Lolita is a fashion that was originaly based off of the VIctorian/Rococo era.. We enjoy beautiful dresses and pretty shoes...so we are the supreme girliness...kinda...then we get into the sub forms of lolita.. we have Ero-Lolita which is a lolita in more reveiling/suductive clothing..no blouse under a sleeveless dress and the short petti under that short skirt.. Sweet lolita the technical first form of lolita which was created by a brand called Pink House in the ...80's..*this could be off please tell me if it is* Gothic Lolita is the darde side of lolita that goes with more of a dark look. This form of lolita was highly populized by the musician Mana sama (of the former Malice Mizer and now Moi Dix Mois) he has made many people know of lolita in general (he is how i came to know it). But not many know is that Mana sama did not create lolita but like i said earlier he did not he just made it more know. (please refer to the Lolita Idols forum for more info on Mana) Gothic lolita is one of the more popular versions of lolita along with Sweet. Punk Lolita is a run of gothic lolita with a more....punk touch..duh..Punk lolita is where a lolita can show just how wild you can be without going Gore. Gore Lolita is where a lolita can(or is willing to) put fake blood on a dress, put on some bandages, carry around maybe a knife of staff, and so on to make it what you want.... to be as gory and horrific..but yet as cute a possible. Wa-Lolita is the form of lolita that is based off of the Japanese Kimono..you keep the fluffy skirt of the lolita but the top is based off of the Kimono with the dropped sleeves and the obi. qilolita encorporates elements of traditional chinese style and victorian girls' clothing. it's not very common, but beautiful when done well. mandarin collers and brocade shoes compliment the style nicely. These are just some of the Lolita forms..if there is something you would like to add please let me know.

I think that you should add something about casual lolita, classical, country and kona/dandy (?).
then currently there are small off shoots of the style like qi-lolita, sailor lolita, and pirate lolita.

Elegant Gothic Lolita
Classical/Country/Sweet Lolita
Industrial Lolita
Elegant Gothic Aristocrat
++Here is the almighty list:
-Otarori (Otaku Lolitas. Black and white clothing. Influenced by Manga-Ka and Mr. Mana; they are not considered Lolita by the real Lolitas, because they have it pretty much all wrong.)
-Porunorori (Porn Lolitas, they are also not considered Lolita and other than the fashion part, they have nothing in common with real Lolitas. So naturally, we don't 'accept' them, either.)
-Erorori they show a lot of skin, which is an erotic type thing in Japan. The Japanese aren't fond of showing a lot of skin, hence the stockings (Though, since I haven't been raised in the Japanese culture, I like tank tops...) They wear a lot of red and black, and corsets, and are bondage-y.) Generally having skirts that are above the knee and no under shirt.
-Itarori (Annoying Lolita, painfully annoying, they are usually over 30, wear way too elaborate make-up, use super polite language, carry a doll everywhere they go, wear clothes that do not suit them, and are ultra-snobby.)
-Amaloli (Sweet lolitas, pink, baby blue, etc. The more 'colorful' type. Country Lolita fits under this sub-category (there is no real term for Country Lolita, they're merely the ones wearing more country-styled fabrics.)
-- Shirololi (White Lolitas, branching off from Amaloli, they wear all white.
-- Himeloli (Princess Lolitas (This would be more 'country lolita' They wear floral print dresses, and are very similar to what we'll throw in next. Their hairstyles are very elaborate and wear tiaras; they tend to pocess the "Hime Cut" Cheek length bangs on the side, shorter bangs in front, and long, straight hair)
-- Anchikuloli (Antique Lolitas, very similar to Himeloli, they resemble porcelain dolls of children from the Victorian Age.)
-Kurashiku (Curashikku, Kurashikku) (Classic Lolitas, they are very reserved and their fashion is very similar to Anchikuloli and Romantic Lolis)
-Romantic Lolita (Similar to Himeloli and Kurashiku loli, their style of dress is similar to a European Princess' style of dress, they are fond of bows and ribbons, but are absolutely not princess halloween costumes. )
-Kurorori (Black Lolitas, they're similar to Mana's EGL style. They're not into the idealogy of Lolita, they're mostly in it for fashion. They're cheerful people usually, and are only wanting to be a more gothic version of Amaloli, they go for more of the little girl feel of Amaloli)
-Gosuloli (Gothic Lolita, very similar to Kurorori, closest thing to Mana's EGL. They wear dark velvet clothing with dark make up, like black lipstick and such. Tafeta is also used to make their clothing. They're more mysterious than cute, and they give off the "don't touch" feeling. But unlike EGLs, they are not into the idealogy. They don't try to speak all fancy-like, they're like a dark version of Amaloli, with suffering and sadness. .-.)
-Saibaaloli (Cyber Lolita, think of the Cyber goth fashion done in lolita.)
-Pankurori (Punk Lolitas, think punk clothing (plaid and safety pins) made lolita, like shoelaces instead of ribbon, safety pins instead of bows, and plaid instead of solid fabrics)

Oh, you have ero lolita a bit off, that subfashion is meant to be sexy, but they still have some modesty. Like, their skirts can be a bit shorter, but only a bit, and their blouses a little low cut, but not really showing cleavage still. They mainly just use things like fishnet and garters to give it more of a sexy look.
And most elitists would say that it's kind of ita to wear black lipstick with any subfashion, including gothic, and I think that you can pull it off with Kuro lolita, but even then it's kind of hard to pull off.

Boystyle isn't really a lolita subfashion, it's a separate but closely related fashion.

JessieKateRose Boystyle isn't really a lolita subfashion, it's a separate but closely related fashion. it's listed as a style in the lolita handbook, so that is why I cansider it a subfashion.

Even the lolita handbook says "Boystyle is just as varied as lolita" which implies that it is not lolita. Lolita is hyperfeminine and ouji usually isn't very feminine at all. Lolita requires having a bell shaped skirt and with ouji, not only is your skirt not bell shaped... You're simply not wearing one.
