Raito had no where to go when Death Note ended, so he filled in for Itachi when Ita was sick.
Did not go well... sweatdrop
But Itachi could throw a kunai at and kill Light faster than Light could write down his name in the Death Note. Rly, look at the common sense of it all.

Except, how the hell would Itachi even know about the Death Note? D: Since he has no way of knowing beforehand, he would think it was slightly weird if not normal for someone to be taking notes during a 'fight.'
Light is just a normal human though, if he didn't have a Death Note, and Itachi intended to kill him, it could be done very quickly. Unless Light had a gun, which characters in Naruto ultimately lack D:
