Well, here's the story. I originally saw the anime of Fullmetal Alchemist before I read the manga. Just recently, I decided to start reading it. I noticed a few things in it though that seemed wrong to me. confused
1)The State Alchemist pocket watch was referred to as GOLD and not SILVER like its supposed to be, which one is it?
and
2)The ISHBALANS were referred to as ISHVARLANS. Which is right?Thanks for all your help if you reply. PS: I've been reading the Viz media ones if that makes a difference. sweatdrop Edit: I've just read the Viz thread. Now I know why.

Keep in mind that the manga came first. The creators of the anime took the series in a completely different direction, partly because there was no ending yet, and partly because they could. Also, keep in mind that many things get changed in translation, particularly when it comes to "v" and "b", "l" and r", etc. Letters get switched in different translations. Also, one translator might decide to translate a word as "silver", while the official Viz translator might choose to change it to "gold". Or it may just be that Arakawa intended it to be gold in the first place, and the makers of the anime changed it. I can't tell you for sure, because I can't read Japanese.
So to sum up:
1) Most likely, the makers of the anime changed it to silver. It is also possible that it got changed in translation.
2) This is up to the translator. I believe Viz goes with Ishvarlans, but some *cough* scanlators *cough* use Ishbalans. It's just the way that Japanese works.
