I read the comics until volume 4 or 5 and I've seen some of the episodes but I never really got into it. I do how ever read fanfiction about that series. But before you form an opinion I'll admit I'm a yaoi fan-girl so I only read yaoi romances about it. My favorite pairing is Sasuke and Naruto sweatdrop

No they aren't really gay in the show, but many fangirls speculate that there is some deeper relationship between the two, like when Naruto thinks Sasuke is dead and he goes crazy and the fox demon takes over. It's just like thousands of fangirls think that Hiei and Kurama from YuYu Hakusho are a gay couple when the creator of the comic has publicly stated several times that they are not. It's cool to read "what if" stories and find the reasoning for the relationship.
