The brook bubbled, water washing up against the rocks littered throughout the river. Insects crept through blades of blowing grass and the branches on the trees swayed in the wind. A beautiful day most would have agreed for the sun was shining and the weather was warm... but one little pup thought the day to be rotten! A young wolf pup lay near the river, his eyes glaring at the moving fish in the shallow area of water. Why were they allowed to swim happily in circles while he moped in the miserable sunshine? An indigo tail flicked behind the pup and he sighed, no... it wasn't miserable at all... but he couldn't find another word that suited his mood. Stavros wasn't a cry baby, nor did he like to whine about his life. He was just different and everyone seemed to think so.
Rolling on to his side, the young wolf inhaled deeply and let out a big breath, jaw gaping slightly as a long pink tongue lolled out of his mouth. Panting wasn't going to help him either, he decided and soon pulled himself to his feet. It was then he wandered over towards the shallow water's edge and looked down once again. Would it hurt if he waded into the shallow end? He'd always been told not to go near the rivers, they were too strong for pups and often washed them away to different lands. Not that he cared! No other land scared him!
..and so it was decided. Stavros hopped into the shallow pool and began chasing the fish about... teach them to be so relaxed!

Step, jump, step, jump!
The happy pup jumped from rocks with large distances between them to stepping on itty-bitty pebbles with only a few inches space lodged between them. Too have not a care in the world like the youngster was a blessing. Zephyr grinned and continued the pattern until it came to a halt, and there wasn't a slighest sight of the bumpy terrain. He frowned and allowed his paws to gently sink into the softened dirt. His eyes scanned the side of the deep river for something to play with. His red eyes stopped on another pup playing in the shallow water. A small grin etched itself on his face.
He called out, "Hey! Why are you playing in the water? I was told never to, but..." His voice lowered into a whisper and he pawed at the sunken ground nervously. He was pretty brave, but not that brave! He was always told by his mother when she was still around, There's a difference from being brave and being so brave that you're stupid. The frisky pup felt a surge go through his body to make him feel weak and meek. If he was 'brave' or 'stupid,' then maybe he'd join the pup.
The most tan pup slowly approached the purple one on the side of the river, his head cocked sieways in a strange position so he'd keep a good eye on the purple one. What if he went to far into the water and was carried off by waves? Zephyr gulped softly as he closed the distance and was only standing on the shore, watching the other nervously.((I hope that's an okay post. x3; ))

(( It's great. x33 ))
Just as a purple paw was about to stomp on a pesky fish, two violet-hued ears pricked forward and a head turned. Pale eyes glared as a newcomer approached and Stavros had the chance to study them. Water swirled around his feet, the fish had gotten away when he'd suddenly stopped and the only sounds that were heard were the sounds of the river, continuing to bubble and swish around the rocks. The silence was awkward, although most of Stavros' life had been a silent one... he'd still never gotten over the empty feeling of heavy dread filled silence.
Of course, the other pup seemed unaffected by it and happily jumped and spoke to him. This action made the other c**k his head and look at the stranger as if he was a bit strange in the head. Wasn't he ever warned about talking to strangers? Obviously not. Well, not every wolf was intelligent, right?
Grumbling to himself, the pup hauled himself up out of the shallow pool and shook himself dry when all four paws were planted safely on land. "Do you always do what you're told? What if I told you to go away, would you do it?" Stavros asked, staring blankly at the other.
Some may have thought he was joking but he really wasn't. Stavros liked to be alone, or so he told himself. A lot of the time the pup put up a rough and tough front to keep others from preying on him. He'd been through enough in the past to know that emotional pain was far more excruciating than physical pain of any type. Nowadays he was determined not to let anyone close enough to hurt him again... but he was young, naive and perhaps not all that determined. Often enough his playful pup instinct took over and he found himself rolling in the dirt with others... but he couldn't say he didn't try.

A frown covered his face and he pouted. "I only listen to my elders, but... I guess you don't. Besides, if Momma saw me do that, she'd call me stupid!" he said stubbornly, stomping on the soft ground. It wouldn't happen though, since his mother appeared to not be around, but away. The narrowed his eyes. "Don't you think you're being atleast a little mean? You can't go bossing around other, much more tell them to go away."
He silently stared at the pup. His ears pricked up themselves as he listened to the river continue to babble and spew white foam as it rushed violently between slick rocks. His eyea gazed at the rocks for a moment and he thought about what it would be like to jump and walk over them. The chances were he's slip on the slippery, wet stones and hurt himself. Maybe when he'd grow older, it'd be a different story and he'd jump and laugh and grin. He shook his head and turned his attention back towards the other pup.
"What's your name?" he finally asked. He stared furiously at the serious pup. As one could tell, in Zephyr's opion, he was mean and wasn't liked by the usually happy pup. If Starvos could be so commanding sound with each statement, why could Zephyr try to?
(( Yay, that's good. <3 x3 ))
