I recently started regularly smokking marijuana. I know alot of people don't like it and disagree with people using it. However it has helped my mental state and helped me become alot more calm and collected.
I don't understand why it isnt legal if not just as a medication. It could seriously help alot of people.
What do you think about marijuana? Ever had it? What were the affects on you? positive or negative?

I imagine for the same reasons that the prohibition of alcohol was never remotely successful. Indeed, you could say that alcohol is worse, but in either situation, if it's never legal, then there wouldn't be the same reaction to banning it.
A lot of the time, such substances are abused, so I think it's wise to regulate them, at least officially. More violence results from their being illegal, but no matter what, even if every current drug was legal, someone would find a way to profit off of another's misery.
I don't really have anything against it, except if the person is abusing it. In minute doses, it could be relaxing, calming, but if it's too frequent, it has the opposite effect, like so many things. There is the middle-ground, though.
I've never smoked it. I'm just not particularly interested. I have little against it, but I don't think it's for me.

It's only illegal because you can grow it yourself. Government can't tax what you grow for your own personal use, right? neutral

ObsidianHaloMark2 It's only illegal because you can grow it yourself. Government can't tax what you grow for your own personal use, right? neutral No, but if it were legal, it would become easier to grow it for yourself. There would be nothing illegal about growing it. You can grow your own tobacco, and there would be nothing wrong with that. I don't think legal plants that grow in a, "garden," would be much of an issue.

I say that the government should just legalize the stuff, but put about a 300% tax on it. It frees up the cops looking for people smoking the stuff, it frees up a few cells and lessens the load on the taxpayers, while at the same time, it would create an enormous influx of money for the government. Of course, it's probably not likely to happen for a while.

Complete bullshit that it's not legal. Also bullshit that it's rated as just as bad as Heroin. The s**t's never killed someone directly, has fewer negative effects than smoking (since most people couldn't go through packs upon packs of joints in a day even if they tried) and alters your mind less than a good dose of Tequila.
Chalk it up as 18+ or whatever, tax the sales a reasonable amount and make it into a controlled substance. Problem solved.
Or at LEAST put some money into developing the pill form of THC (the active drug) which has been created, but not marketed, for medicinal uses.

I, personaly, don't really belive weed is any worse than alcohol or cigarettes. They have bars and laws against driving while intoxicated, just have areas/bars to smoke it in like they do with alcohol. I would never smoke it, because it does effect the short term memory, but alcohol isn't exactly great for you eather.
My major argement with people who smoke weed is that it IS an illegel substance in the United States. Do I think it should be legel? Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that it ISN'T legel. So stop bitching when you get busted for carrying it.

I still don't see what all the fuss is. I started smoking over the Christmas break, and some of my friends found out and were completely against it, and then they go to a party and get drunk. If you aren't against drinking then you can't be against smoking weed, because weed is a lot better for you than alcohol. You can't O.D. on weed, and well there are a whole lot of reasons why I like pot better than drinks and chances are most people have heard them. So I'll just finish of by saying pot should be legal, and if you think drinking is ok then you shouldn't mind people blazing.

I personally don't have any grudges against weed. I've had friends that have used this substance and from my observation. The only side effects I see is hungry, happy, and sleepy. Lol, I'm no Doctor in anyway and don't know the ins and outs of how it effects certain parts of the body. But on a scale from 1 to 10 I would rate it a 4.
I've never used any kind of drug before, but I understand from what I've heard and seen what it does for some people. But with most things their is always a possibility for something negative. Depending on the person it could lead down the road to other actual harmful drugs.
So I don't know, smoke all you want I guess, Lol! When you see cigarettes causing cancer and irresponsible drinking causing car crashes. Weed doesn't look so bad in my book, but what is it like to be under the influence of this drug while, lets say, the workplace, driving, school, and etc...? How does it effect your daily task of the day?

I mean, as long as no one's completely and utterly abusing the s**t out of it, and stealing things to get it, I see not much of a problem. I find it a hell-of-a-lot better than a lot of other drugs because it's a natural substance. neutral

Jhuinya Melbourne /agree Huff i'd rather be around people smoking weed than cigarettes. cigarette smoke is just awful. I can't stand either. However, I recently found that I have a much more adverse reaction to weed than cigarettes. Cigarettes just make me cough while weed makes my eyes burn, nose drip, and violently cough at minute wisps. sad

I'm ok with it. I do smoke it when I can it's more of a social thing with me and my buds(pardon the pun). And it's a lot cheaper then ritolin(sp?). I'm a smoker, ciggs and weed, I don't pressure people to do it or anything cause I wasn't pressured to do it. I'm against my own personal drinking cause the majority of my family are practically alcoholics. Besides, I rather come down from a high then be puking in someone's front yard. I don't smoke around people who don't and got the self control to not bum anything off other people. My fam's more into hardcore s**t and I like to keep mine casually and more social. But that's just RV for you haha. rolleyes

You know what ? I personally do not care too much about if people choose to smoke marijuana, regularly or not. I truly think they should legalize it, so there will be so many troubles finally out of the way. ^_______^
