Today, whilst sitting around bored, I decided to learn a couple of bass riffs on my new guitar. And my god, Chris can write a bassline! I mean, Futurism? Bliss? Hysteria? I can't believe I never noticed before. So, yeah.

I was listening to the bassline to Bliss today while waiting for mum to pick me up from the train station. I was like, 'woah...'

Especialy live! He carries the entire riff by himself during the last chorus, whilst Matt's improvising a solo. I worship him as a bassist.

WOAH.
I tried playing the Hysteria bassline on the piano. Couldn't play it nearly as fast as Chris can on the bass.

I can do it at about 95% tempo, full if i'm all warmed up and all. But only with a pick. How he does it wihtout a pick is beyond me.

I reckon I'd find it easier without a pick. I'd find it easier to move my fingers quicker. Sure, my fingers would hurt after a while, but I'd personally find it easier. I come from a violinist/pianist background. XD. I don't know, though, my parents wouldn't buy me a bass guitar, would they?

If I had a bass, I'd try it.
I'd probably only be able to play at 50% speed and get broken nails/really red and sore fingers. XD.

True; I noticed the other day how incredibly fast the bass lines are... I'd love to learn to play bass... some day x]

I find that playing with fingers gives a much more 'beefier' sound as opposed to plectrum style, but it all depends on the sound which one is trying to achieve.

Hysteria is MUCH easier to play with fingers. And in addition to this, the plectrum makes it sound a bit weird. Try learning to play Hysteria with your fingers. Also, learn Stockholm Syndrome, that's a good song to get those fingers rolling.
