In TVHIT, there is an arena. In this arena, people meet to train and battle. Some for recreation, others for violence.

The Wind howled, growing intensly warmer by the second, then in a ripple of condensing air and steam Drake appeared and kicked Tailz in the face.

ooc: I think tails is looong gone to somewhere else since that last post was in febuary.
ic:
After dropping that gennin off at the hospital Midori could feel the adrinalin pumping in her vains. That training exercise had exicited her but had been too short for her to really break out a sweat.
She had too much energy to rest now, what she needed was a way to burn off some steam...what she needed was a challange and so she headed towards the arena hoping to find somebody their who could last more then two minutes against her.
Hovering in the air a few feet above the outer wall she causually scanned the arena floor with her hawk like eyes and grinned as she saw her foe from the last cell wars Drake Mennderuss kicking the crap out of some random ninja alomst effortlessly.
If their was anybody in the village she would consider being a worthy rival it was Drake, the only shinobi to last longer then 5 minutes against her in open combat since before she could remember.
He was one trough homebray, prehaps too tought even for her to win in a straight fight unless she was going for the kill, something she didn't ever want to have to do as she had no doubt that if that happened he would die like the thounsands of others who had fallen before her.
It would be too much of a shame to lose someone who has as much raw potiental as him, to lose one of the few people she could even losely consider a friend. As long as he remained loyal to the village she would never truly be able to go all out against him in a fair sparring match.
So prehaps instead she needed to tild the odds slightly in order to make things more intresting and less deadly. Taking out the boomerang she had used in the previous training exercise she hurled it into the air over the center of the arena and watched impassively as it broke up into three bits.
The bits hurled to the ground hard forming a tringalar shape and a seal that would inable any and all fire jutsu from being activated. If someone tried all they would get would be a few sparks and a lot of wasted chakra which the boomerang bits would happily absorb.
It was a bit of a double edged sword since she herself relied heavily on fire jutsu as one of her main elements but she wasn't vice captian of the fighters slot for nothing. She'd more them make do with the other elements she had avaliable to her.
Landing gracefully on the arena floor she stood and faced Drake as she reached up a hand and took off her mask revaling a wide smirk. "So... You up for a remath?" She asked politely not bothing to tell him about the seal she had placed.

Otokage was walking around the town when he noticed a piece of something stuck in the ground. He bent over to expect, surprised to see it was a piece of the same boomerang that his clone had broken earlier that day.
Wonder how she does that...
All of a sudden he realized that it must be some sort of jutsu, and that its user had to be nearby. Deciding to make a more dramatic entrance than just walking in, he made the handsigns, activating kinte no jutsu. He sank into the ground, trveled a bit, and then rose out of it next to Drake.
He looked around for a moment before seeing Midori. He turned towards her and asked, "Hows that weapon of yours work?"

Seeing Otokage appeare Midori grinned as she placed her mask back on, not wanting this stranger to see her face. Still she was happy to see him becuse the hadn't been able to collect any data on him during the previous training exercise.
His precence here was a literal golden oppertiunity and she intented to make the most of it by playing along. "Which weapon are you talking about? I've got thousands of them so you'll have to be a bit more specific." she said with a slight shrug.

"The boomerang that seems to keep breaking," Otokage said, drawing one of his swords. This was a combat arena, after all. With two other chuunin.

"Oh I've got several of those. It's quite easy really, they are made so that pieces of it intentially break off after being thrown and can be snapped back into place afterwards for reuse. A simple trick really, It's great for hitting mulitpul targets at once by suprise." explained Midori offhandly thought she negleted to mention that having it break into pieces also had...other uses.
"Now are we going to spar or are you two just going to stand around all day?" She asked as she thrust her hands towards them throwing a gust of wind powerful enough to knock them off their feet.

Otokage let the wind knock him back, sinking into the ground when he landed. He took a small scroll out of his pocket and, from in his little air bubble, made a short series of handsigns. Another sword popped out of the scrool. After sheathing the sword he started with, Otokage launched himself out of the ground at Midori, making a shallow cut at her right arm.

As Otokage sunk into the ground Midori could sense the presence of a new arrival and it distracted her for a split second as her foe suddenly poped out from the arena floor and slashed at her right arm with a sword.
As the sharp blade cut thought the thin fabric of her shirt a loud screeh of metal clashing against metal rang trought the air as Midori lept back just a touch too late to avoid the blow.
However as she moved away a metalic sceen could be seen though the small hole Otokage had created in her clothing, thought wither it was from an arm guard or one of her hidden weapons she was infamus for was impossible to tell at this point, and Midori wasn't telling.
Which ever it was, the point was that it had blocked the slash from doing any real damage, though the force of the blow would shurly leave a bruse for days.
Midori frowned considering how to best counter Otokage's abilty to slip thought the ground like a fish might slip through water. As long as he could do that things would be...difficult to say the least.
She had several ways she could potentialy deal with the problem amd yet becuse she could sense she was being watched she was reluctent to use any of them in case she would need it for a more important fight like the upcoming second cell wars.
Figuring that simple was best she decided to go with a way that wasn't dependent on her personal abilties. With a slight kick against the ground she launched herself several feet into the air and stayed their thanks to her wings. At least in the air he wouldn't be able to suddenly pop out at her if nothing else.
But still that wasn't enough to neutralize him. She had to do something to force him out of his zone and into hers where she would have the advantage, and luckily she had just the prefect object ready to do the job thanks to her previous experince at this same arena.
Prep time could be a very very dangerous thing, and Midori had wisely measued out the arena's dimensions on a previous visit in order to prepair some rather specailized equipment.
Pulling out a scroll from her inner shirt she unrolled it summoning a giant mesh net made out of thick intertwined reinfored copper cables wide enough to cover the entire arena floor and with spacing between the wires too small for any human being to slip thoguht.
It had been quite expensive to procure but money was no object to her. Her clan was very very well off and she made a small fortiune every time she made a big hit on an assianation mission which went a long way to explain how she was able to afford her perverable ansanl of weapons that she had available to her at the flick of a wrist.
For now she simply let the mesh drop to the floor knowing that Otokage and Drake would probally avoid such an object falling on them. But she didn't mind if they dodged it as this was only the set up stage of something much larger to come.

Otokage noticed a series of criss-cross shadows on the ground and looked up. Frick! He quickly sank into the ground again as he made the handsigns for another jutsu.
When the net landed he quickly rose so he was just barely beneath the surface of the ground then stuck his hand out and traced it across the net. where he traced the net turn to gold and then followed where he traced his hand, making a decent sized hole in the net.
I can't surprise her from down here by bursting out, so I'll have to use ranged weapons.
Otokage began concentrating chakra into the bll of gold he had made from the net section. He stuck his hand out again and pushed the chakra into the ball, causing it to burst into many shards of gold as it flew at Midori.

Midori's hawk like eyes missed nothing as Otokage sank into the ground, exactly like she predicted he would.
But what she hadn't expected was for a whole to open up in her mess net so easily soon after words. The cooper wire was thick and tough and yet somehow Otokage had managed to part it like it was nothing.
While she was still puzzling over how he was doing this she could feel a change in the air around her as Otokoage burst the ball of material he had been gathering sending a hail of shards towards her.
Midori lifted a hand quickly rasing a defensive wall of surging wind upon which most of the shards harmlessly bounced off but it wasn't enough to stop their sheer numbers and several shards broke where able to break thought thought their momentum was reduced enough that they where only able to cause a few light gashes, mostly on her legs and even one on her left cheek.
Glaring down him Midori decided that it was time to up the anti. With a flick of her wrists a thick copper cable appeared in each hand with a kunai lashed to each end. Quickly she tossed one end of each cable to the very edge of the next so the the cable was intertwined with the wire mesh.
Then with an evil smirk which was hidden behind her mask she tossed the other ends of the cable straight into two electrical outlits which where stationed at opposite ends of the arena.
With a loud thunk the kuani tied on the end of the cables pierced the outlits and suddenly thosands of volts of electricty were being pumped throught the kunai into the wires and finally into the net turning almost the entire floor of the arena expect for Otokage's small hole into an extremly shocking trap.
Midori smirked, What ever Otokage had done to snap the wires, he likely couldn't do it anymore with out electricuting himself severly. Now to try and flush him out of the ground she simply dropped a poision smoke bomb down to the hole Otokage had made in the net and watched as it exploded into a small cloud of purple miasma.

Only one way to get out of this one... Midori's gonna love this.
Otokage makes a quick series of hand signs then jumps put pf the hole as he activates the jutsu. His skin quickly erupts into scales. When the scales completely covered his body, large reptilian wings burst out of his skin. Then, finally, the nails on the end of his fingers elongate and harden into claws.
"Hanryu no jutsu: Kansei."
Otokage whips his arm back, focusing chakra in the palm of his hand, and... nothing but a short fizzling.
Dismayed by the failure of his second jutsu Otokage quickly begins flying around, looking for the source of the disturbance.

Midori was bemused as Otokage erupted from the ground and switfly transformed into a more reptilian like being complete with his own set of wings.
She started at him for a few second admiring his new look, clearly the man had some good taste, and he was certiantly proving himself fun for her to play with so far.
"I like the new look, you should wear it more often." She commented lightly as she thought about withere to ingage at close combat or remain at range then settled to contiune snipping until she could assertan his agility in the air.
She watched passively as Otokoage attempted to ininate a fire jutusu and was only rewarded with a few sparks for his effort. The seal she had placed on the field earlier on that had been meant for Drake had finally come in handy after all, even if it wasn't against the intented target.
Pulling out a Kunai with a liquid nitrogen tag attached to it Midori grined.
"Let's see if that transformation of yours makes you cold blooded to go along with it." She said causually as she tossed the Kuani at Otokage knowing that in a couple of seconds once it reached him that it would explode into a burst of super freezing gas.
