I really, really love Neji.
I wrote u once, why I loved him so much because someone else on Chuunin- a Huge Naruto Community on Livejournal- asked what the appeal was. It could've been longer than it was. <<'
Anyway, not to mention the fact that Neji, is in all honestly, beautiful, he also is completely awesome and has a great personality. I love the relationships he has.
NejiShika- the pairing is easy to think of because they are both genius, but reading into the relationship is so much fun. I ADORE reading any fic that outlines Shikamaru's guilt over Neji and Chouji's near deaths. I REALLY wanted to see Shika enter Neji's hospital room and apologize. I still hafta write that apparently, since no one else will. If any of you read Unspoken Rules, everything I love about this pairing is in there.
NejiSasu- I really don't like this pairing, but it's my own bias against Sasuke that makes it so. Most Favorite CharacterxLeast Favorite Character just doesn't go with me. For anyone that knows me though, I'll read ANYTHING as long as it's really well-written. Therefore, I'm reading ONE NejiSasu right now that hasn't updated in awhile and I actually like it. I can see this pairing because, before Neji 'grew up', he, admittedly, was an a** just like Sasuke, and I really didn't like him at first even if he WAS cute. I saw this one NaruNeji fic that compared the two and the main difference was that Sasuke was free and Neji wasn't. Though we all hope that's gonna change.
NaruNeji- A likable pairing. Sway is the most beautiful NaruNeji fic out there and I absolutely adore it. Hasn't updated since June of last year D= I really must prod Suyari's journal soon. This pairing is common because of the whole 'Naruto saved me from the darkness' thing. It's cute, and sometimes I can honestly see it, but most of the time I flip by fics dedicated to this pairing unless I'm seriously bored and really need something to read.
NejiLee- No one talks about this pairing much because it's not common. I love it however. It took awhile to get past the 'Ew...Neji with LEE!?' but that's because I thought Lee was just a hyper weird kid with no depth/feelings at all. That's changed and I have a real respect for Lee. Like the GaiKakashi pairing. Why the hell is that so popular when NejiLee isn't? Anyway, their relationship is really cute, how Lee is always challenging Neji, pushing himself and all that. Unbeknownst to either of them, they're pushing each other to be stronger. Neji always having to make he doesn't lose- Lee always training to beat him. I love it. And Lee gets Neji out of his shell sometimes, but only for brief moments. Anyone pay close attention to Shippuuden 35? I did.
~Those are the relations I'm going to list, and I feel bad for randomly ranting like that. This was supposed to be about why I loved Neji....hold on, lemme go find that darn post...
Ugh can't find it, but just take my word for it, I really love Neji. It is a lot of fun to watch him and understand bits of his personality. Kidoumaru fight was excellent for that, which is why I love it so much. I even watched it in English, and that's saying a lot. I did wince throughout most of the episode every time Neji spoke. D=!

Oh gosh, I really don't feel like making a long post right now, but here goes....
Youko was right. Shika is my favorite. But..Neji is such a close second you wouldn't even believe it. In fact, sometimes Neji is my co-favorite character. (Yes, I'm indecisive, I know.)
Mostly, the reason is because I see quite a bit of myself in Shikamaru. I mean, I'm lazy and unmotivated, and have always been a procrastinator. (More so in the past few years...does that have anything to do with me idolizing him? xd )
We're both smart (though I can say that I do NOT have an IQ of over 9000 200).
And although we are unmotivated and rarely do things to the benefit of ourselves, we both are willing to help out our dear friends. I mean, I seriously loved that episode where he decides to help Naruto and Sakura by going to distract those 9 Sound nin. It really helped his character and really made me start to like him.
I also like the fact that he thinks out his moves and doesn't rush things. His fight with Temari, for instance? Honestly, whenever I watch an episode with a "Shika-battle" for the first time, I am ALWAYS caught by surprise and think "OMFG! THAT WAS COOL!" (Yeah....)
Finally, I like his tolerant, understanding, caring character. He is so ridicuously nice to Chouji. During the episode before the first Sasuke vs. Naruto fight, there's an episode with tons of Team 10 moments. After Ino basically tells Chouji that she's not interested in a guy like him, Shika consoles him by saying that "she'll learn not to focus on appearances." (Which made me really start to like ChouIno. But, not now. Back to Shika.)
Shika then tells Chou how strong he thinks he is, and to just enjoy life.
Plus, he also stands up for Chouji when they were little, and becomes Chouji's first real friend. That moment, to me, was just so heartwarming. I always cry a little bit when I see it.
Also, he's not just wonderful to Chouji, but as well as his other friends (which he seems to have a lot of). He truly treasures his friends, and shows no mercy to his enemies. I admire him for that.
Okay, now for superficial reasons.
He's absoultely handsome/beautiful. Inside and out.
I love his voice! (Well, I guess his voice actor. What do you expect me to say?!)
Well, I think I'm all worded out. I can probably say more, but not about Shika. (Sorry Shika-moo! My love! Well, not love, but...yeah. You guys are fellow fangirls [except for Divine]. You understand where I'm coming from.)
Youko: -gasp- I actually kinda like Neji's English voice. (Wait, that makes me want to think of him with a British accent, driking tea, eating crumpets and all that. Heh.)
But...his voice in the Japanese version never fails to make me go all melty.It's just plain sex-tacular. (I would say that about Shino's Japanese voice, but I haven't seen enough of him. So...yeah.)
Before I go, I'd like to say that, upon first impression, I thought this tread was about who we thought would make the first move. Take the plunge. You know.
For me...it can go both ways. It depends on the circumstances. I've seen both in fanfictions, and honestly, I don't know who would sasy it first. Heh, I'm just happy if the feelings are reciprocated. heart
I'm curious to see what your guys's thought are on this. 3nodding

That's a tough question Sanee. We've all seen it done both ways, but it's hard to discern who would actually make the first move. When I think of Shika being as lazy and cool as he is, I automatically think 'Neji would!1!' but Neji's kinda shy when you think about it. A bit naive too I think- just in the way he doesn't jump to conclusions if anyone understands me. I just woke up.
Well, the way I can see anything happening honestly, is how it happened in Unspoken Rules. Both of them were oblivious until dammit, they almost killed each other. Long story for those who haven't read it. 'Friends' at first, Casual Lovers really is more appropriate and even then Neji was sort of the one to make the first move. Sort of.
Though thinking about Shika when he's overanalyzing things, he'd probably figure out that Neji has feeling for him and act on them either way so the issue ends and all that 'troublesome' stuff is over.

It is a bit hard to discern who would say it first.
In Shika's case, he'd probably think that his new feelings for Neji are just "troublesome", and either shrug it off or wait until 'Neji makes the first move' (he thinks). However, maybe those feelings may get so troublesome that he'd have to tell him, causing him to say it first.
In Neji's situation, I'd have to say he is a bit sheltered about love (and possibly sex redface ), especially of this variety. He had grown up only knowing of a noble lifestyle, living to bear the brunt of his destiny (until a few years ago, of course).I'm betting that the only things that his family taught him about romance is to intermarry to carry on the Hyuuga bloodline. Especially nothing about loving/marrying outside the clan, and with the same sex, mind you!
On the contrary, if he does decide to defy destiny and choose his own path, as we've seen him do ever since the main Chuunin exams, he may just ask around about love. Or, perhaps he already knows what true love is? In that situation, he'd decide to take the chance and tell the person he really loves (Shikamaru) his true feelings. heart
(Actually, I just saw the second scenario for Neji in a fanfic called 20 Truths. I don't think I could come up with it on my own. sweatdrop )
Honestly, I still can't decide. I was just hoping one of you will figure it out for me, and I could just go with the best reason given.

He has a wonderful childhood that makes me cry with the angst, he's the gayest character in Naruto and he's just simply THE BEST. BETTER THAN ALL THE REST 8D

But Neji does happen to be uber sexy and scream BUTTSECKS!!! to just about everyone. My own boyfriend thinks he's hot. Which I hafta say is pretty damn awesome.

I seem to convert just about everyone I meet. Including some select members of my family. My boyfriend's in love with Gaara more, actually. He gets so jealous when I mention the NarutoGaara pairing. rofl Just makes me love him more though. I mean, how many people can talk to their significant other about things like that!?
I actually asked him to join this guild. He's probably been accepted actually since I know he sent in a req, but he's not on much. I'll hafta prod him later. He's still in denial that he likes NejiLee. And I KNOW he does. >=3

It's either Vampric Guy or Wise Sensei, yes? Since, I'm not sure if WS is a guy or not, Vampric and Divine are the only guys (well, peolle with male avatars), and I'm sure that Divine isn't your boyfriend. >>

Hah, that's awesome. I usually don't talk about yaoi/Bl/etc. to my friends.
My brother knows, but that's only because he saw me draw a ShikaNeji picture. (He makes fun of me too. I even gave him cake to shut him up!)
I think the only person that I've been able to talk to about it is this one guy I know who hangs out in the same group I usually hang out with at lunch.And then, all he'd talk about is SasuNaru or KakaIru. >> He doesn't think ShikaNeji has any chance of happening, and that it's crack. (He said it nicely though.)
Oh, my one friend I haven't seen in ages likes Gaara. Probably because of the Guy-liner. rofl

Personally, as much as I like Neji, I prefer Shikamaru. I just relate to him more, I think. He's the typical model for generation-X teens.
Granted, I'm not nearly as smart as him, but I am just as lazy. In school, I would sleep through all my classes, and the only reason I passed at all was my good test scores. I don't think I ever did one project my whole high school career ._.' Also, it takes a lot of nagging to get me to do anything xD and even before I watched Naruto, 'troublesome' and 'bothersome' and all versions in between were my favourite words -.-''
Besides, as fun as it is to mess with Neji's character and force him into situations that warp his prissy self, Shikamaru is so much more amusing.
