Hi all,
My friend and I are hosting a panel (the loli one. The people that did it last year didn't really suckedXD) this year and I was wondering (since it's my first time), are panelists allowed to bribe people with food (aka baked cookies or sugary treats) the day before their panel?

Ok, first: gothic lolita is extremely popular so people will probably go if there a panel for it. Secondly, I doubt bribing people to attend would be allow and you might get into trouble if the staff finds out(they might even cancel it).
My advice is, don't do it. I don't know why you think you need to bribe people when your panel is about something so popular. O:
By the way: What will you be discussing about gothic lolita at the panel? Like the history and different styles?

The bribing part was actually a joke xp we're just handing out cookies to those who come and I wanted to know whether the panelists are allowed to bring food to panels. I wouldn't want to get our panel canceled just because of that.
Glad to know that it's popular. The panel last year made me kind of wince. It was so ill-prepared.
Anyway, our panel will cover topics of how dressing up as lolita isn't cosplaying (it's something that's always irked me when people say they're "cosplaying" lolita. Some people actually consider this a lifestyle and it's insulting), the history (because it's important to know that lolita as a j-fashion didn't start in the 80's (as this vile thing called the english translation of the egl bible will have you believe) and it isn't based on mange. It influences it. This is Mana's baby through and through), the different sub-genres, how to build a wardrobe, where to buy clothes, the brand vs. non-brand battle...etc.
We're bringing in clothes/examples to show what we're actually talking about. We're also planning to have a tea party maybe on Sunday (we haven't decided on the day yet) and dress-code will be enforced (but not at the panel).

The Hynes has some strict rules on food, but as long as you're not selling I believe it's ok x.x Just be aware that there are lots of people with lots of food allergies, so giving away food really isn't a good idea.
I actually saw someone in EGL clothes yesterday at the mall, it was weird since I've never seen anyone dressed that way outside of cons. As far as people "cosplaying" it, I think it depends on if it's standard EGL, or if it's based on something, like my friend is doing EGL Cheshire cat, and I want to do EGL riding hood one of these days, so stuff like that would be more cosplay.
