It was daybreak, and the Elephant Graveyard was at its peak of glory. The firey morning sun cut through the unsettled dust like a razor creating streaks of light that brilliantly shone through. It was one of these streaks that, by chance, had shone its way into a small den of hyenas that awoke one of the pups. A small black lump of fur wiggled about as a beam of light rudely interrupted its slumber. With a grumble, this lump unfurled as it stood, emerging as a young female hyena. With a quiet yawn, the pup blinked harshly a few times, her eyes not used to the brightness.

Micah was one of the newer editions to grace the graveyard. Looking around slowly, she took in the sights of what she knew to be her family; mother and two brothers, all dead asleep. Her father, who knew where he was, but Micah had him fairly well fleshed out in her mind, based on what she heard her mother grumbling about. She didn't hate him for never being around, though she wished he would be more often.

However, it wasn't her father who's company she desired. With a quiet huff, the female nudged another black ball of fur, identical in almost every aspect to what she'd looked like moments ago in her slumber state. After sticking her nose rudely into her twin brother's ribcage, she frowned, hissing quietly into his ear,

"Baal... Baaaaaal, wake up!"
PostPosted: Mon Jan 14, 2008 9:51 pm

The rays of sunlight that began to filter through the fogs of the graveyard did nothing to hinder the ability of young pup. As it was, he was curled up away from the opening, face nestled as secure around his little paws as he could muster to block out much of anything; which in the long run didn't matter much anywho being as deep a sleeper he was. And earthquake or the apocolpyse could arise and Baal would still be snoozing away, waking up a few hours after with blurry eyes and wondering what had transpired.

His sister was a different matter though, still nothing to get the dark pup jumping from his sleep but the back of his mind usually clicked a little on when she was bounding and determined to rile him up. It just didn't always work though and still took some time. Baal curled up even more, his right paw covering his face even more as his hind legs curled more around his stomach, creating a defense from further nudges. His other paw rose and began swatting in her general direction, or at least was trying to. A soft murmur escaped from the safe-made defense and cocoon, one that could be translated perhaps in several ways: 'hhmp hmp hmmnph,' 'there're flies in it,' 'dun wanna strip' or .. the correct, 'five more minutes.'

The little female frowned, her young face contorting into a very unpleasant expression. It didn't take Micah any time at all to decipher what her brother had said. However, she wasn't about to let him doze on any longer. Their mother and other brother was asleep, this was a time where they could venture out on their own without being nagged on by the rest of the family. Micah was planning to treasure the moment.

"No, not five more, Baal. Zero more!"

She sounded like a snake as she hissed into her brother's ear as quietly as she could, while still sounding rather stern. Micah's ears flattened as Baal curled up tighter. With a light huff, she latched her sharp baby teeth onto his ear, tugging at it rather roughly. Hopefully, her wouldn't be apt to yelp out, but he wasn't that big of a wuss, maybe he'd keep his trap shut.

Aand thankfully to his sister's hopes, the only audible sound from Baal were a seeming mix of a growl and a whine, as well as his body rolling over from the momentum of the tugging. The tiny spark of processing brain knew well enough to not make a sound and wake his mother, but it was more of him still being mostly asleep that his tolerance to pain was fairly high - Micah could have whacked him with a large bone and he would probably still be asleep ... that or dead.

"'mup..." Blurry blinking blue eyes slowly opened, that little spark at least didn't want to endure more nagging. But that didn't mean he was going to get up, so he just stared at his sister as his gaze tried to adjust and the rest of his brain to wake up as well.

He suuuuuure was a chore, this brother of hers. Micah couldn't help but to roll her eyes at her twin. When it came to sleeping, the two were polar opposites. Micah would jolt up at any sound, light, tug, what have you; a very light sleeper, always keen on her surroundings. And Baal was just... Baal. Grumbling lightly to herself, Micah took advantage of Baal's new position. She pounced onto his exposed belly, leaning her front paws on him as she craned her neck over and into his face. Touching her nose with his, she huffed again,

"Bum, bum, bum an' a 'alf. Baal, honest ta god, if you don' get up..."

Micah's whisper grew even lower as she threatened him. Not that she actually meant it, she could never really hurt her twin. Play fighting and pestering him was one thing, but causing him actual harm would weigh heavy on her conscience. Raz on the other had, well, that wasn't as hard.

As Baal's eyes started to open up, Micah smirked, rather proud of herself. Pushing down on his belly a few times, she egged him on into getting up. Soooo close!

"Uph..." Baal winched from her tackling, offering no offensive maneuvers having been through this too often to know nothing violent would result from this; well usually really, and it was far too early in the day and they wouldn't really want to wake the rest of the family. That would lead to more trouble than it was worth, at least thats what Baal thought.

"Or what?" He matched her low tone with his own, seeing what she would really threaten to do in such close proximity to the enforcer. Wincing returning and a bit of twitching as she pushed on his stomach, the look he was now giving her a mix of 'why are you tormenting me so early?' and 'what could you possibly want at this hour?' and just an all around 'what do you want you evil vile creature?'

"... if you're no' careful.... Imma gonna hurl on you ~" The dark pup threatened himself. That might do it.

"Or... I'll tell the alpha dat you was freterizin' wiff the lions. She gon' get sooo mad!"

Micah smirked very knowingly, as she thought she knew exactly was she was talking about. Their mom had mentioned that fraternizing with the lions would get them in a world of troubles with the alpha. Though Micah hadn't met the alpha, she sure didn't sound pleasant. Pissing her off was not on Micah's to do list.

The young female quickly picked up on the look she was being giving, being quite in tune to her brother's mannerisms. She didn't appreciate him at all. He was lucky she was in a relatively good mood, or she would have taken offense to such a gesture.

"Guess'f I'm so evil, we can't be bro 'n sis no more, coz I'd corrup' you or summin'."

Micah turned her nose up haughtily and pushed herself away from Baal, acting very insulted, even though she wasn't. Saying not another word, she trotted, with her head held high, to the entrance of her den and sat down, very determined to give Baal the silent treatment.

With scrunched up nose and the continued evil glare of doom, Baal gave his sister a look of 'you wouldn't... dare' while obviously not realizing minor details that would be needed for this plan of hers to go through. For one, she would have to find the Alpha and seeing as how they didn't know what she looked like... that could be difficult. And two, if he were to get in trouble than she would most likely as well as they were always together.

Baal huffed at her remark after, twisting his small body to complete the rotation and shakily force himself up from his lazy position on the ground. He mimicked her snooty expression, with rigid back and trotted his way towards and a little past her and the entrance of their den.

"Tha's fine wi'h me ~" He began, a little louder now that he was outside, "I'll go fin' som'ing more in'erstin' ~ like some of the rocks ~"

As soon as Baal left the enclosed area of their den, Micah felt even prouder. There, she'd done it, coaxed him out. Just like she always did. The little female was as stubborn as a mule. Micah always got her way. Once he spoke, Micah pranced after him, shaking her head in mockery, her voice raising from a whisper,

"Oh yah Baal, them's rocks is soooo interestin'."

She wrinkled her nose as she trotted past him, out into the open of the graveyard. After hopping clumsily onto a long forgotten tusk, she paused, her dark blue eyes scanning the horizon. It felt so liberating to be out here without her mother's eyes boring into her. Closing her eyes for a moment, Micah breathed in deeply, the stale graveyard air enveloping her young senses. It was great. With a snap of her head, Micah smirked, turning to look down at her brother,

"Baal, ya'd be so lost wiffout me."

"Mmhm~" Baal nodded, not even taking a glance at his sister nor even opening his eyes for that matter to address her. He kept trotting his way down from their den, with his chin raised in his attempt to be the superior or the two. Sure, he was more of playing and trying to ruffle her feathers but it was getting to be really fun playing it up and seeming all serious about it.

His blue eyes finally opened when he felt her leave his side and heard her small paws make their attempt up the tusk that rested near their home. He stopped for a moment and smiled realizing she hadn't looked in his direction yet and was admiring the scenery of the new day. Smirking, he slowly and trekked off in the opposite direction as quietly he could, hiding behind some larger object when he was able.

This was going to be soooo good.

Perched atop the tusk, Micah too tilted her chin up, also attempting to seem to be the more important of them both. She scoffed lightly, not knowingly, very similarly echoing her grandmother's mannerisms. Shaking her head, she continued to look at the horizon,

"Ya know Baal, ya could take'a few poin'ers from me."

Micah smirked cleverly to herself, proud of herself for coming up with such clever come backs. She paused for a few moments, waiting for Baal to snap back at her with a comment of his own, as she always expected him to. However, his silence lasted longer than she expected. Frowning, the little female swiveled her body around, scanning the area for her twin. Alas, he was no where to be seen.

"...Baal?"

There was a faulter of panic in her young voice as her eyes frantically darted around the barren lands in search of her momentarily missing brother. Hopping down off of the skull, she sniffed around, not exactly knowing what she was doing. What if a lion had come up behind her and snatched him up for some breakfast?! Micah talked a lot of smack, but truth be told, she'd be lost without him. She dashed off in the direction she'd last seen him, stopping to look around. Whining softly to herself, Micah could only think of the worst. Her lower lip quivered as she thought of the last thing she'd said to him. Now, she would never be able to tell her brother she'd been joking! The pup sat down in defeat, head drooping low, voice barely audiable,

"I's sorry..."

The rocks and broken bones proved to be a pretty good hiding spot it seemed, the way they were arranged and the little overhang from one side made it pretty hard to see the dark pup, especially if he closed his blue eyes. Baal couldn't help but snicker, trying to keep it under his breath but not doing so great of a job, as his sister's helpless cries. This would so teacher her! She needed him just as much as he needed her, even if he would never admit to the later part.

Risking the location of his spot, he carefully pushed himself against the rocks as little bits of dust and bone began to fall on his dark coat. He peeked his head around one of the corners that allowed him to see more of the area to see his little head around, letting the prize of his distressed sister come into view.

Now, how long to play this up. Hm. Hm. Hm. "You suuuure?" Again, another risk of his location, but hopefully the echo and reverb would disguise his location.

Micah had sat there, moping and her spirit completely crush for a good few minutes. With her brother gone, she didn't have the heart to be her usual mischevious self. Her head perked up slowly, realizing that she would have to go and wake up their mother, inform her that her son had been carried away and eaten by a lion. Woe was to be her! The little hyena stood in defeat, turning around back in the direction of their den. However, just as she was about to wander back, a voice rang out. Not just any voice.
Baal's.
Micah paused midstep, whipping around with a fury. So he hadn't been dragged off after all! He was around here somewhere, hiding from her. The little b*****d! There she was, sitting around worried to death for him, and what was he doing? Playing a prank! A low growl rumbled in her throat, head sinking low in anger. She didn't have time to be relieved, she was pissed! How could he do that to her? That was the only thought running through Micah's head at the moment. Sticking her nose into the dust, she sniffed around, hoping to locate his scent trail. When she spoke, it was out of the corner of her mouth, her tone absolutely furious,

"Baal, when I fin' ya, I'mma tear ya a new one. YA 'EAR?!"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 22, 2008 1:11 pm

Baal tried so hard not to burst out laughing from her irate response, his cheeks puffed out and his eyes began to water as he held it all in. Oh, how his sides hurt too as he tried to calm himself down. The small hyena stretched himself out a little as he regained control of his reaction. His little head titled slightly around the edges of the boulder he was behind, trying to see if he was able to get a good vantage point from where he was of his twin. It wasn't the greatest of views but it worked out well enough, he discovered.

He opened his mouth, ready for his own reply but closed it. Ponder, he could take this one of two ways really but he had to make it real good and both would probably get her even more angrier than she already was. Decision made, he opened his mouth again and called out to her, letting the echo of the bones and surroundings continue to conceal his location. "How 'o you know is Baaaaal ~ He could have been taken ~"

A low, high-pitched growl echoed out onto the boneyard. Micah was getting rather pissed off. The young hyena's brow eas furrowed, and her posture low; body language only helping to portray what she was thinking. The female had a generally short temper, a little something she'd picked up on whilst being raised by all boys. Slowly, pacing around all the while, Micah tried to clear the fog of frustration from her head.

A voice rang out from within the bones. It bounced off of all the death before finally reaching Micah's ears. Initially, only her ears perked, but soon her whole head followed suit. Taken eh? Micah was worried for a spilt second, but after that, her demeanor hardened. Ok, fine! What could she do about it? Nothing! That's right, nothing. And she would do nothing. Micah voice rang out into the silence as an irritated bark,

"Oh 'ell, dat's fine! I guess Raz is gonna have ta be mah brother now!"

That's fine, absolutely fine. She could live without Baal. Or could she?
