Heh heh, ok! Ive had this argument a lot quite recently and i just thought id put it up here where people dont have such a one-sided opinion of things. I dont now who it keeps coming up but it does xd
Should footballers earn as much money as they currently do? And why?

Well... I suppose they sign random contracts which says they'll get paid with x amount of money each month... and I suppose they could always refuse and thereby push the price up a bit, depending on how famous and good they are 3nodding then since they're so sporty and healthy, they'll get lots of offers to sell themselves, make commercials for special trademarks etc. which earns them even more money. I suppose it just depends on how good you are.
I guess you can't really say that they should "earn" less, since playing football isn't a real "job" with normal wages, I'd say it's more like an auction and if they don't get paid enough they could refuse to sign a contract, if they're good enough to demand a higher bid that is.
So my personal opinion would be... you can't really argue about how much they get paid. Since the people who write the contracts agree to give them that much themselves.
Kinda like trying to offer £10 for a Picasso. To stay on the top they're expected to perform to a certain quality though, so they have to stay in shape, train and win otherwise the football player will probably not get as high bids on the next contract and people would just refuse to give a counter offer so he can't refuse too many bids and may earn less than he did on the last contract.

yeah, if we were going to debate the wages sports players make, we might as well debate movie stars and such as well. nothing we say is probably going to change how much they make (unless countries come up with specific guidelines on the subject). personally though, i don't believe they earn their money.

Ok then, ill use an example much like the one Mattea used in the other debate.
Why on earth should a footballer earn such a high amount of money for kicking a ball around compared to a doctor who saves people's lives?

Personally I just can't watch football, it's one of the few things I'd switch channels on the moment I see it.
Good point about earning more than doctors though, but doctors kinda have a set job, the hospitals are paid for by the government and the employees get paid based on their educations, I don't know much about where the footballers money come from.
But sure, I find it silly for someone to be willing to spend so much money on single football players when there are so many other things it could be spent on.

Sooooo.......
I suppose it's their own choice to pick what price they'd like to sell themselves for... and other people's choice to pay that much for them.
Like with art, you can put whatever price you want on a painting, but people don't have to buy it if they don't want to or agree with the price.

Haha, i guess so. But all footballers have a stupid amount of money sitting about in their shoes xd They all get a large amount of money, the big players most of all. My point was that its just an obscene amount of money.

Lol, they should get paid a wage, then get bounses for performance. (touchdown? Have a grand!)
The only reason they make so much is because they're all free agents, but it's a shame that they're so exploited for just wanting to choose. Also, the money distracts them from loving the game, and the games overall have less heart.
I feel the same for baseball players.

So.... who thinks rappers got too much money to spend on million dollar houses and bling bling? xd
If you're looking for money in this world, you must become either a rapper, football player or a hollywood actor/actress.
Edit: I'm the only one who licks the wallpapers here gonk

Hahaha! Dont be ashamed of that Mattea! xd
It depends how they score really. You could end up just stealing goals if you know what i mean. And make the game more selfish
And yeh, the most amout of money you get usually come from more glamorous but less important jobs. If you see where im coming from.
ps: I was talking about footballers as in "soccer" XD I dont really know how much 'american footballers' get in comparison.

Yes, I was referring to the kick ball around football aswell, think most people refer to that one when saying football except in America ofcourse. I think they should just rename American football to like... Run ball or something...
I don't like football much as I mentioned earlier... I think volleyball would be much more fun to play, you can't go all ego and play on your own in that, requires good teamwork. I'm not very sporty, but I wouldn't say no to entering a volleyball tournament if there was a team that needed me. Unlike football you're not just around to fill in the blank spaces to be qualified as a team.

Haha! Lies! Its the bikini girl volleyball your after xd wink
American football to me just looks like rugby, but stupid and a rubbish version for it. I like rugby myself, play it, its fun ^^ Requires A LOT of teamwork, otherwise you'll end up loosing and in pain.

Arrr, you got me xd and all the time I spent on that excuse! lol jk Actually my cousin plays american football, we're the same age, it's rather fun to think of him as an opposite of myself, really stereotype-ish. sweatdrop I like the rotating positions of volleyball though, just seems to be more fair to all of the players. Also don't need so many players for it. So I suppose I'd pick volleyball if I had to join into some random team sport... otherwise I'd probably go for some solo sport like... fencing or kendo or something.
