimum efficiency, organization, and fun free of conflict.
Yes, rules in general suck. But these rules are required to help the forum thrive and function. Any breaking
of the following guidelines may result in banning (or several warnings before a banning), as they are that important:
o1. Follow the Gaia TOS.
This rule should be an obvious one; read through the actual Gaia TOS if you need elaboration on their rules.
o2. KEEP IT IN YOUR PANTS--...er...IN THE PMs
Exactly as the title implies; no sexual content between roleplayers over PG-13, keeping anything exceptionally lewd to the PMs. Graphic violence is okay in roleplays that insinuate graphic violence and character deaths (but when killing off another character in a roleplay, PLEASE discuss the matter with the other character before attempting.)
o3. BE LITERATE.
Another obvious one, yet one which must always be stressed and re-stressed; literacy is the ESSENCE of the forum, and if you weren't a literate roleplay, we would not have accepted you. So this is here just as a reminder: no use of asterisks (*), double colons, or any other sign to indicate action; action must be written out along with dialogue in a "story-like" fashion, as if you were writing a novel or other literary work of some sort. All actions should take place in 3rd person, past-tense, although there have been good roleplays successfully executed in 1st person; but 3rd person is predominant and ultimately PREFERRED.
Good grammar is great, but not stressed to the point of nitpickiness. You will not be stoned for writing "too" instead of "two"; just try your best and know that mistakes happen because this guild, as well as the world itself, is run by humans.
NOTE: I couldn't decide where to stick this so I might as well just put it here. You may use any type of font color you'd like in your posts, but please, use common sense when wanting to incorporate REALLY BRIGHT colors; they may hurt the eyes. It doesn't hurt to check with your fellow roleplayers if the color is obnoxious or exceptionally bright. And if you want to really suck up to me and get on my good side, I personally prefer size 9 font, but use whatever you'd like, as long as it isn't exceedingly large in size.
o4. NO fighting, arguing, irking one another in general, unless in character.
Keep fighting to the violence and conflicts of roleplays, rather than fighting with an actual Gaian/fellow roleplayer. This guild does not tolerate any acts of insulting, irritating, discriminating of ANY type, or general rudeness between two parties; any member causing trouble and annoying/hounding someone else should be reported immediately to one of the moderators, who must be given proof of the harmful act, and leave it in our hands to warn and/or ban the offending party.
o5. Tags indicating the status of the roleplay are also preferred to keep the roleplays more organized.
Here are a few:
[A]: Accepting character applications and profiles of those who wish to join the roleplay
[NA]: No longer accepting character applications; the roleplay is chock-full of its member limit
[X]: The main roleplay/thread creator is on a hiatus, vacation, etc., and the roleplay cannot be continued for the time
being
[UC]: Under Construction; when you are still fleshing out your roleplay and are not ready to open it to the public just yet.
o6. Always post frequently when joining a roleplay!
Joining a roleplay as a character means that you are asserting your responsibility in regards to posting as frequently as you can to
keep the roleplay running. Posting EVERY SINGLE DAY/hour/minute is not required, as we all have lives outside of Gaia, but please try to post as soon as you can when it is your turn to post in a thread to keep it from dying and wasting the roleplay creator's carefully thought-out ideas.
Posting too infrequently (not posting for at least 3 weeks without any warning that you are on vacation/incredibly busy) may result in banning.
o7. If on hiatus for any reason whatsoever, PLEASE LET THE ROLEPLAY YOU ARE A PART OF KNOW.
Post your reasons for temporarily leaving in the OOC thread of the roleplay, or, if the roleplay lacks an OOC thread, with the use of (()) within the thread itself to indicate OOC speaking. It is rude to just leave a roleplay without any warning, especially when with many others who are counting on your post, so make sure to indicate your reasons or you may get dropped from the roleplay (and as the last rule states, banned as well).
THANK YOU!
