Hidden somewhere in the Great Vast Ocean is a little island, a lush tropical paradise untouched for centuries! Until, that is, a group of Dr. Akari's cabbages inspired by Peter Pan went rogue and took up residence on the island. Welcome, one and all, the the hidden paradise of Neverland! Though Neverland was inspired by the fabled land from the Peter Pan stories, it is not the same island, and does not have the same characters or history. But who knows! Perhaps, in time, Peter Pan will fly again on our new Neverland! How to Reach Neverland: little dimensional fissure tear on Gaia, lets out just south of the Treehut.

Neverland is a volcanic island surrounded by a vast, vast ocean: so vast that no one has ever heard of any land, anywhere, except for the island. At the heart of Neverland is a small volcano, mostly dormant save for the occasional earthquake. It has not erupted in so long that there are even a few trees clinging to its sides! The volcano was the source of the island's creation, but now it has become a slumbering giant. Someday, perhaps, the giant may reawaken, but for now Neverland is safe from the volcano's wrath. Seismic analysis has shown the volcano should not pose any danger for at least another forty years. Most of Neverland is covered by thick jungle full of birds and fruit trees. The jungle gives way only to the sandy shores of the beach and the rocky rise of the mountain. While there is plenty to be had, some areas are more plentiful than others! The Treehut»In the safety of a giant, hollowed-out tree live the Lost Children. The Treehut was a Great Tree which died some decades ago and now only the outer shell remains. Its wood is old and weathered, but strong and safe. The roots of the tree support a large basement in which the children store things. Work is in progress to extend tunnels to other parts of the island. The children sleep in nooks carved out of in the main tree or in hammocks hung from the tree's giant branches. Vine ropes and basic ladders allow the children to climb the tree. From the branches, they can scout the jungle around them. The children have recently been at work installing traps to protect themselves, too... The area around the Treehut is rich in banana trees and island peaches. The Treehut is a short walk from the stream, and the children have constructed a small dam to create a little pool for swimming and washing -- not that anyone really washes around here! The Jolly Rodger»Some years ago, after a giant storm, a ship appeared beached off the western shore. Nobody knows where it came from or who once sailed on it. After so many years, the sails are worn, the hull is in disrepair, and the ship is so far up the shore that at low tide, you can walk across the sand without getting wet. It's not seaworthy, but it is still sturdy, and so the pirates have taken up residence in its hull. Most of the ship is bare, but a few old sailing trinkets have been found, along with lots and lots of rope. The Mermaid Cove»Along the west shore of Never Neverland lies the cove where the mermaids play. Large, rounded rocks jut out of the water, allowing the mermaids plenty of sunbathing space. The water is clear and warm and you can see all the way to the oysters hiding along the cove's bottom. An underwater cave leads to the mermaid's parlor. The Cherry Tree Grove»To the east of the Treehut lies the Cherry Tree Grove, with trees always filled with the most lucious of fruit. It is always harvest time there, but be careful! A tricky group of fairies call those trees home and guards their fruit jealously! Be cautious when you go, for if you run into the king of the fairies, you may never return! Troll Mountain»Trolls might be mere legend, but the mountain named after them is real enough! Troll Mountain is the volcano that formed Neverland. There are volcanic caves hidden all through the mountain. Visitors beware, tremors and rockslides are a constant danger. Because the area around the mountain is so barren, few venture there, but the fairies have a small forge hidden along the southern slopes. The northern slopes of the mountain form cliffs that drop straight to the ocean, home to a variety of birds who nest there. The Stream»The stream begins up on the mountain in a cluster of hot springs, but by the time it reaches the area around the Treehut the water is nice and balmy. It's lost most of its sulfur taste and odor, too, retaining only a nice richness of flavor that makes the water purely delectable. There are several waterfalls along the stream both north and south of the Treehut, ranging in size from very small splashes to twenty feet tall. Selador, Kerizan & Argos»Situated around three Great Trees, Selador, Kerizan, and Argos are the three feien cities. Each is home to almost a thousand fairies, with shops and businesses and homes hidden in and around the Great Tree. At night, the cities are lit with thousands of tiny lights, special enchantments and glowing flowers. You can find all sorts of things in the cities -- if you're a fairy. The fairies keep high in the trees and out of reach, and protect their trees with vicious thorns and stinging insects. Lesca Village»Lesca is the home of the fairy dead. The few living fairies who live here guard the place with unmatched ferocities and powerful magics prevent non-fairies from entering. Not even birds and insects enter Lesca without the permission of the guardians. Tirtin Village»Tirtin is a small feien village, but at its heart is a young Great Tree that may someday grow to rival the others. The feien of Tirtin are the most knowledgeable about plants, which is why they have been chosen to nurture the growing tree. They are also among the friendliest fairies on the island, sharing their knowledge of plants with the Lost Children. Mermaid Caves»Scattered around the reefs surrounding the island are caves the mermaids call home. Most are located on the western reefs, but the mermaids live all around the island. There are lots of caves for them to choose from!

The Lost Children »The Lost Children are the creations of Dr. Akari's rogue cabbages. They range in age from baby to teen and live in a giant hollow tree called the Treehut. They're newcomers to the island, but already have caused a big splash, managing to get into all sorts of mischief. They run the gamut and include all types of little girls and boys! The children have only been on the island for a few months, so there's really no telling what they'll accomplish as time goes by. The oldest child right now is kid stage. Their leader is Ahja. The Feien »The feien fairies are one of the two indigenous groups on the island. They have a rich and tapestried history which is carved into the Great Trees around which they make their homes. Feien stand between five and eight inches tall. They are winged and magical, though most feien possess only rudimentary magic abilities and use enchanted artifacts to supplement their skills. While the fairies are not hostile to the Lost Children, they are not always friendly, either. The feien live in little villages and cities built in the high branches of trees with huts constructed from sticks and leaves, and sometimes homes built into natural tree holes. They have three cities, each of which has its own Great Tree. The Great Trees are the largest and oldest of all trees on the island. Fairies have domesticated several kinds of insects as pets, food, and labor, and some also have birds or small mammals they have enchanted to serve as mounts. Feien live in tandem with the land and dislike the tendency of groups like the Lost Children to change the forest. They are led by a Council of Elders, except for the Cherry Grove feien, who are led by self-proclaimed King Silva, and the feien of Lesca, who answer only to their arcane calling. Feien have an average lifespan of thirteen years. The Mermaids »Beautiful ladies with swirling tresses and the lower bodies of fish, the mermaids love to sit on the warm stones in Mermaid Cove and sing and brush their hair. They are rather skittish and will swim away at the first sign of trouble. They hate the pirates, who they see as having invaded their oceanic territory, and do not trust the Lost Children. They have little to no contact with the fairies, who live inland. There are no mermen. Instead, mermaids mate with various types of fish and sea creatures who live around the island, and the offspring is almost always a new mermaid. Supposedly, once every couple hundred years, a merboy will be born instead, but it's been so long since this happened that no one remembers for sure if it's true. Mermaids can live for up to two hundred and fifty years, and they make their homes in underwater caves decorated with shell and bone. They are good friends with the dolphins who live in the area. Mermaids are often followed by schools of fish and like to decorate themselves with starfish and pearls. They have a special affinity for all things in the sea, but they can breathe the air as well as the water and enjoy sunbathing. The Pirates »Scurrilous curs, the Pirates are a group of boys (and a few girls) that broke off from the main group off Lost Children due to certain idealogical differences. The pirates love nothing so much as raiding and pillaging and hunting for treasure and fishing all day long. They hate following rules and being responsible. They live in a beached ship called the Jolly Rodger. Monkeys & Squirrels »Neverland is absolutely crawling with thieving, screaming, vicious monkeys and squirrels who love to tear things down and steal food and generally cause huge problems for everyone else. You have not experienced true horror until you have encountered a poo-throwing monkey. Monkeys and squirrels will use any means necessary to break into food stores or steal small items, and the best defense against them is lots and lots and LOTS of traps. They are mostly nuisances to the Lost Children and feien, not so much the pirates and mermaids, but monkeys in particular are very crafty and conniving and can cause mischief anywhere. The Cabbages »Three cabbages escaped from Dr. Akari's lab and, inspired by the tale of Peter Pan, found their way to the island. Their locations right now are a bit of mystery -- we've tracked them to Neverland, but there are so many plants it's hard to get a more precise reading! Looks like we'll need some help to find them... The Trolls»Both the fairies and the mermaids have myths about trolls. Supposedly, somewhere on the island, mighty trolls live who will throw rocks at you if you get too near them! The fairies swear these tales are true, and as a result all the kids are terrified (except maybe the Pirates), especially of the mountain, where the trolls supposedly live. Sometimes, you can hear things moving about in the night...

Ahja » rosemilk Ahja is the leader of the Lost Children. Very responsible, she looks out for all the children and takes care of them, making sure they don't get into too much trouble. She has learned what plants are good for healing and what plants are good to eat, and makes sure no one eats any poisonous things. She has an agreement with the feien to help her if anything goes seriously wrong, but so far, her eagle eyes and quick reflexes have kept that from happening.
Toby » romesilk Quiet, tall Toby is sort of Ahja's second-in-command. He very much respects Ahja for taking on the responsibility of everything and does his best to help her with whatever she needs, be it gathering up plants or wrangling wrestling children. He's very good with his hands and carves little wooden toys for the children with pieces of sharp rock. He also helps build whatever needs building around the Treehut. He's a nice person, but a bit more reserved than most.
King Silva » Ice Queen King Silva is a grumpy, sarcastic, fairy who declared himself king of the cherry grove one day. He's tricky and likes to hide in the shadows, waiting to catch you as you try to take "his" fruit. Be careful, though, he's very good with traps! You'll find yourself hanging by a foot if you're not paying attention!

Banana Trees Banana trees grow everywhere on the island and come in three different varieties: yellow, green, and red. The big leafy leaves of the tree are great for keeping the rain off.
Berries There are all sorts of berry bushes on the island, with varieties unfamiliar to Earth. Most are excellent eating. Some are poisonous, and it's important to learn the difference before eating an unfamiliar berry! There are scattered blueberry patches throughout the island, with a larger concentration of blueberries around Troll Mountain. There are also several varieties of berries protected by vicious thorns that keep children and yuks away, but don't give little fairies and animals much problem!
Carrots The wild carrots that grow all over the island are very tasty, and good for you, too! They're easy to find and prepare and taste great in soups.
Cherry Trees Cherries are a very tasty treat, but only grow in the area of the Cherry Grove, which is "ruled" by king Silva. They're soo juicy and yummy, but try not to swallow the pits!
Glowflowers These miniscule bulbs collect energy from the sun during the day and retain a phosphorescent glow for several hours into the night to attract the species of moth that pollinates them. The flowers themselves are only about the size of a fingernail. They have been cultivated by the feien and mostly grow in feien cities, where they serve as strings of lights to mark the city avenues during night. Glowflowers are relatively rare in the wild now, but you might occasionally see the spark of a plant in the night. A single plant usually has between two and six stalks (up to ten under feien care) with six to twenty little glowfeathers on each stalk. If you pluck a stalk, it will retain its glow for a few hours, but by midnight will be totally inert and will not light up again the next evening. The only way to keep a string of glowflowers alive is to leave it on the plant.
Peach Trees Plump, juicy peaches are a very sweet treat. Trees are scattered across the island.
Thorntrees Tall, sharp, and prickly, every inch of a thorntree is covered in big spiky thorns! It looks like a big tree-shaped porcupine. Beware the thorns! They're very sharp. If you're nimble, you can break them off to serve as weapons.
Bees With so many types of plants and flowers, there's plenty of work for bees in Neverland. The Feien have a real gift for harvesting the honey, and are always happy to share it. Sharing honey is a time-honored tradition among the feien and it's always proper to greet your guests with a cup, and that includes Lost Children -- though sometimes the feien have trouble finding a child-size cup.
Birds There are thousands of different kinds of birds on the island, maybe because there aren't really any predators except, well, bigger birds such as hawks and eagles. Everything from pigeons to sparrows to parrots and birds of paradise live on the island. In spring and summer there are always plenty of eggs! Birds are sometimes used as mounts or familiars by feien, or trained for defense. They can also be captured and sometimes tamed by people.
Kubulbugs Kubulbugs are plump and juicy, fleshy, flightless things feien raise for their meat. They're delicious roasted in the shell or raw. They have six tiny legs good only for latching onto trees, much like aphids. They range in color from blue and green to brown and black depending on the type of tree they eat, and feien cultivate them in different tree varieties.
Squirrels Furry, mischievous, nut-loving mammals, squirrels hoarde and hoarde and hoarde, which can make them a nuisance if they find a way into a storeroom! They can also be tamed, and given their quantities, are a frequent choice for mounts or meat among the feien. They're also quite easy to catch in simple traps like the ones used by the Lost Children.
Termites Termites are very useful bugs for the feiein, who use them to carve passages and decorative patterns on trees.
Wasps These flying, stinging terrors are the favored method of feien defense. When properly trained, they serve as loyal defenders of whatever person or place they are assigned to. When not properly trained, look out! Those stingers leave a painful welt!
Yuks Yuks are hairy, four-legged creatures about the size of large dogs. They are, in fact, mostly hair, and it is usually not readily apparent where the head or face is unless examining the yuk closely. Despite their shapeless, hairy appearances, they are agile hoofed creatures and leap nimbly from mountain peak to mountain peak. Their hair keeps them warm and is excellent when woven into shirts for winter clothing. They smell bad and taste worse, but their milk is delicious and their cheese very tasty. They live mostly atop Troll Mountain but sometimes venture down into the jungle.

Technology
Lost Children have (very) basic tools, which they use to improve their homes, hammers of rocks, nails of wood, and axes made of sharper rocks. Tool makers are highly valued!
The feien have a fully-developed fantasy-type industry, as well as trained small animals (insects). Their homes in the trees are the most comfortable on the island!
The mermaids have tools made from sea materials and can use some sea creatures to do things.

Economy
Neverland works on a bartering system, so you need to know who wants what if you want to get something! When dealing with mermaids always bring the pretty things, like hair brushes, mirrors, or jewelry. Kids, being more practical (or poor) prefer sensible things, like tools, cloth, and rope. Feien covet gems and furs and have their own smithed currency, though trading goods is still as common as using currency in feien cities.
