finally saw charlie and the chocolate factory.. tim burton version then
i did not see te very end because the very last part jammed on the dvd....that was stupid but oh well it was a happilly ever after ending anyway

i liked the movie
especcially how depp was such a selfish uninterrested guy
and i liked the characters...even though that factory was going a bit too soft on them

i thought it was so funny with those kids
they already are so stereotype and then they just take it a step further

i also saw the old charlie version and i must say that the burton version is better on almost everything.
but it is a good movie for the time it was shot. i thought it was 1973 or something

I loved Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie. I heard that it followed the book much more than the 1970s version.

Maybe Willy was portrayed like that because he hadn't had contact with people for a long time. He just locked himself up in the factory with his Oompa Loompas.

that is indeed a good explanation....
and i dont know if it was the same in the book because i never really read that but i think it made the story more cool
and real...it made it interresting anyway....because now they still had to win his favor for winning that prize

the 70's willy isnt that sarcasmic. he is a true friendly guy.

@ blazefox: someone i know has read the books and also said that the tim burton version sticks better to the books. the old charlie hardly does

I loved this movie. And Johnny Depp was amazing as Willy Wonka. But he always is, in any role.

I haven't seen the older version, so I can't say anything about it.

I read the book a long time ago. When I was really young so I don't remember much but one thing that I do remember was that the 70's version of Charlie wasnt correct. The newer one I feel captures Charlie more because he is supposed to be a starving child.
