The Darkest Corners Of Heaven
Year 3028- Mars is first colonised Year 3030- Manaite is discovered, and is found to have energy producing abilities Year 3031/Year 1 of the solar era-The first Manaite fuelled engine developed, the Mana drive. Fast travel through the solar system is now possible Year 11 of the solar era- Mars claims independance, starting the first colony war Year 14- The First Colony War ends Year 21- Jupiter colonised Year 22- On the discovery of large Manaite deposits, Research facilities are built on Jupiter to study its formation Year 28- Jupiter, having made leaps in many scientific fields, breaks away from Earth and Mars, leading to the Second Colony war Year 31- The second Colony war ends Year 34- Pluto colonisation is attempted, but fails due to hostel conditions, all who remain after the project become nomads or raiders Year 42- Pluto forms a nomad counsil and attemps to claim Planetary rights, the other planets claim Pluto is a colony, ingniting the Third colony war Year 45- The Third Colony War ends Year 50- Present- Plans the First Co-planetary devoloped Mech are announced
This is the the fiftieth year of the solar era, and after years of fighting humanity is final at peace. This co-devoloped Mech, project God Send, is a symbol of this peace. But this calm, like so many before it, will be rudely shattered. . .

Mike plotted the course as soon as the cargo was loaded, he could believe him and Frank where going to be transporting Project God-Send! The governments weren't saying much about it other then it was a new Mech but it was still an honor. Frank flopped down beside him, "Getting a bit ahead of ourselves are we?" he said with a grin, "we aren't going to be leaving the station for a few hours yet" "just eager to do my bit" he replied, before asking a receiver "Deep space, is our course?" A female voice chimed from the speakers "Sorry Dock 1 your going to have to wait till your supposed to leave, we have an unknown vessel heading our way, its not responding to our communications so we don't know where its going to go, sorry" "see man, what I tell you fate is keeping us to the schedule" Frank said leaning back in his chair, "Now what do you think about those guys that supposedly 'saw' that alien ship--" Frank was cut off by a noise, the sound of an explosion. They both stopped, a few seconds later another explosion, Mike hit the receiver "Deep space, whats going on there?" There was no reply. There was another explostion, and another they were happening sooner and sooner, suddenly the docking bay doors shattered in a swirl of flame and blue light filled the bay. The light was blinding but Mike could see a shadowy shape producing it, a mech, and it was aiming at them.
The next day Project God-send was, off the record, declared missing.

Jacob floated around in the Arikan, staring out into the vastness of space through his monitor, cloaked in the latest in optical camouflage. He growled in a low tone as he found what he was looking for, Nintil, the Arikan AI, instantly locked its on board targeting sensors onto the two targets ahead.
Jacobs curses under his breath and says to the AI, "I was hoping we'd catch one of them off guard, looks like you'll have to help me on this one Nintil. Stealth and misdirection will be out greatest tool here for taking out these damned pirates. Take for outlaws to find mechs and then try to rob a component depository. Probably heading to Pluto for to find safe haven."
A light come on on his console as a mechanical voice comes through the speakers, sounding very pleased, ~Oh... I don't mind. This should be quite fun. Adjusting perimeters and performs short jump. Be ready to bring weapons out after the jump.~
The turbine on the tail starts to spin, drawing in ambient energy from around them and suddenly the Arikan seems to blink behind the two outlaws pilots. Jacob immediately orders the release of the two of the impact mines stored in the mech.
~Releasing 2 Impact Explosives,~ says the Nintil as two orb shaped mines are fired out of the back and sent slowly and quietly moving towards the unaware suits.
He orders the suit to drop the cloak and bring the energy shields to bear as he draws his saber and activates it.
~Dropping Optical Camouflage, polarized armor on line, now lets have some fun...~ says the AI, almost sounding happy, happy as a computerized AI can sound.
The mechs suddenly finding the Arikan on their radars spin around and put their weapons to use, firing onto the mech. The Arikan seems to flash as the advanced thruster system, controlled by the tactical AI Nintil, allows the mech to easily dodge all the incoming projectiles, the distraction being enough time for the mines to reach their targets and explode onto the pirated mechs. As soon as the explosion happens, the Arikan shots forth, severing one of the outlaw mech's arms and another's leg.
Jacob has the mech drop back to dodge the predicted blows, his mind and instincts allowing him to determine where each move is coming from and Nintil running it's Premonition Program to come up with possible moves as well so as to avoid them. As the two outlaws still try to catch their bearing and compensate for the damage he flies in, striking to disable rather than destroy. After a number of dodging in and out he successfully disables both suits, reducing them floating torso, filled with criminals. He grins as he grabs them both and starts back towards Earth so they can figure out what to do with them and find out where they stashed the stolen parts and weapons.
Nintil kicks in with a message, taking Jacob off guard, ~Command says they have a mission for us. They are saying it is top secret and that they believe we are the best pilot to under take it. We are to report to the command center after taking care of these two. I think this one might be interesting...~
"Alright then Nintil, take us back into the atmosphere, lets see what this mission is about," says Jacob back to the mech's AI.

"Odin's going to die!"
One of the greeney scientists was on his feet with a look of panic on his face. The other, older employees in the control room of Vector Prime only smiled at this. There wasn't a single new employee that DIDN'T react that way when they saw Odin fly for the first time. Geoffrey, the main Board member in charge of the control room stood up as well, stroking his gray beard and smiling. He walked over to the greeney, putting his muscular hand on the boy's shoulder. "Relax, Jared, it's alright. Just sit down and watch." Not entirely convinced, but not wanting to just ignore Geoffrey, Jared sank back into his seat, and adjusted his glasses. Geoffrey returned to his seat to watch the action. Odin was taking Thor out for a test flight since the latest tune-up, and he was, as always, pushing it. He was flying full-tilt through an asteroid belt, without using his engines at all. He was jumping from one giant rock to the next, completely at the mercy of the planet's gravity if he were to slip. After a particularly impressive back-flip, Odin's voice crackled in on the radio. "The primary functions seem to be working well so far, I think I'll test out the weapons systems and mana drive now." Jared's eyes only got wider as Odin extended his mech's spear, and began blinking around the tightly spaced asteroids (which most pilots would avoid all together), never once stopping, but deftly striking meteors as he went, knocking them all towards the famed Red Spot of Jupiter. They all appeared to hit exactly. But this wasn't simple test-flying, those asteroids, which were tiny compared to the overall size of Jupiter, would be sucked into the storm, and dashed upon the ground, where the now more managably-sized pieces would be collected and studied for otherworldy materials. But Odin was getting VERY bored. Since all this peace had started, there hadn't been much to do in the way of piloting a battle mech. These excersises were nothing to him, and never seemed to be dangerous enough. He hadn't felt that familiar excitement from a fight in years. Sighing, he spoke into his helmet's mouthpiece. "Alright, Freya, let's head back. I'm not sure why I came out here. It's as boring as I thought it would be." There was a frantic beeping on the console, and Freya spoke swiftly but calmly. "Odin, I have just recieved a message from the Council, above Top Secret. Not even control will be recieving this mission." Odin smiled slightly. "Alright, let's hear it then." "Project God Send has been stolen." Odin scoffed, cutting her off from finishing what she had to say. "Now Freya, that Varient in your program was probably one of the best ideas I've ever had, but I didn't put it there for you to flat out lie to me." Freya replied with the patience of an AI. "It's not a lie. I am serious Odin. And they want you to be part of a special task force formed to retrieve it. You will be Jupiter's representative in this." Odin's face was set in thought for a moment. Then he looked up and sighed. "Fine, fine. At least it'll give me something interesting to do. Set us down, then I'll go get ready." "Yes, Odin."

Dalin ran as fast as he could through the burning settlement, he had to find them. Off in the distance explosions rang through the air, where were they? "Mom? Dad?" he shouted, the panic running through his voice, "where are you?!" A scream echoed from around the corner, Dalin dashed around it to see his father slump to the ground, his mother was still screaming but this time it was at Dalin "RUN DALIN! RUN!!" she cried with tears in her eyes, it was all she could get out, a fountain of red spread from her back, and as she crumpled to the ground her attacker leered toward him, their bionic eye glowing a haunting blue, they swung their blade.
Dalin shot upright, he was in bed. He always hated that dream, for obvious reasons, but it also reminded him of his own weakness, of his failure. His phone rang, he thought about letting ring out, but after the third ring he answered it, "Hello" "Dalin? Its Colonel Reaves, I have a job for you"

"San to base.San to base" Said san through the radio. "Base to San. We hear you, what is it?" "I'm coming in to land. Prepae the landing pad" "Ok. Preparing Landing Pad" San could hearlots of whirrs and clanks as the landing pad lifted frm the ground. She hovered above it for a second, then set down. She got out and the lift slowley descended. When it reached the ground, she hopped off and went inside. "Great job today!" Lt Zhed said to her. "Yeah, Whatever....." replied San as she went to her room. She changed into her casual clothers and went out into the cafeteria to get something to eat. She got a sandwich and sat down to eat it. Suddenly, she heard a huge boom. She ran out to investigate what it is and found the control room in ruins. She found LT. Zhed lieing on the floor, bleeding. "What happened?" Asked San. "A..Purple Mech ca....me and fired upon...us." Replied Zhed. "Try to hang on, i'm gonna go get help." "..n...no, don't. Chase the pur....ple mech. Teach ...hi..m a le...s..so...n." "Zhed? ZHED!?" San cried. She put down his head and ran outside, just seeing a glimpse of purple flying into the horizon. She fired up shadow and took off, Determined to fufill Zheds wish.

Wojtek's cell phone vibrated noisily on the table opposite him, causing him to wake suddenly. He pushed the duvet off him and stumbled over to it. He shoved the window open, allowing the cool night air to clear his head before he answered. "Cześć, Wojtek tu," he said as he slid the top half of the phone up. "-Wojtek?" Wojtek groaned, recognising the voice. "Dammit Reaves, it's 4 in the morning. What do you want?" he whined, flopping back down onto the bed. He ran his hand through his hair, half-listening to what Reaves said. "... I need you to come down here - it'll be easier for me to tell you both in person." Both? Wojtek decided not to ask, knowing it would just cause more problems, like everything seemed to do with Reaves. "Uh, fine. I'll be there soon." He hung up, not bothering to wait for Reaves reply. An old pullover hung over the back of his chair; he picked it up, yanking it over his head. He picked up his cell phone, putting it in the pockets on his jeans and walked to the door. He briefly paused to slip on his converses before walking into the night on his way to find Reaves.

Dalin didn't really think much of the Planetary negotiation center, it was too spacious, too extravagant. Reaves was waiting outside the conference room. "Good of you to make your way over" his said in that typical nice-guy way, he usally did that when he was giving someone a paticular nasty mission. "You said this was important, whats going on" Dalin said casualy, "We'll explain everything, we just need to wait for your partner" Reaves replied, "Partner?" "This is too important for you to risk on your own, he'll be here soon"

Inside the command center he watched a computer monitor as it displayed all the necessary information for the current mission he was to undergo. The mission was a recovery mission.
Apparently Project God Send had vanished and none of the planets working on it seemed to have any idea where it had gone to. The information on the screen gave a star map of the area where the last signal from it was received and a list of possible coordinates that it could have vanished to.
He looked over the information, scrolling back through it as necessary to study it and memorize it.
"Hmm, I bet it was more pirates again. They have been on the rise of late, perhaps they planned something big. Damned outlaws," says Jacob to no one in particular, the mouth piece catching the words, allowing Nintil to hear him.
~Could be, either way it sounds like fun and a chance to try out my lesser used protocols and functions. We best get on our way if we plan to start investigating,~ replies the metallic voice of Nintil.
Jacob nods and gets to the hangar, climbing into the Arikan and launching from the hangar. Once in orbit around the Earth he begins the necessary safety checks with Nintil's help before starting the long jump process.
~Powering up Mana Drive. All main turbines drawing in energy. At 50% power. At 75% power. Mana Drive charged, Long Jump imminent, prepare for jump,~ says Nintil as the Arikan begins to glow red before vanishing in a flash of flames.
The Arikan enters a mana stream and rides the energy to the coordinates given to him with his information, arriving at the destination after what seemed like like mere minutes to Jacob. A red blur seems to appear in the space where the last known signal was sent out from the God Send Project and slowly grows outwards as the Arikan materializes. Jacob casts out sensor probes from the back to begin scanning the area, hoping to find some if any evidence of what happened.

Wojtek shoved his hands into his pockets as he walked through the streets. The nights on Pluto were usually cold but tonight it was almost freezing. He sighed, the breath freezing in the air in front of him, and began to walk faster. On the way he couldn't stop thinking about what the problem could be. The scale of it was obvious - Reaves never normally phoned at that time - and Wojtek felt uneasy about it. It only took him a few minutes to get to the Negotiation Centre and he was taken to Reaves straight away by one of the night-staff.

When Reaves saw the boy, he waved him over, "Wojtek Czajkowski I like you to meet Dalin Rad, he's going to be working with you on you latest mission" he said warmly, "Ok he's here, now whats going on" Dalin said clearly annoyed, "I still can't tell you yet, but we get time to talk during after the meeting" Reaves replied, "Meeting?" "Your going to be briefed by the joint chiefs, this way" Reaves lead them through a pair of large doors, the room was buzzing with conversation, military officers from all four planets, why were they on Pluto? Reave, seeming to read his mind answered "this same meeting is happening all over the solar system, they have representatives here, we have some over there, there's a lot people working on this mission not all of them could be the one place" There was a lot of other Mech pilots in the room, they all looked as confused as Dalin. "Whisper if you have to, but try to stay quiet" Reave said as he sat down. A hush fell over the crowded room as the nomad commader and several representatives. "What you are about to hear is known only to three other room and a hand-full scouting partys" The commander stated " at approximately 2 am standard universal time the docking factity 'Deep Space' was attacked and the experimental project that was being transported was stolen"

As Dalin and Wojtek sat down, Wojtek noticed there was paper in front of them, obviously for the pilots to make notes on. The commander had mentioned an experimental project being transported but all Wojtek knew were things picked up from the rumours. He quickly scrawled the words 'projekt god-send?' on one of the peices of paper and shoved it in Dalin's drection for some clarification and then returned his focus to the commander. "The last known postion of the project was here," he said, pointing to a sector of the map where 'Deep Space' was, "However, we have scouting ships out on patrol this could change at any time."

"It could be, Pirates in particular would love to get their hands on it" Dalin scribbled in reply, "but what pirate group would have the fire-power to to do that?" As soon as he finished writing he pointed to the screen over the commander, he was explaining how the attack had happened, where they had entered and so on, but the screen was showing a large hole blown into the docking-port, even large pirate groups rarely poured that much military force into anything, even something as valuable as God-Send, they were too concerned with their numbers. But if they hadn't who would have stolen it?

Wojtek looked at the screen, chewing his pen in concentration. From the force of the attack, he knew it wasn't one of the regular groups of pirates. Being a raider, he knew most the common tactics used by the major groups but this attack beared no resembelance to any of them. He ignored the taste of ink that filled his mouth and continued to think for a minute. 'Maybe it was a group of them working together? Or it could be a new crew made up from rebel pilots though I haven't heard anything about deserters from any particular group.' He returned the paper to Dalin, ignoring the stares of the other pilots.
