Questionable Autobiographer
|
Posted: Sat Jan 19, 2008 12:24 pm
Today being January 19th.
I geek out today. Dressing up, singing songs from Tales of Mystery & Imagination, reading from Tales of Mystery & Imagination, toting around my action figure all day (yes, there is a Poe action figure. Best Christmas gift ever from a couple years back).
He'd be 199 today. Anyone else geeking out?

I dunno, I wasn't so much into Poe. I'm thankful he gave us Lovecraft, essentially, but at the same time, I'm contemptuous of the constant rhyming of his poetry.

I'm actually fonder of his short stories than poetry. I still like it and all, but, for me, his short stories are where it's at. I need to read more Lovecraft, really.

Lovecraft is like Poe+Thesaurus-like vocabulary. It's impressive, and I'd still read it,e ven though it's not my kind of thing.

I've heard something similar (though not in such a great sentence!). I'll be sure to look for some the next time I get to a library.
