Gaia Name: Lord Andarel

Name: Karl Errie

Status: Teacher

Age: 38

Gender: Male

Race: Human (Presumably Giant somewhere back in his ancestry.)

Appearance: Karl is a towering figure, with a rough but gentle face. He keeps his gray hair short, just below his ears and spiked back, with deep violet eyes and a gray beard tied below the chin (after he clipped the tip off with his weapons, he keeps it in check). He bears a scar across his forehead diagonally, and he refuses to mention why. His arms, legs, hands, back, and chest are scarred in various places as well, while his palms and fingertips are extremely worn and are calloused into a tough shell. He wears a thin ivory circlet with a small sun engraving at its center as well as bracers on both his right and left hands, the left bracer has a long slice down the side of it. Preferring formal attire when not fighting, he dresses in a suit and simple tie but has never actually been able to make it look particularly good. In fighting, he wears thin platemail over his chest, torso, and legs.

Height: 6'9"

Strengths: Karl has powerful physical strength and toughness, as well as remarkable reflexes. He can move his arms quickly, and his heavy weapons have long range and versatility. Extremely determined, he refuses to change his mindset unless convinced otherwise...which is difficult as he is very stubborn.

Weaknesses: Slow to cover distance and not very maneuverable, Karl's steps are long but not very tight or accurate. He is no tactician and relies only on instinct, sometimes missing basic plans and preferring to solve problems with strength. He is smart, but very honest and steadfast to his beliefs and will not stand for insults. His weapons are mostly medium-range and his close-combat skills are not superb - however, he is extremely strong.

Weapon: Aside from his bracers, Karl's first but secondary weapon is a large two-handed greatsword (though he can use it with some effort in only one hand), double-edged and about four feet long. His primary weapons are a pair of solid metal figures, in a plus-sign shape, lined with gold and attached to 30 foot-long chains (usually only about 9ft of chains are unrolled), Sunscape's Edge. These are blunt but have a 2-ft diameter and weigh about 150lb each, allowing them to smash through most targets. They have an indent in their center where the chain attaches, allowing them to be thrown or swung from there.

Personality: Karl's personality is stubborn and slow - slow to anger, slow to be happy, slow to praise. He treats most others with quiet acceptance and speaks little, preferring to let others understand his ideas by actions. He almost radiates calm, but when angry he will pay that back in equal measure. While he tries not to deal with excess violence, he is always slightly regretful for any deaths he has caused. Deeply religious, he spends an hour of each day, upon waking, in silent meditation unless absolutely required to avoid it due to situation. He also spends time before bed and after each meal in brief prayer to his ancestors, friends, and lost allies.

Bio: Karl Erie was born to a communal village on the outskirts of a country devoted largely to war, in a peaceful time in their history. Growing up with his stature and strength, he was treated with respect and a touch of fear, but largely proved himself by intelligence and his sense of calm. At twelve he discovered a strange weapon in an old book of his father's, and requested the village blacksmith to make it for him - that was the first prototype of what is now Sunscape's Edge. Learning to use it took another three years of sliced skin and raw hands, leaving scars over his most of his body from the chain and iron. As the country attempted to expand through his territory, he was drafted into the army and soon made a modest name for himself as a supporter. Though his country lost the war, he survived but gathered even more scars, the most noticeable of which was a slash across his forehead from a ricochet when his weapon grazed a stone wall and bounced back at him on the chain. Taking a journey for several years, he visited several countries and took up multiple religions, finding a solid devotion in the calm of prayer. His temper grew stronger as a result of the war - though he was slower to become angry, when he did it was more chilling than before. At thirty he finished his tour of the countries and worked a job for several years as a teacher in a small school near his homeland, but was never satisfied and left not long before traveling to Magdia, and hearing of the House of Bricks decided to head there...

Extra: Karl has still never met his parents and the village has long since disappeared, with only the last of it existing even when he was born. He has not considered going back.

Kills: Several in war. He does not count any more (stopped after 10) as he finds it purposeless.

Wins/Losses/Ties: N/A

Unique/Acquired Attributes:
-Giant's Ire: Karl uses immense focus to try and overwhelm the enemy, paralyzing them with fear.
-Giant's Rage: When angry, Karl will focus only on his initial target. While he will usually stop before serious damage is dealt if the person is someone he knows not to rage against, if it is someone he has to fight for real or hates (which is rare), or if he is angry enough, he will not stop his attack until he feels the insult is paid back in full.
-Protection of Might: Karl can bring energy from his body into his hands to make them extremely hard to cut or pierce. This gives him some resistance against ranged attacks, though not all that much.

...Why does he wear a suit and tie in the middle-ages? o.O

The "suit and tie" has been around in some sort for quite a while, and this is quite a bit after the middle ages - there is running water.

That said, I'm not sure what formal attire consists of in this RP. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yeah, no problem. I think most of us assumed it would be middle ages, considering the genre and such. There are some inconsistencies, but most of them seem to pan themselves out.

Suit and tie issues aside, as some people have different views on what has been around when, I see no problems here.

Carry on. smile
