Personally i think these are a good read, as well as any other Darren shaw book(i think thats his name...) but they really aren't very scary at all. It was like a pleasure book for me! I mean of course it was, but i was hoping for a thriller, which i didn't get. I mean what are we reading Pony Pals?Just Kidding. I was let down though, those books had such a horror reputation. Please share your opinions on this author and his literature! I would like to see what others are feeling on this subject!

I really like Darren Shan! They were amazing books, along with his Demonata series, but you're right. They just weren't scary. They were more action books than horror.

I read this series 2 years ago, and thought it was good. (my reading taste was different of course.) But, I'm really disappointed, because (2 years ago) my mom said that the New York Times made an article about creating a movie on it, and...2 years later...Still no movie. Or announcement. Or preview. crying crying

Yeah... Sorry...for those who object But Vampires arnt scarey I mean, if you want a book that will scare somone out of their pants...dont make the bad/scarey guy somthing everyone loves.
Thats why Barney is scarey, and Vampires are not! I think somthing scarey to read, would have to be hard to look at. I mean, would you be more scared of a fuzzy rabbit kitty or a furless, boiled up, wrinkly rabbit kitty? This dosnt really have anything to do with that... But would you be more scared if a putrid zobie thing was glaring at you or smiling at you? the smile for me o_o then you know he planning somthing you wont like!

I remember somebody telling me what these books are about and saying they are good so, I want to read them... but there are others that sound good to me and I don't remember what this series is about and I will only read books that I own or can steal after reading. If I like a book then I want to be able to reread the best parts whenever I feel like it. I dont have enough money to get all of the books that I have heard about and liked the sound of. Would you please explain what the books are about without spoilers, you can be vague if it helps. It being about vampires already intrigues me and I might buy them if I know more. Unless you think it is not worth it. Scarey reads dont intrigue me, I like books that make you think.

I have only read the first book in the series, and to me at least, it was not that memorable. It was not bad, but it was not that good either.
This is of course, my opinion.

I read the first book on my brother's request... I really liked it. But I think Lord Loss is better.

Cirque du Freak wasn't scary, true. But I did like it. I don't read to get scared or whatever, I read to get entertained and I think Cirque du Freak did exactly that. I finished the series a couple of years ago. The ending was kind of... weird. Ahahaha. My friends and I have made fun of the ending, but besides that, it was a very nice series.
As for the movie, yes, the movie is still happening. I believe they already have the cast for it...? I'm not sure. But it's on Darren Shan's website. (I'm subscribed to Darren's newsletter, so I get these types of news from him monthly)

I haven't read them, but I have heard LOADS of stuff about them. And actually, I've never really heard that they were scary....

Especially in one of them when ***SPOILER*** the wolf-man eats out Sam's insides!

Nah, it'll be PG-13, most likely. They'll just make the bloody/gory parts really retarded-looking. Btw, I whited out that last part because it was a spoiler. Make sure you put a warning next time please.
